Two sides to elections

Democrats seem to be on the dark side of elections

Michigan election official charged

The Epoch Times reported in a 10 March 2021 article how Democrat Kathy Funk has been charged with several election-related felonies.

Michigan county elections official and former township clerk was charged with ballot tampering related to the August 2020 primary election, according to state Attorney General Dana Nessel.

KathyFunkKathy Funk, who was running in 2020 as a Democrat for reelection as Flint Township clerk, also was charged with misconduct in office, Nessel said. The charges, which are both felonies, each carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison upon conviction.

Nessel alleged that Funk purposely broke a seal on a container for ballots so that the votes couldn’t be totaled during an anticipated recount. She narrowly won reelection in the unofficial count, the attorney general’s office said.

“Election officials must uphold the integrity of their positions. Those who abuse that commitment undermine the very foundation of our democracy,” Nessel, a Democrat, said in a Twitter response to a ClickonDetroit report.

“Our department is committed to prosecuting election violations, regardless of the political party of the perpetrator.”

Nessel’s office didn’t provide any more details about the allegations against Funk.

Unlike the Harris County Election Administrator appointed by Lina Hidalgo, this Democrat seems to have gone boldly into illegality

Although I (being an opinion blogger and not a legal worker) would argue that Isabel Longoria’s “turning of the live-stream video input” was likely intentional, maybe a court of law will determine whether something intentionally criminal occurred during Longoria’s flawed “leadership” as the Harris County elections administrator.

You see, Houston Fox affiliate KRIV reported in a 9 March 2022 article that lawyers for the Harris County GOP had discovered video feeds (legally required by SB1) had been turned off.

The GOP say the cameras were turned off when the 10,000 lost ballots were found.

“Under Texas law, Harris County is required to have a live stream and camera footage of all vote counting that’s going on,” said Mitby. “We intend to get those cameras back on because the only reason why they would have been shut off is because somebody with Lina Hidalgo’s office has something to hide, and we’re going to find out what they’re hiding.”

Democrats seem willing to destroy people who expose their subterfuge — such as the computer repairman who exposed the Biden laptop

Breitbart reported in a 10 March 2022 article how the life of the computer repairman who turned in Hunter Biden’s laptop has been bankrupted and hounded.

The man who used to own the Delaware computer repair shop where Hunter Biden left his notorious “laptop from hell” says bankruptcy looms, as his life has been turned upside down by private citizens, tech giants, and federal agencies since the contents of the laptop became public.

John Paul Mac Isaac, 45, tells the New York Post that he received a slew of death threats after the bombshell revelations on Biden’s laptop became public and noted a Wilmington state trooper had to maintain a constant presence outside of his shop in Trolley Square.

He added:

There were multiple situations where people came in and you could tell they were not there to have a computer fixed. And if there were not other people in the shop, I don’t know what would have happened. I was having vegetables, eggs, dog s–t thrown at the shop every morning.

Mac Isaac previously told Breitbart News that Hunter Biden dropped the computer off at his shop on April 12, 2019, to conduct a “data recovery.” He says he called Biden the next day to inform him the recovery was completed, but Hunter never picked it up.

“I became concerned over some of the content I was viewing,” Mac Isaac told Breitbart News. He informed the FBI of the device before bringing it to former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani. Eventually, the New York Post came into possession of the laptop’s contents and published a series of reports on them in October 2020, in the lead-up to the 2020 election — which was extensively covered by Breitbart news.

“The laptop reportedly contained emails detailing Hunter Biden’s businesses with Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas company, and potential business deals with a Chinese energy company,” Breitbart News reported.

Mac Issac tells the Post that the circumstances surrounding his involvement with the laptop devolved into such chaos that he had to close his shop, and noted that on November 5, 2020 — just two days after the presidential election — he took off for Lakewood, Colorado. The 45-year-old says he stayed there with his family for about a year and took classes in woodworking.

Mac Isaac tells the Post he applied for unemployment in December of 2020, though his unemployment cases were repeatedly closed and he had to use his 401k funds to cover bills. He then sent a letter to Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), a close ally of President Joe Biden, last December.

How much did Joe Biden’s complicity in this Ukrainian matter figure into the Ukrainian war? Maybe without it, we might not have had a war.

If our “leader” were not so compromised on the international stage, maybe Putin would not have been emboldened to attack.

Republicans seem to be on the common-sense side of elections

Arizona House passes a bill to require voters to prove citizenship

The Epoch Times reported in a 10 March 2022 article on the Republican-dominated Arizona House having passed a bill requiring prospective voters to submit proof of citizenship.

The Arizona House on Monday passed legislation that would ensure citizens are only registered to vote in the state’s elections and are able to prove their citizenship upon registration.

Potential Arizona voters would be required under House Bill 2492 to present a form of identification within 30 days of registering to vote.

It adds a requirement that voters include their date of birth and early voting number along with their signature on their return ballots. Voters currently just sign their name, and county officials compare that to signatures they have on file with verified voter registration documents.

The bill if signed into law would also prevent an in-person voter from presenting two documents, such as a water or tax bill, if they do not have their identification.

Voters would be required to include their place of birth and a verified residence address.

For National and state elections, non-citizen voters only dilute the legal vote

The first duty of a nation is to protect its citizens. If people from other nations are allowed to vote in that nation’s elections, the population of that nation will be overwhelmed legally. Therefore, the first duty of a nation is to secure both its borders and its elections.

Florida Republicans pass bill to create election crimes investigative unit

National Public Radio reported in a 10 March 2022 article that the Republican-dominated Florida legislature created an office to investigate election crimes.

Florida lawmakers have sent to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis legislation that would create a dedicated investigative unit for alleged election crimes, part of a broader bill that would, for the second year in a row, enact new voting restrictions in the state.

DeSantis, an ally of former President Donald Trump and a potential 2024 presidential contender himself, called for the formation of an election police force in a speech last year.

The measure, which the GOP-led House passed along party lines Wednesday evening, would create an Office of Election Crimes and Security within the Department of State to probe “allegations of election law violations or election irregularities.”

Election fraud is exceedingly rare, and DeSantis had praised Florida’s election administration in the wake of the 2020 election.

Yet for the second straight year he’s pursued tightening the state’s election code. In 2021, during a Fox News appearance, he signed legislation that added new restrictions to the state’s ballot drop boxes and vote-by-mail system.

The Florida law was among a raft of GOP-led measures enacted in the wake of Trump’s baseless claims about the 2020 election being rigged against him.

DeSantis is expected to sign the new legislation. The state Senate OK’d it last week.

This points to the common-sense nature that should become central to all our laws

Making our elections secure (even when the incidence of election fraud is low) is central to our trust in government.

With that said, I don’t believe that Biden and his 4 a.m. surges has proven himself clean of election fraud. Rather, his incompetence seems to prove him unfit for governing (and that goes double for Harris and Pelosi).

Republicans fight back against Biden’s dirty tactics

Biden “informs” states of how many Afghan refugees they will take, Republicans say “No”

One America News Network reports that the Republican Study Committee will fight Biden’s Afghan resettlement program.

The Republican Study Committee unveiled a plan to fight Joe Biden’s program to quickly resettle tens of thousands of Afghan refugees into the U.S. In a memo on Wednesday, the RSC said Biden’s plan was dangerous and extended as well as an open border approach to immigration policies.

RSC Chair Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) pointed out the Biden administration requested $6.4 billion to fly any unvetted Afghan national into the U.S. by the end of the next fiscal year. He added the Democrats’ request included lifetime welfare and a path to citizenship for said Afghans.

“The Biden administration wants billions of dollars to fund unlimited green cards for unvetted Afghans,” Banks expressed in a tweet. “Opening our borders to a Taliban-run nation with the promise of lifetime welfare and citizenship for their extended family is reckless and dangerous.”

This needs to be ongoing. Moreover, this needs to be just as dirty as the Democrats have made it.

Biden directs life-saving monoclonal antibody COVID treatments from Florida and Texas to states in the North

Townhall comments on the way Biden directed half of the monoclonal antibody treatments sent to Florida and Texas away from those states.

After President Biden attacked Republican governors in an address on Thursday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki denied reports that Biden was cutting lifesaving Wuhan coronavirus treatments to red states.

Reports that the Biden administration is reducing the quantity of monoclonal antibody treatments sent to Florida and Texas, among other states with Republican governors, are “not accurate,” Psaki said.

“First of all, we are increasing our distribution this month by 50 percent,” she explained. “In early August we were distributing an average of 100,000 doses per week, now we’re shipping an average of 150,000 doses per week,” Psaki added.

Biden lies about misdirecting treatments from Florida and Texas while he sends infected illegal aliens and Afghans into those states

Townhall likewise comments in a separate article on Biden’s redirecting of the monoclonal antibody treatments for COVID patients.

In remarks from the White House on Thursday — billed as “Remarks on Leveling the Playing Field in Our Economy to Bring Down Costs and Ensure that the Backbone of the Country, the Middle Class, Can Finally get a Break” — quickly turned vindictive as Biden repeated his attacks on Republican-led states.

“The governors of Florida and Texas are doing everything they can to undermine the lifesaving requirements that I have proposed,” Biden said repeating a line of attack he first used in a non sequitur speech on the Wuhan coronavirus as his failed Afghan airlift was underway.

Biden’s blind partisanship is, unsurprisingly, based in fantasy. Republican governors in Florida and Texas have pursued measures that ban mask mandates — which is different than an outright ban on masks, despite the lies peddled by Biden and other Democrats — while President Biden is the one who is undermining life-saving measures in those states. In what appears to be petty political maneuvering, Biden is putting American lives at risk. This development is somewhat unsurprising given he’s also left Americans stranded behind Taliban lines in Afghanistan, but it’s disturbing nonetheless.

As has been reported by officials in Florida, the Biden administration blindsided Florida’s health officials by restricting the supply of monoclonal antibody treatments without warning.

Do you want to know where the COVID problem starts? It starts with the flood of illegals invited or shipped into America by Biden

Despite Biden’s FAA banning drones over the Texas open-air border facilities, the footage and on-the-ground reports reveal that up to 12,000 Hatians per day have been flooding the Southern border.

The Federal Aviation Administration has placed a two-week flight restriction along a bridge at the southern border inundated with thousands of illegal immigrants, which prevents reporters from flying drones to document the crisis.

“We’ve learned that the FAA just implemented a two week TFR (Temporary Flight Restrictions) over the international bridge in Del Rio, TX, meaning we can no longer fly our FOX drone over it to show images of the thousands of migrants. FAA says ‘special security reason,’” Fox News reporter Bill Melugin tweeted Thursday evening.

DeSantis goes directly to antibody manufacturer. Will “fight like hell”

Tampa Bay Fox affiliate WTVT reports that Governor DeSantis will work around Biden’s removal of the life-saving treatment from the state.

While Florida looks to round the corner on administering 100,000 monoclonal antibody treatments to people with COVID-19, Gov. Ron DeSantis pledged Thursday to “fight like hell” to continue receiving the treatments as the federal government this week took control over distribution of the drugs.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Monday reported on its website that the agency has “transitioned from a direct ordering process to a state/territory-coordinated distribution system,” saying that the change will give “health departments maximum flexibility to get these critical drugs where they are needed most.”

A handful of states, including Florida, have obtained the bulk of the treatments available thus far, according to White House officials.

But the federal health agency now is allocating a weekly distribution “based on weekly reports of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in addition to data on inventories and use” submitted by states to the federal government, HHS officials said.

Florida this week will be capped at receiving 27,850 doses of the monoclonal antibody treatment Regeneron and 3,100 doses of treatments developed by pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, according to federal health officials.

Governor Abbott orders six ports of entry closed by Texas State Troopers

Austin CBS affiliate KENS points out that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has commanded the Texas State Troopers to close ports of entry to Texas.

Gov. Greg Abbott said Thursday that he has directed state troopers and the Texas National Guard “to shut down six points of entry along the southern border” at the request of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

But a CBP spokesperson said the federal government — which operates ports of entry at the U.S.-Mexico border — has no plans to shut down any ports of entry.

“I have directed the Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard to surge personnel and vehicles to shut down six points of entry along the southern border to stop these [migrant] caravans from overrunning our state,” Abbott said in an emailed statement. “The border crisis is so dire that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection is requesting our help as their agents are overwhelmed by the chaos.”

Renae Eze, Abbott’s spokesperson, added that the state “is shutting down the ports of entry at the request of and in collaboration with CBP.”

Dennis Smith, the CBP spokesperson, said the agency has received no directive from the federal government to shut down ports of entry.

“I couldn’t comment on anything the governor said, I don’t have any information on that,” Smith said.

The Department of Public Safety didn’t respond to a request for comment about Abbott’s directive.

Abbott’s announcement comes as thousands of asylum-seeking migrants — most of them from Haiti — are waiting under an international bridge in Del Rio, to be processed to enter the country, according to Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez.

While there may not be communication between Abbott’s Texas Troopers and the Biden’s Border Patrol, there is a history. When Abbott had DPS stop illegal aliens being transported from the border, Biden sued. When Abbott signed a law protecting babies from abortion after a heartbeat can be heard, Biden sues.

Nebraska governor sending state troopers to southern border to meet Abbott request

The Washington Examiner reports in a 21 June 2021 article that Nebraska governor Pete Ricketts has sent state troopers to Texas to help with the border issues.

NebraskaGovNebraska will send state troopers down to the United States-Mexico border to help law enforcement in Texas respond to high illegal immigration levels, the governor announced this weekend.

“Nebraska is stepping up to help Texas respond to the ongoing crisis on their border with Mexico,” Gov. Pete Ricketts said in a statement. “The disastrous policies of the Biden-Harris Administration created an immigration crisis on the border. While the federal government has fallen short in its response, Nebraska is happy to step up to provide assistance to Texas as they work to protect their communities and keep people safe.”

More than two dozen Nebraska State Patrol officers will travel approximately 900 miles south to Del Rio, Texas, later this month to assist Texas Department of Public Safety officers for an estimated 16 days, Ricketts said.

The move comes a little more than a week after Republican Govs. Greg Abbott of Texas and Doug Ducey of Arizona asked the other 48 governors to consider sending their police to help overwhelmed local and federal departments.

“Given the staggering number of violations now occurring in Texas and Arizona, additional manpower is needed from any state that can spare it. With your help, we can apprehend more of these perpetrators of state and federal crimes, before they can cause problems in your state,” the governors wrote in a letter released earlier this month, noting the threats posed by drug smugglers and illegal immigrants with criminal histories.

Abbott and Ducey said out-of-state law enforcement officers, as well as their own, will have broader policing authorities and be able to arrest noncitizens who come across the border on trespassing charges and human smuggling charges. Normally, only federal authorities such as the Border Patrol can arrest people for immigration offenses, but the two governors expanded arrest authorities by declaring a disaster and emergency.

Governor Ron DeSantis pledges border help for Texas and Arizona: “Florida has your back”

The Washington Times pointed out in a 16 June 2021 article how Governor DeSantis said he would send help to Texas and Arizona to help with the border crisis.

FloridaGovFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis castigated the Biden administration for creating “a disaster and an emergency” at the nation’s border with Mexico and said Wednesday that he would send law enforcement to Texas and Arizona, whose Republican governors have appealed to other states for help.

DeSantis became the first governor to heed the call from his fellow Republicans, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, to send law officers to the border to help with interdiction efforts to capture those entering the country illegally — including those working for cartels trafficking illicit drugs to all corners of the country.

“America’s border security crisis impacts every state and every American,” DeSantis said in a statement. “The Biden Administration ended policies implemented by President Trump that were curbing illegal immigration, securing our border, and keeping Americans safe.”

Last week, Abbott and Ducey issued a letter seeking help from their fellow governors, claiming that the administration of President Joe Biden “has proven unwilling or unable” to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Border states like Texas and Arizona are ‘ground zero’ for this crisis and bear a disproportionate share of those burdens,” their letter said, adding that “additional manpower is needed from any state that can spare it.”

A spokesperson for U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the agency would continue to “leverage our longstanding relationships with state and local enforcement,” but deferred to state officials “to speak to any steps they are taking to increase an enforcement posture.”

Republicans have long made border security an issue and had eagerly supported Trump’s program to build walls along the nearly 2000-mile (3,220-kilometer) border between the United States and Mexico. The Biden administration has since suspended the project.

“I’m proud to announce today that the state of Florida is answering the call. Florida has your back,” DeSantis said.

But the Florida governor was scant on details, including when the personnel will head to the border – or how many. He said law officers would be sent as part of preexisting mutual aid agreements with other states, which are usually activated in times of emergencies.

DeSantis vowed to send personnel from the Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Sheriff’s offices in at least nine Florida counties also are adding to the state’s contingent of law officers. He also mentioned other support, but his office could not immediately provide details.

Last Friday, Abbott announced he would build new barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border and launch an aggressive campaign to arrest migrants.

Thank Heaven for states like Florida and Nebraska that will stand on the border

We need to show a united front against an administration willing to break the law of the land. While Biden may be willing to turn a blind eye, the rest of us cannot.
