Euthanasia

First the doctor added a depressant to the woman’s coffee.

Dutch doctor asked the family to hold grandma down as she begged not to die

The Netherlands has always been at the forefront of the anti-life agenda; however, one recent account shared through the Daily Mail provides some insight as to why the Dutch have started to turn from euthanasia (also known as mercy killing or assisted suicide).

“In the latest controversial incident the unnamed woman, who was over 80, reportedly suffered from dementia and had earlier expressed a desire for euthanasia when she deemed that ‘the time was right’.

As her situation deteriorated, it became difficult for her husband to care for her, and she was placed in a nursing home.

Medical paperwork showed that she often exhibited signs of fear and anger, and would wander around the building at nights. The nursing home senior doctor was of the opinion that she was suffering intolerably, but that she was no longer in a position where she could confirm that the time was now right for the euthanasia to go ahead.

However the doctor was of the opinion that the woman’s circumstances made it clear that the time was now right.

The doctor secretly placed a soporific in her coffee to calm her, and then had started to give her a lethal injection.

Yet while injecting the woman she woke up, and fought the doctor. The paperwork showed that the only way the doctor could complete the injection was by getting family members to help restrain her.

It also revealed that the patient said several times ‘I don’t want to die’ in the days before she was put to death, and that the doctor had not spoken to her about what was planned because she did not want to cause unnecessary extra distress. She also did not tell her about what was in her coffee as it was also likely to cause further disruptions to the planned euthanasia process.

The Review Committee concluded that the doctor ‘has crossed the line’ by giving her the first sleeping medicine, and also should have stopped when the woman resisted. The paperwork and the recommendations of the committee are now being considered by prosecutors and health officials.

Kohnstamm said he was in favour of a trial: ‘Not to punish the doctor, who acted in good faith and did what she had to do, but to get judicial clarity over what powers a doctor has when it comes to the euthanasia of patients suffering from severe dementia.’ “

To me, this seems like an excessive case of “God syndrome” on the part of that female doctor.

Europe Dives More Deeply into the Euthanasia Issue

In a 29 Sepbember 2016 OneNewsNow article the counter-intuitive trend of Europeans favoring euthanasia among its young came to light.

“There is more proof emerging from Europe that euthanasia, once legalized, will get out of hand.

The focus is on the Netherlands, where some lawmakers and members of the medical profession want to expand the age limit of children who qualify for euthanasia.

Alex Schadenberg of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition says current Dutch law states that euthanasia can be performed on children ages 12 to 16 with permission of the parents or if the child is ruled to be incompetent.

‘After (age) 16,’ he says, ‘the child just has to be deemed competent like anybody else.’

In addition, parents can have a child killed up to its first birthday. That’s also current law.

What euthanasia proponents want to do is to legalize it for children from age two through 12, believing many children may be fully aware of the consequences of a lethal injection:

‘And the belief,’ Schadenberg warns, ‘is that it’s sort of like a natural progression while you’ve allowed euthanasia.’

What the euthanasia proponents do is, he tells OneNewsNow, is convince the public to allow it, with strict guidelines. Then as it becomes more accepted in society, broaden the range of people who qualify, including children, or perhaps just those who are tired of living.

The only way to stop it, says the pro-life activist, is to not legalize it in the first place.”

I call this movement toward promoting euthanasia among the young as a “counter-intuitive” move because:

  • We must give our young every reason to live, not die.
  • We need to reinforce the value of all lives (from the womb to people in the inner city to old age)
    • We need to let the young know that their baby deserves life (even if the mom must send the baby to adoption)
    • We must work against the live-for-the-moment culture of the inner city where loose living and early deaths predominate
    • We must look out for the old who have become a burden to their children and just a cost to the government
  • We must provide hope provided by a gracious and giving God that provides in ways that are beyond the salvation-by-works plans of this world

Child euthanasia starts in Belgium

Belgium performed its first child euthanasia on a terminally-ill minor in September 2016 as reported by CTV News.

“A terminally ill minor has been helped to die in Belgium for the first time since the country did away with age restrictions on euthanasia two years ago, according to the senator who wrote the law.

Liberal Senator Jean-Jacques De Gucht confirmed the death of the sick juvenile to The Associated Press Saturday.

He said the minor was from Belgium’s Flemish region, but declined to provide any further details about the patient to protect the privacy of the grieving family.

Belgium is the only country that allows minors of any age assistance in dying, De Gucht said. In Holland, the lower age limit for euthanasia is 12 years.

‘It’s terrible when a youngster suffers, but it gives me some comfort to know that now there is a choice out there for children in the final terminal stages,’ De Gucht said. ‘It’s important that society doesn’t neglect people in such pain.’

The Belgian law has very strict rules for the euthanasia to be approved. It requires the minor to be in the final stages of a terminal illness, to understand the difference between life and death rationally and to have asked to end his or her life on repeated occasions. It also requires parental consent and finally the approval of two doctors, including a psychiatrist.

The law — one of the most far-reaching in the Western world — had wide public support when it was introduced in 2014, but was opposed by some pediatricians and the country’s Roman Catholic clergy.

Catholic teaching forbids euthanasia and the president of the Italian bishops conference on Saturday described the news of the euthanasia of a child as painful and worrisome.

‘It pains us as Christians but it also pains us as persons,’ Genoa Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco told Italian news agency ANSA.”

Words from the Light of Life

To show how important life is to God, His Son said these things:

Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:6 NASB)

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, (John 11:25 NASB)

In order that we might know where life originates, these verses in Revelation tell us of the river of life flowing from the throne of God.

Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever. (Revelation 22:1-5 NASB)

Just as God the Father give laws on life and God the Son identify himself as “the resurrection and the life,” but we also know that the Spirit gives life.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. (John 6:63 NASB)

From the beginning, the choice has been ours.  We can choose life or death.  Choose life.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them. (Deuteronomy 30:15-20 NASB)

Democrats Circle the Wagon Around Their Death-Centered Causes

Democrats Circle the Wagon Around Planned Parenthood

Aptly-named Lynch Goes after the Center for Medical Progress

NPR reported on 22 July 2015 that:

Four Democrats in Congress — Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Zoe Lofgren, Jerry Nadler, and Yvette Clarke — have written to Attorney General Loretta Lynch and California Attorney General Kamala Harris, asking them to open investigations into the Center for Medical Progress.

The Democrats say the videos were filmed as part of an “elaborate scheme” — using “fake identification” and without the approval of the Planned Parenthood doctor who appears in them.

A 22 July article in The Hill announced of the second enforcer of the Obama administration:

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Wednesday her department is going to review all information surrounding the controversial videos of Planned Parenthood officials recorded by an anti-abortion group.

‘I’m aware of those matters generally from the media, and from some inquiries that have been made to the Department of Justice [DOJ], and again at this point we’re going to review all the information and determine what steps, if any, to take at the appropriate time,’ Lynch said when asked about the videos at a press conference.

Republican members of Congress have been calling on the DOJ to investigate whether Planned Parenthood violated any laws after the first video, showing an official from the group discussing fetal tissue, surfaced.

Democrat Congress Members Seek to Protect Planned Parenthood Political Contrabutions

In a 23 July article, The Daily Signal reported:

“Democratic members of Congress have requested an investigation into the Center for Medical Progress, the group behind two undercover videos of Planned Parenthood executives.

The Center for Medical Progress has released two undercover videos in its “Human Capital” series, depicting two senior Planned Parenthood executives discussing the price “per specimen” of fetal organs such as hearts, lungs and livers.

On Wednesday, four members of Congress sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and California Attorney General Kamala Harris requesting that they launch an investigation into the Center for Medical Progress.

In a joint statement about the letter, Reps. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill.; Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif.; Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y.; and Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., say the ‘elaborate scheme’ merits investigation.

‘We are writing to request that you investigate whether any laws were broken by individuals who participated in an elaborate, multi-year scheme to impersonate corporate officials from a fake biologics company, secretly filmed video of a Planned Parenthood physician in California, and make public portions of the video without her consent,’ the members wrote in the letter.”

A Union Boss Speaks up for the Baby Killer

In a 24 July Daily Caller article:

With recent calls to defund Planned Parenthood after an official was caught on camera discussing how to harvest fetal organs, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka stepped up Friday to defend the group.

‘Calls to defund it based on doctored undercover recordings are politically motivated and wrong. We support its core mission of offering safe healthcare services to women in need,’ Trumka wrote in a statement.

Democrats and the Cult of Death

The rant by Tomi Lahren is one of several clear examples of the failure of Democrat’s support of Islam, the cult of death:

“Welcome back for some quick final thoughts tonight.  Now this won’t take long, but it’s important.

Four United States Marines are dead.  Climate change didn’t kill them. Lack of a free community college didn’t kill them. The income gap (wage inequality) — nope, not those things either.  Gay marriage — nope.  Oh, white racism — not that either.  So what did?

President Obama, if you won’t say it, I will: radical Islam.  This is not workplace violence.  This is not a criminal act with motives unknown.  This is terrorism.  The suspected shooter, Muhammad Abdulaziz, a devout Muslim.  Do I care that he seemed like an all-American young man?  Do I care that he was good at mixed martial arts or a smart, quiet guy?  Do I care that his high school friends wouldn’t classify him as ‘overly religious?’ No.  I don’t give a flying you-know-what about any of that.

Was he linked to ISIS or al Qaeda or Hamas or any of the 15+ offshoot terrorist groups? Does it matter? I’m sorry, but radical Islam is becoming the rule, not the exception. Yesterday’s moderate is today’s terrorist. I care that this S.O.B. killed four of our United States Marines, and I care that our commander-in-chief is more concerned with Muslim sensitivity than the honor and sacrifice made by these Marines.

Now this is the twenty-first time our military men and women have been attacked here at home. This is not a Middle East problem, this is an American problem, and I’m sorry but I can’t sit here and let this go. Not anymore.

I come from a family of Marines. My grandpa was a World War II paratrooper. My uncle a Vietnam Purple Heart recipient. My cousins both Marine Corps officers. I have some very close Navy SEAL connections as well. In fact, someone very close to my heart is deployed to the Middle East right now.  But thing is, I was telling him last night: ‘I think you’re safer over there than you would be right here in the United States of America.’

I’ve had it with this failed strategy, this halfway, half-baked, tip-toe, be-friendly-to-jihadis mentality pushed by this administration.

Be a leader! Someone! They, the radical Islamists have brought the fight right here to the red, white and blue and it’s about time we bring it to them — full force.

Let’s show them what the United States of America looks like up close and personal — show them what a B-1 Bomber looks like flying overhead — show them what they’re messing with.

Put the fear of God in their desert, because clearly our lack of strategy isn’t working.”

Democrats and Euthanasia

Just as the Democrat party leads the fledgling effort to create a euthanasia law in Massachusetts, the Democratic party in Oregon, Washington, and California were central to the efforts to establish euthanasia in those states.  As all know, those efforts were successful in Oregon and Washington while the issue seems to have died in California.  Still, as long as Democrats remain to be the party of death, we can expect these laws to resurrect.
