A Plea to base Life-changing Decisions for Dependent Children on Facts

The American College of Pediatrics reminds us that enforcing transgender ideology on children is child abuse

In an updated statement made during January 2017, the American College of Pediatrics urged pediatricians and practitioners to remember that facts, not ideology, determine reality and that chemical and surgical efforts to circumvent nature will cause irreparable harm.

“The American College of Pediatricians urges healthcare professionals, educators and legislators to reject all policies that condition children to accept as normal a life of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex. Facts – not ideology – determine reality.

  1. Human sexuality is an objective biological binary trait: “XY” and “XX” are genetic markers of male and female, respectively – not genetic markers of a disorder. The norm for human design is to be conceived either male or female. Human sexuality is binary by design with the obvious purpose being the reproduction and flourishing of our species. This principle is self-evident. The exceedingly rare disorders of sex development (DSDs), including but not limited to testicular feminization and congenital adrenal hyperplasia, are all medically identifiable deviations from the sexual binary norm, and are rightly recognized as disorders of human design. Individuals with DSDs (also referred to as “intersex”) do not constitute a third sex.1
  2. No one is born with a gender. Everyone is born with a biological sex. Gender (an awareness and sense of oneself as male or female) is a sociological and psychological concept; not an objective biological one. No one is born with an awareness of themselves as male or female; this awareness develops over time and, like all developmental processes, may be derailed by a child’s subjective perceptions, relationships, and adverse experiences from infancy forward. People who identify as “feeling like the opposite sex” or “somewhere in between” do not comprise a third sex. They remain biological men or biological women.2,3,4
  3. A person’s belief that he or she is something they are not is, at best, a sign of confused thinking. When an otherwise healthy biological boy believes he is a girl, or an otherwise healthy biological girl believes she is a boy, an objective psychological problem exists that lies in the mind not the body, and it should be treated as such. These children suffer from gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria (GD), formerly listed as Gender Identity Disorder (GID), is a recognized mental disorder in the most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association (DSM-V).5 The psychodynamic and social learning theories of GD/GID have never been disproved.2,4,5
  4. Puberty is not a disease and puberty-blocking hormones can be dangerous. Reversible or not, puberty- blocking hormones induce a state of disease – the absence of puberty – and inhibit growth and fertility in a previously biologically healthy child.6
  5. According to the DSM-V, as many as 98% of gender confused boys and 88% of gender confused girls eventually accept their biological sex after naturally passing through puberty.5
  6. Pre-pubertal children who use puberty blockers to impersonate the opposite sex will require cross-sex hormones in late adolescence. This combination leads to permanent sterility. These children will never be able to conceive any genetically related children even via artificial reproductive technology. In addition, cross-sex hormones (testosterone and estrogen) are associated with dangerous health risks including but not limited to cardiac disease, high blood pressure, blood clots, stroke, diabetes, and cancer.7,8,9,10,11
  7. Rates of suicide are nearly twenty times greater among adults who use cross-sex hormones and undergo sex reassignment surgery, even in Sweden which is among the most LGBTQ – affirming countries.12 What compassionate and reasonable person would condemn young children to this fate knowing that after puberty as many as 88% of girls and 98% of boys will eventually accept reality and achieve a state of mental and physical health?
  8. Conditioning children into believing a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse. Endorsing gender discordance as normal via public education and legal policies will confuse children and parents, leading more children to present to ‘gender clinics’ where they will be given puberty-blocking drugs. This, in turn, virtually ensures they will ‘choose’ a lifetime of carcinogenic and otherwise toxic cross-sex hormones, and likely consider unnecessary surgical mutilation of their healthy body parts as young adults.”

Since we are called to be the protectors of children, it sounds like it is high time that we assume that mantle.

Note that this article does not present a prohibition for adults to take their own path. While I don’t agree with this lifestyle, if God does not force conformation, neither will I.

Additionally, this is not a condemnation of either children or adults that feel this compunction.  As far as the adults who feel this compunction, they will have to wait for another article.  This is about the needs of children.  For the children who feel this compunction, we must work to protect them.

From this point, this article points out the irreparable harm by well-meaning people who administer body-altering chemicals to young bodies.  Additionally, it points out the coercive effects of our educational and media outlets with their current trajectories of thought.  Therefore, we must be aware of these powers (to damage a child based on the child’s current feelings) and these forces (of media and the education establishment).  With these things in mind, we must work toward the best interests of the child.

The Innocence of a Baby’s Prayers

This second baby prayer video can be found at JumbleJoy.

A Baby’s Prayers

When a child repeats a prayer while under the gaze of a parent, that prayer may be offered to please the parent.  However, when the child prays while alone, that child has started to cement her (or his) own relationship with God.

After putting their baby daughter to bed, the Whitts heard noises in the baby’s room.  On further inspection, the noise turned out to be the prayers of their daughter.

And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:2-4 NASB)

Babies are just about as humble as people can be. They know that they must depend on others for food. They reach out their arms when they seek to be carried.

In the video above, the baby asks for God’s blessings on those who care for her (mom, dad, Santa, …).

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 NASB)

We should all note something that separates our prayer from the prayer of this baby: there is no anxious tone in the baby’s voice. Additionally, I doubt that the baby followed up this prayer with anxious attempts to fulfill the requests on her own.

Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 NASB)

You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up. (Deuteronomy 11:19 NASB)

With my limited knowledge of this baby, I can still say that her parents seem to have fulfilled the commandments of these verses.

Making Family a Priority Means Carving Out Time

Through the 11 minutes of reading to his daughters from the Senate floor, Ted Cruz proved a number of things that he seems to believe:

  1. First, he seemed to demonstrate that, even if you are busy on the Senate floor, you can and should carve out time for your children
  2. By quoting “Children with good sense make their parents happy, but foolish children make them sad,” he held the Bible to be a good standard of conduct for his children
  3. By following that with “Sweethearts, you make your mommy and me very happy,” he demonstrates that it is almost always a good time to praise your children
  4. By following the reading of the Bible with Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, he seems to show that there is a place for whimsy during otherwise serious situations

Additionally, as the following video shows, the only thing that most American media outlets want to do is to:

  1. Ignore their perceived enemies (such as a conservative Hispanic in the Senate)
  2. Ignore the will of the people (such as the 53% of Americans who oppose Obamacare in Sept. 2013)
  3. And push their own agenda while pretending to deliver the news

Those interested in the Biblical texts pertinent to this post should look at Psalms 127: 3-5 (where children are described as a blessing), Proverbs 15:20 (where it observes that a wise son makes a father happy), and the converse of Colossians 3: 21 (where fathers are told to not embitter their children or they will become discouraged).

Regarding the verses that would apply to the media outlets, there are the verses of Proverbs 9: 7-9:

Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;
  whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.
Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you;
  rebuke the wise and they will love you.
Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
  teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.
