Brain insulin resistance in Alzheimer’s disease and its potential treatment with GLP-1 analogs

A brain insulin regimen may work against Alzheimer’s disease

As published at the National Center for Biotechnology Information at least one study indicates that an application of insulin to the brain may be central to preventing or treating Alzheimer’s disease.

The prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease is increasing rapidly in the absence of truly effective therapies. A promising strategy for developing such therapies is the treatment of brain insulin resistance, a common and early feature of Alzheimer’s disease, closely tied to cognitive decline and capable of promoting many biological abnormalities in the disorder. The proximal cause of brain insulin resistance appears to be neuronal elevation in the serine phosphorylation of IRS-1, most likely due to amyloid-β-triggered microglial release of proinflammatory cytokines. Preclinically, the first line of defense is behavior-lowering peripheral insulin resistance (e.g., physical exercise and a Mediterranean diet supplemented with foods rich in flavonoids, curcumin and ω-3 fatty acids). More potent remediation is required, however, at clinical stages. Fortunately, the US FDA-approved antidiabetics exenatide (Byetta®; Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., CA, USA) and liraglutide (Victoza®; Novo Nordisk A/S, Bagsvaerd, Denmark) are showing much promise in reducing Alzheimer’s disease pathology and in restoring normal brain insulin responsiveness and cognitive function.

During this age where overweight predominates the society almost as much as COVID predominates the newscasts, this is welcome news

Truth of the matter is that diabetes and overweight weighs against most people as a more immediate problem than other issues. Certainly it presents a greater problem than a disease that over 99% of people under 75 survive.

Therefore, to find information that links our current obesity epidemic to a way of staving off Alzheimer’s disease (an epidemic in itself), comes as a welcome bit of news. Hopefully, this will go toward motivating people to not only exercise and lose weight, but also to seek this treatment should they fall into a low brain-insulin condition.

Batten down the hatches, the storm will soon begin

Rather than learn from history, Jobama follows the failed example of his failed leader

While we already experience empty shelves, Biden mandates firing of employees and providing more paid sick leave

As even the liberal New York Times reports, Biden has set a 4 January 2022 deadline for starting his vaccine mandate.

BidenNotEnoughSenseThe Biden administration on Thursday set Jan. 4 as the deadline for large companies to mandate coronavirus vaccinations or start weekly testing of their workers, the government’s biggest effort yet to enlist private businesses in combating the virus.

The new rule, applying to companies with 100 or more employees, is expected to cover 84 million workers, roughly 31 million of whom are unvaccinated. It lays out details of a plan President Biden announced in September, invoking emergency powers over workplace safety.

In a separate measure that will affect 17 million more workers, nursing homes and other health care facilities that receive Medicare and Medicaid funds must ensure all employees are vaccinated by Jan. 4, with no option for testing. The president has previously imposed vaccine requirements on federal workers, a group that totals more than four million people, and companies that have federal contracts. (The latter group’s deadline was pushed to Jan. 4, from early December.)

But the mandate on large private businesses is the most far-reaching and potentially controversial measure in the government’s efforts to fight the pandemic. Attorneys general in at least 24 states have threatened to sue. Republican governors and some industry trade groups have opposed the requirement, and the 20 percent of U.S. adults who remain unvaccinated may take issue as well.

And the administration is considering going even further. The Labor Department said it had opened a 30-day comment period on whether it should extend the rules to smaller companies.

The rule does, however, instruct employers to require masks for unvaccinated workers by Dec. 5. Companies must provide paid time off for vaccinations and sick leave for side effects as needed. The requirement does not apply to remote and outdoor workers. Some major companies including Tyson Foods and United Airlines have already embraced vaccine mandates. But for many that have been fearful of resistance, the new requirement provides cover to enforce mandates and clarification on a range of questions, including who will pay for testing and whether it applies to employees who work at home.

Employers are not required to either pay for or provide tests, though some may still be compelled to do so by other laws or agreements with unions. Forcing unvaccinated employees to pay for tests, the rule notes, “will provide a financial incentive for some employees to be fully vaccinated.”

Companies that fail to comply may be fined. An OSHA penalty is typically $13,653 for every serious violation, but can be up to 10 times that amount if OSHA determines that the violation is willful or repeated.

OSHA approaches enforcement in a number of ways: It can target inspections at high-risk industries, or it can inspect workplaces in response to complaints or news reports about unsafe conditions.

Why would we expect Joe to really learn from Barack?

Just as Barack issued the DACA executive order just after the 2014 mid-terms, Joe Biden has decided to give the middle-finger salute to America in response to their rejection of CRT and other socialist themes. Of course, in Obama’s case, the failure of Obamacare and then the finger-in-the-eye of DACA was (in large part) what gave us President Trump.

In Joe’s case (just to enter this phase), Joe has been denying that the inflation and supply-chain problems that have wrecked and wracked America for nearly ten months have come from:

  • A misguided, largely Democrat-mandated COVID-lockdown of America,
  • Overly-generous unemployment benefits (usually implemented in Democrat states), and
  • Fearmongering by those in the press and Government.

Now, we find him doubling down on the above mistakes by:

  • In many cases needlessly reducing our experienced workforce (since many have natural immunity through having caught COVID),
  • Putting the segment of the workforce that chooses later vaccination into paid sick leave as they recover from complications from the jab,
  • Imposing business-killing fines when employees refuse vaccinations (aka punishing someone for another person’s purported crime — since Biden has made illness a crime),
  • Forcing businesses — especially the trucking industry — to endure the nightmare of replacing (and, therefore, training the replacements) all of those fired or put on sick leave,
  • Forcing the unvaccinated to violate their medical privacy by having them self-identify through the masking requirement in this mandate, and
  • Extending the government’s control through COVID (which was most of the point of the fearmongering — unless you count the fearmongering Democrat press — who were partially out for the ratings).

Therefore, we can expect longer and more inflation (since Biden’s Fed will be printing more money than there will be goods produced). Additionally, we can expect even more inflation, because people taking new or additional jobs don’t do it for charity wages. We can expect more supply-chain disruptions, since there will be fewer experienced people out there to drive the trucks, unload the barges, sell the cars, and do the American unglamorous work.

Biden’s vaccine mandate has disastrous results in the military

Army surgeon grounds newly-vaccinated pilots after they develop serious chest pain

The Western Journal reports that pilots are being grounded after taking Biden’s mandated COVID vaccination.

groundedcopter“I believe the COVID vaccine is a greater threat to soldiers’ health and military readiness than the virus itself,” U.S. Army aerospace physician Lt. Col. Theresa Long said Tuesday.

Long, who is senior flight surgeon at the U.S. Army Flight School at Fort Rucker, Alabama, was addressing a roundtable discussion put together by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin). She said she was speaking under federal military whistleblower protection.

She recalled how “I saw five patients in clinic – two of which presented with chest pain – days to weeks after vaccination and were subsequently diagnosed with pericarditis and worked up to rule out myocarditis.

“The third pilot had been vaccinated and felt like he was drunk – chronically fatigued within 24 hours after vaccination. The pilot told me he didn’t know what to do, so he drank a lot of coffee to try and ‘wake himself up’ and continued to fly, until he realized it wasn’t going away.”

From the beginning, we knew that both COVID and the mRNA “vaccination” caused inflammation in critical organs

We knew from the first reports on COVID that it caused the heart, lungs, and brain to swell. Likewise, we knew that the mRNA treatment was designed to cause the body to react to the virus in a lessened, but similar, fashion. Therefore, we knew that the reaction to the treatment would be swelling of the heart, lungs, and brain.

From that, it should have been no surprise when a teen dies after getting the COVID vaccine or another vaccinated teen dies while exerting himself on the football field. Certainly, it should not cause a stir when a healthy pre-teen becomes in capacitated by the experimental “vaccine.”

Nonetheless, one would think that those in charge of both COVID mandates and the military might start to put two and two together. That is, in case they are not attempting to tank the economy and turn all Americans against them (at which point they will proclaim martial law), maybe they should start doing things for the BENEFIT of America.

Or does that ask too much of Dementia Joe (you know, the guy napping at the Climate Crisis convention while issuing COVID mandates)?

The effect of Biden’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate

For police

Seattle business owner fears vaccine mandate will lengthen 911 response time: ‘I can’t get help’

Fox News reports on the effects of the Biden vaccine mandate on the Seattle Police Department.

Seattle business owners are fearing the looming vaccine mandate deadline for police officers and firefighters will further lengthen response time to 911 calls, as the city that saw months of violent demonstrations last year already grapples with police staffing shortages and surging crime.

Maher Youssef, owner of Youssef’s Pluto Organic Café in Belltown, told KING 5 News he’s dialed 911 several dozen times over the past few years, including for two separate break-ins which were captured by the coffee shop’s surveillance camera.

Seattle police responded to both robberies, but Youssef said response times were lengthy and staffing shortages expected to worsen with Monday’s vaccine mandate deadline for the city and state could worsen business.

“I feel like I’m on my own. I can’t get help from anywhere. I just open the door every day and don’t know if I’m going to go home safe and good to my family or if something is going to happen,” Youssef said. “The tourists are not going to come, the people are not going to go out of their home to buy things. It’s going to be like a ghost city.”

The extent of the vaccine mandate on police staffing shortages won’t be known until after Monday’s deadline. Oct. 18 is the date Seattle, King County and Washington State employees are required to submit proof of full vaccination, request an exemption or face termination.

Seattle Police Officers Guild President Mike Solan said officers won’t face immediate termination Monday, but instead, those who choose not to get vaccinated against COVID-19 will receive notice for a  “Loudermill hearing,” or a public forum where an employee can present their reasoning for going against the mandate before formal separation. An internal memo distributed by the King County Sheriff’s Office Thursday indicated deputies who don’t get vaccinated will also be affording similar hearings before being terminated.

As of last Wednesday, the Seattle Police Department activated its emergency three-stage mobilization plan, which involves sending detectives and non-patrol officers to emergency calls because of a shortage of patrol officers. The Seattle Fire Department canceled non-essential training and community events as part of its contingency plan.

“That’s what this contingency is in place for, so that we do have officers who are available to handle 911 calls, not knowing what our numbers are going to be on October 18th,” Sgt. Randy Huserik told KING. “Our first concern is those priority one calls, those crimes in progress and whatnot, and having the staffing levels available to respond to those high priority calls first.”

Joe wants to pretend that (after years of “Sure, we can transfer that money from police”) a few kind words at a memorial service will heal all

Over the weekend, the leader of the Democrats spoke a few supportive words for the police; however, those were accompanied by additional calls for police reform. So, sorry, Joe. You won’t put out a fire by sprinkling water and following that with gasoline.

Additionally, when you have backed the police into a corner for over two years through your policy and now a senseless vaccine of people who likely have developed a natural immunity by catching COVID-19, you may not like the response you get.

Dozens Of Massachusetts State Police have resigned over a vaccine mandate

National Public Radio tells us how a number of the Massachusetts State Police have resigned over the Biden vaccine mandate.

MSPDozens of Massachusetts State Police troopers have put in their resignation papers following the state’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, the State Police Association of Massachusetts said.

Under Gov. Charlie Baker’s executive order issued last month, all executive department employees are required to show proof of vaccination on or before Oct. 17, or they will be fired.

“It is unfortunate that the Governor and his team have chosen to mandate one of the most stringent vaccine mandates in the country with no reasonable alternatives,” State Police Association President Michael Cherven said in a statement.

Chervin said the troopers should have “reasonable alternatives” to being required to get vaccinated such as wearing masks and being tested regularly.

(Read about the “alternatives” at NPR)

It looks like the Democrats are not the only ones showing solidarity

I can understand how the state troopers would stand together against a vaccine mandate when (first) they have worked as the shield for the state against a criminal element throughout a pandemic and (second) they may have caught the virus and developed their own immunity during this pandemic.

However, I really don’t understand the Democrats not looking at the science and listening to their people. Why listen to a doddering old socialist rather than people who support you?

Seattle police staffing woes prompt emergency dispatch plan as vaccine mandate for officers looms

Fox News points out how the Biden vaccine mandate has prompted a emergency dispatch plan in Seattle.

Seattle’s police department is sending detectives and non-patrol officers to respond to emergency calls because of a shortage of patrol officers that union leaders fear will become worse because of COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

Due to the staffing crunch, the Seattle Police Department activated its emergency three-stage mobilization plan on Wednesday, KING reported.

It involves all on-duty sworn personnel, including detectives, education and training section employees and people within the department with patrol backgrounds reporting to their shifts in uniform and ready to respond to 911 calls if necessary.

Should the department receive a credible threat “that has the potential to cause significant harm, property destruction or wide-spread public fear,” the plan requires that normal dispatch will be modified, impacting its ability to conduct routine operations.

The department has lost more than 300 officers over the past year, KOMO reported. Nearly 300 more could face termination if they do not comply with an Oct. 18 deadline to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

“We can’t afford to lose one, that’s how desperate we are to hold onto people,” police union president Mike Solan said. “If we lose more officers, the public safety situation will become that much more untenable here.”

This is just the foretaste of things to come

In my view, this dictatorial type of government (decried loudly by Democrats in the press and politics during the Trump administration, when it didn’t exist) will lead to a dependence on government over God.

Also along a similar line, this type of government will lead to a softening of thought. Therefore, people will not resist true tyranny when it presents itself.

For the military

Many troops have not complied with COVID-19 vaccine mandate

Sherman, Texas Fox affiliate KXII says in a 11 October 2021 report that many troops have not complied with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Hundreds of thousands of members of the U.S. military remain unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated as deadlines approach for the Pentagon’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

According to a review of data published in Sunday’s Washington Post, the rate of COVID-19 vaccination among the armed services varies a great deal.

For instance, vaccine compliance in the active-duty Navy is 90%.

But for the Marine Corps, it’s 72%, though both services share the same Nov. 28 deadline.

For health care workers

Central Maine Medical Center suspends pediatric, trauma admissions

Portland, Maine ABC affiliate WMTW reports that the Central Maine Medical Center suspended pediatric and trauma admissions due to resignations in response to Biden’s vaccine mandate.

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston is temporarily suspending admissions for certain patients.

Tuesday, Central Maine Health Care issued a statement clarifying the changes in care.

The hospital announced on Monday on its website that pediatric and trauma patients who arrive at the Emergency Department will be assessed and stabilized, but if they need to be admitted, they will be sent to another facility.

STEMI (heart attack) patients were originally on the list of those who were going to be diverted, but Tuesday’s statement changed that policy, now saying STEMI patients will be admitted.

The diversion plan for pediatric patients will be in place until further notice, whereas the situation for trauma patients will be re-evaluated every 24 hours.

Additionally, Central Maine Medical Center’s neo-natal ICU will close on October 25th.

In their statement, Central Maine Health Care blames the ongoing staffing shortage they are dealing with. As of Tuesday morning, their website showed 554 job postings within the network. That included 331 in Lewiston.

This has happened all over America

In Houston, the Methodist hospital system laid off 178 employees who refused the vaccine mandate.

In New York, Northwell Health laid off 1,400 employees who defied the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

New York hospital to stop delivering babies as staffers quit over vaccine mandate

USA Today shares on the effects of the Biden vaccine mandate on the a rural New York hospital.

A hospital in rural New York is pausing its maternity services as employees quit instead of getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

Six employees at the Lewis County Health System have resigned, and seven more are unwilling to get vaccinated, meaning Lewis County General Hospital will stop delivering babies for the time being, multiple news outlets reported

“We are unable to safely staff the service after Sept. 24,” Lewis County Health System CEO Gerald Cayer said at a news conference.

The move appears to be temporary. During the pause in maternity services, Cayer said, the health system will focus on recruiting nurses to get baby deliveries back up and running.

“We have a challenge to work through with the vaccination mandate,” Cayer said.

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo passed a mandate Aug. 16 to ensure that all health care workers in New York must be vaccinated. More specifically, hospitals and long term care facility employees need to get their first dose of the vaccine by Sep. 27.

Just imagine going to an emergency room with an emergency now

Imagine that emergency room being even more packed with Biden’s illegal aliens because they have been told they can have their flu or cold or bursitis treated there. Imagine now that there are 1/2 of the nurses and doctors. And imagine that the nurses and doctors who are there have been imported from nations where a bedside manner does not receive priority.

Imagine no more.

For supply chain workers

Big truckers say vaccine mandate could push drivers away

The Wall Street Journal reports on the words of truckers as they react to the Biden vaccine mandate.

Big trucking companies say a federal vaccination and testing mandate aimed at curbing the spread of the Covid-19 virus could push more workers away from their operations and deepen upheaval in U.S. supply chains.

Executives say the proposed testing requirements for workers who choose not to get vaccinated could also pose challenges for trucking companies whose fleets haul goods long distances, often along irregular routes that send drivers from one corner of the country to another over several days or weeks.

The impact, they say, would hit companies already struggling to hire and retain drivers in a tight labor market and add to pressure on logistics networks that are straining to keep stores stocked and factories humming.

“We’re in an industry where we can’t afford any fallout. We don’t have enough drivers today,” said Eric Fuller, chief executive of U.S. Xpress Enterprises Inc., a large trucking carrier based in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Under the plan President Biden announced last week, companies with 100 or more employees would have to require that their workers be vaccinated or undergo at least weekly testing for the virus.

Trucking companies are among the businesses navigating a tricky path on vaccinations, with some blue-collar workers bristling at employer mandates and companies have been reluctant to alienate staffers in a tight labor market. The  Occupational Safety and Health Administration plans to roll the federal requirement out in coming weeks via an emergency temporary standard.

U.S. Xpress is encouraging its roughly 10,000-person workforce, which includes about 7,000 drivers, to get the Covid-19 shot. The company estimates that just under half of its drivers are vaccinated. But the carrier isn’t requiring its workers to get the vaccine, “and we’re not necessarily comfortable with the government mandating it,” Mr. Fuller said.

Trucking companies worry that workers who balk at the requirements could decamp for smaller fleets that don’t fall under the mandate or turn to gig-economy jobs, further shrinking the pool of drivers at a time when a shortage of transport capacity is slowing delivery times and driving up costs for retailers and manufacturers.

Mr. Fuller said that the federal requirement could “create additional stress on each point of the supply chain,” rippling across trucking, warehousing and manufacturing workforces and potentially creating “the situation where we have empty shelves.”

(Read specifics of supply-chain worries at the Wall Street Journal)

Again, we are seeing the tip of the spear

From all I can tell, this is just the beginning.

Big truckers say vaccine mandate could push drivers away

Reports at Chicago’s WKBN back up the Wall Street Journal report as truckers react to the Biden vaccine mandate.

President Joe Biden’s recently announced sweeping vaccine requirements for as many as 100 million Americans is resulting in some truckers across the country quitting their jobs.

“The biggest problem drivers are having is that they don’t trust the vaccine, they’re scared of the side effects, the government forcing it on them,” said Michael Kucharski, vice president of JKC Trucking.

Kucharski said he supports the vaccine and educating employees about their benefits, but does not support Biden’s mandate for companies with 100 employees or more to require vaccinations.

The Biden administration has said that companies will face $13,600 in fines per violation. Employees that do not want to get vaccinated are supposed to be tested weekly.

“We are hurting. So if a truck driver quits, he could call 20 truck companies right now, and over the phone all 20 will hire him instantly,” Kucharski said. “We’re all fighting over the same drivers. Not only are we being hammered by COVID right now and the driver shortage, now this mandate comes along and it’s going to make it even worse for us to retain these employees.”

Is it time to apply Matthew 18:15-20 to Liberal America due to the “abortion after birth” law, more lies on Hunter, and the lies about COVID?

For quite while, questions about secession, civil war, and Title 25 have dominated some conversations. Problem is, secession and civil war will both likely cost many lives. Title 25 requires a lot of political agreement (and, therefore, takes time).

As Christians, we should consider the Biblical (but still isolating) way.

Pro-abortion Democrats passed a so-called Women’s Health Protection Act and deny the saving of babies born alive after abortion

Townhall points to how far down the road to Gomorrah we have gone.

Earlier on Friday, as Reagan reported, the Democratic controlled House of Representatives passed the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA). The 218-211 vote was almost entirely along party lines, except Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) voted against it. Not only did Democrats vote to pass such extreme pro-abortion legislation, they also denied the motion to recommit, which would have amended the bill to include protections for babies born alive after abortions.

Rep. Julia Letlow (R-LA), while speaking on the House floor, indicated “this amendment is simple, straightforward, and the right thing to do. It would ensure that newborn children that survive an abortion are given the same crucial life saving medical care that any other infant would receive.”

Christians cannot support this

Christians cannot support a regime who would support this. Therefore, any claim by a politician to support this murder while also claiming Christianity is nothing but self-delusion.

Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, preachers have voiced this message: You cannot claim Christianity while being against the tenets of the Bible. To take the words of Christ from Luke 16:13 (NASB)

No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”

Pelosi, the people pulling Joe Biden’s strings, and all those who truly support this group serve the master of power. They bow no knee to any other god or God. Any pretention to anything otherwise is delusion.

Therefore, Christians need to confront other Christians who may be involved in this in a loving, Matthew 18:15-20 manner.

Three years after Mueller disproved the narrative and less than a month after Durham indicts Michael Sussman with another stone to that grave, Psaki dodges Doocy’s question on Hunter Biden’s laptop with her standard lie: “Russian disinformation”

The Daily Caller parades another of Psaki’s continual lies as she defends the indefensible regime.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters during a press briefing Friday that the information found on Hunter Biden’s laptop is Russian disinformation.

Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy noted a recent report in Politico regarding the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s laptop before asking Psaki if the White House is still classifying the information found on the device as Russian disinformation. Psaki dodged Doocy’s question and told him that there was a “broad range of Russian disinformation back in 2020.”

Thank heavens for Peter Doocy; however, we need more

We need more than one member of the press who is willing to call out or at least highlight the lies of the Biden regime. Peter Doocy must be a little diplomatic (otherwise, his one spot would be cancelled).

Still, if we had more, we might be able to get more truth.

Therefore, as citizens and Christians, we must press our representative in the House and our Senators. We must call on our state politicians to raise Cain with the lawless federal government.

COVID does not make Biden king

American Family News provides a commentary from AFR general counsel Abraham Hamilton III, who points out that there is no American monarchy.

On September 8, 2021, Politico published an article titled “The Surprisingly Strong Supreme Court Precedent Supporting Vaccine Mandates.” In it, the author works feverishly to project the argument that the 1905 United States Supreme Court decision against Lutheran minister Henning Jacobson and in favor of the state of Massachusetts’ compulsory vaccination mandate (concerning smallpox) provides the legal footing necessary to uphold…wait for it…a U.S. governmental COVID-19 injection mandate. Then, almost on cue, on September 9, 2021, the J. Robinette B. Administration announced “Sweeping New Vaccine Mandates for 100 million Americans.” Gasp! How was Politico so prescient? They just so happened to release their article on vaccine mandates the day before Mr. Biden announced an injection mandate. They weren’t trying to lay the social groundwork for the White House’s executive action, were they?

We do not yet have the formal publication of the executive action. However, according to reports (including the AP News story cited above), the federal action mandates “that all employers with more than 100 workers require them to be vaccinated or test for the virus weekly.” This will affect about 80 million Americans. And,

“The roughly 17 million workers at health facilities that receive federal Medicare or Medicaid also will have to be fully vaccinated.”

The mandate also requires “vaccination for executive branch employees and contractors who do business with the federal government—with no option to test out.” This includes several million more workers. Finally,

“The requirement for large companies to mandate vaccinations or weekly testing for employees will be enacted through a forthcoming rule from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) that carries penalties of $14,000 per violation.”

In the midst of all of this, AP News reported,

“Biden’s order for executive branch workers and contractors includes exceptions for workers seeking religious or medical exemptions from vaccination, according to press secretary Jen Psaki” (in the link cited above).

Yet, in addition to this newly announced intrusion upon the private employment sector, separately,

“[T]he Department of Health and Human Services will require vaccinations in Head Start Programs, as well as schools run by the Department of Defense and Bureau of Indian Education, affecting about 300,000 employees.”

Having said all of that, every ounce of this proposed executive action is illegal and unconstitutional. The United States of America is a constitutional republic with representative democratic features. Our Constitution separates power within the federal government. In our federal executive branch, we have a president. Not a king! In our republican form of government, as expressed in Article IV, Section 4 of our U.S. Constitution, we enjoy the benefit of separate sovereignty. The bulk of emergency power in our nation rests in state government. Not in the U.S. executive branch. A president’s role and powers are different than those charged with state governance. Article 2 of our U.S. Constitution sets the parameter, the limits, for executive power. Nowhere in it will you find any authority whatsoever for the J. Robinette B. Administration to compel private companies to force their staffs to inject their bodies with anything or to test them. Period.

Interestingly, when you read the Jacobson v. Massachusetts, 197 U.S. 11 (1905) opinion Politico cited, you find that the opinion doesn’t support the unconstitutional authoritarian overreach proposed by the White House. In Jacobson, the Court ruled that it is within the police power of a State to enact a compulsory vaccination law. And it is for the legislature, and not for the courts, to determine in the first instance whether vaccination is or is not the best mode for the prevention of smallpox and the protection of the public health. “The State” in Jacobson was the state of Massachusetts. “The legislature” was the Massachusetts state legislature. The federal executive branch has no legal authority to do this. The opinion Politico tried to pass off as legal authority for a national injection mandate is clearly distinguishable from and cuts directly against what the Biden administration is trying to force on the American people.

More specifically, they seek to shove it into our bodies without our consent. OSHA has no more authority to do this than did the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to issue an eviction moratorium. This is why the U.S. Supreme Court struck that down too. Which, Mr. Biden knew but sought to expand anyway, even after the Court rebuked him. That should give you an indication of his respect, or lack thereof, for the rule of law.

As much as the sheep in the press want us to be shorn by the by the Satanic shepherd, Christians need to seek the true Shepherd

We need to be able to seek the voice of the Shepherd (the Word) by staying familiar with God’s Word. If we know the Word and keep it hidden in our hearts, not only may we not sin (Psalm 119:11), we might also discern when false teachers try to introduce a new gospel (Galatians 1:6-9).

A series of secret recordings by Project Veritas reveal lies being told by Biden CDC

Project Veritas provides us a view behind the veil of the medical/bureaucratic COVID conspiracy.

O’Malley told Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe about what has been going on at her federal government facility. She recorded her HHS colleagues discussing their concerns about the new COVID vaccine to corroborate her assertions:

Dr. Maria Gonzales, ER Doctor, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: “The problem in here is that they are not doing the studies. People that had [COVID] and the people that have been vaccinated — they’re not doing any antibody testing.”

Jodi O’Malley, Insider and Registered Nurse, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: “Nope.”

Dr. Gonzales: “Everybody is quiet with that. Why?”

O’Malley: “Now, you got this guy in Room Four who got his second dose of the [COVID] vaccine on Tuesday and has been short of breath. Okay? Now his BNP is elevated. D diver elevated, ALT, all his liver enzymes are elevated. His PTPTINR is elevated.”

Dr. Gonzales: “He’s probably got myocarditis!”

O’Malley: “Yes!”

Dr. Gonzales: “All this is bullshit. Now probably myocarditis due to the vaccine.”

O’Malley: “Right.”

Dr. Gonzales: “But now, they [government] are not going to blame the vaccine.”

O’Malley: “Well and you know what — but he has an obligation to report that doesn’t he? It happened right — what is it — sixty days after if you see anything?”

Dr. Gonzales: “They have got to.”

O’Malley: “But how many are reporting?”

Dr. Gonzales: “They are not reporting.”

O’Malley: “Right!”

Dr. Gonzales: “Because they want to shove it under the mat.”

Real Clear Politics reviews a recent Full Measure episode where Sharyl Attkisson explores how COVID deaths may have been over-counted by 100% or more.

SharylAttkisson“Full Measure” host Sharyl Attkisson investigates how Covid-19 cases and deaths are being counted and finds some suspicious overcounting:

As hindsight comes into clearer focus, we’re learning a lot about mistaken advice and policies amid the Covid-19 pandemic. One still murky and disputed area involves the death toll, now upwards of 640,000 in the U.S., according to CDC. Some insist the true count is much higher; others claim it’s lower. Today, we begin with the startling results of our investigation that found in some documented cases, news that Covid was the cause of death was greatly exaggerated.

Grand County, Colorado, rural country a hundred miles outside of Denver.

Thanksgiving 2020, Lucais Reilly shoots his wife Kristin in the head, then turns the gun on himself, committing suicide. They have alcohol and drugs in their system and a history of domestic troubles.

Grand County coroner Brenda Bock explains how the small town tragedy is exposing serious questions about the way Covid deaths are counted.

Brenda Bock: I had a homicide-suicide the end of November, and the very next day it showed up on the state website as Covid deaths. And they were gunshot wounds. And I questioned that immediately because I had not even signed off the death certificates yet, and the state was already reporting them as Covid deaths.

Bock says somebody, somewhere had apparently run the couple’s names through a database showing they’d tested positive for Covid within 28 days of their death. Then recorded them as Covid deaths even though they died of gunshots.

Sharyl: If we look at the death certificates for the murder-suicide case, what will it say about Covid?

Bock: Nothing, absolutely nothing. I paid a forensic pathologist to do the autopsies on those two cases. And nowhere is COVID mentioned on those death certificates. Nowhere.

Bock: This is a copy of the death certificate, and nowhere does it say COVID. So we have a homicide, suicide, nothing to do with COVID.

But when we checked in July, the New York Times tally over-reported Grand County’s 2020 Covid death toll by least 500%. It was missing one resident who reportedly died of Covid outside of the county. But the Times counted the unrelated heart attack; the two people who were alive – which were removed from the state total; and the murder-suicide of Lucais and Kristin Reilly.

Sharyl: What are the implications nationwide when we’re looking at numbers then?

Bock: I believe they’re very inflated. And don’t get me wrong. I believe Covid is real. And I believe people do get very sick from it. And I do believe a small number do die from that. I do not believe a homicide-suicide belongs in that number. I don’t, because my job is to tell the truth about why a person died, the cause and the manner. And I don’t believe that what’s going on is the truth.

When I heard a bit of Sharyl Atkisson’s presentation on Full Measure, it clicked.

The idea that non-COVID deaths had been reported as COVID deaths rang true. This may be based on the fact that the main stream media just will not stop pounding the COVID topic. It may come from the lies that the media has been caught pushing. Or it may originate with the occasional story on how Democrats hide the truth surrounding an outbreak thought to be COVID.

Nonetheless, the Democrats in office and in the press have spent all of their trust.

Biden Timed Vaccine Mandate Announcement to Distract from Afghanistan Debacle

Breitbart points toward indications that the vaccine mandate might be Biden’s attempt to distract from the multiple Afghanistan bungles. However, with the poor thinking that went into both the mandate and Afghanistan, who’s to say he isn’t magnifying both bungles?

Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow said President Joe Biden announced his vaccine mandate in order to distract from his disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, adding that U.S. leaders can “literally get away with murder at this point.”

“I think this is exactly why Biden unrolled the vaccine mandate, is specifically because he didn’t want to talk about Afghanistan. He didn’t even give a live address on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 — he’s hiding,” Marlow said in a recent episode of I’m Right with Jesse Kelly.

Has Biden thought out what happens when nursing home workers resign rather than get the jab?

Nursing home workers don’t make a lot of money; however, they hold a key position. If they quit en masse as a response to Joe’s mandate, who will replace them? Will this result in massive deaths in government-run nursing homes due to worker shortages?

What will happen if garbage truck drivers refuse the jab? Does anyone remember the last garbage hauler’s strike in New York? Does anyone want that nationwide?

What happens when more rural clinics have nurses and doctors quit rather than get this relatively untested “vaccination?” How will we provide healthcare when rural systems are already being shut down to compensate for refusals in the big cities?

Is there a possibility that Joe’s cover-up issue might grow to be worse than Afghanistan? What other industries could say “No, I will just quit” rather than take Joe’s jab?

A running list of Joe’s/Kamala’s failures

The following comes directly off of the top of my head; therefore, I welcome corrections (with linked documentation) in the comments. If you make comments, I will add your input to the list (with citations to you). Additionally, I will keep your comments.

Unintended consequences from Biden’s vaccine mandate

Biden’s vaccine mandate may force problems in the healthcare industry

The Western Journal informs us that unintended consequences have cropped up in response to mandates like Biden’s vaccine mandate.

Unanticipated consequences?

President Joe Biden’s newly announced vaccine mandate might backfire on him — big time.

In August, then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that all health care workers in the state would be required to have at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination by Sept. 27 or be fired.

The consequences of this statewide mandate are already being felt at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville, New York. The hospital just announced “a pause” in delivering babies after staff members in the maternity unit handed in their resignations over the controversial mandate, according to WWNY-TV.

On Friday, Lewis County Health System Chief Executive Officer Gerald Cayer told reporters that 73 percent of the hospital’s 629 employees have been vaccinated and that the mandate had prompted 30 more to get the shot. However, it also led 30 employees to resign.

“If we can pause the service and now focus on recruiting nurses who are vaccinated, we will be able to reengage in delivering babies here in Lewis County,” Cayer said, according to WWNY.

“Our hope is as we get closer [to the deadline], the numbers will increase of individuals who are vaccinated, fewer individuals will leave and maybe, with a little luck, some of those who have resigned will reconsider,” he said. “We are not alone. There are thousands of positions that are open north of the Thruway and now we have a challenge to work through, you know, with the vaccination mandate.”

New York has the nation’s eighth-highest vaccination rate. As of Sept. 12, nearly 62 percent of the population was fully vaccinated, according to Becker’s Hospital Review.

If the mandate is causing problems in a highly vaccinated state, how much worse will the situation be in states such as Alabama, Wyoming, Idaho and West Virginia that have vaccination rates of 40 percent or less?

What could go wrong? Can’t people just pause that pregnancy, heart attack, or Democrat-supported shooting?

Are you willing to gamble your life or the life of your loved ones (your sons, daughters, wife, husband, or other loved people)? Is Dementia Joe’s political future more important to you than any of those lives?

As we know, coronary deaths have seen surges during the continual COVID fear porn (as have suicides, drug overdoses, and other factors related to being shut away from certain aspects of life and health care). Therefore, this couldn’t take a bad turn, could it?

Does Biden’s mandate throw medical privacy out the window?

Tampa Bay CBS affiliate WTSP assures us that Biden’s vaccine questions will not violate medical privacy as long as the employer only asks whether the employee is vaccinated against COVID.

With vaccines for COVID-19 now widely available, we are seeing more instances of businesses requiring both their employees and customers to be vaccinated, and sometimes even asking for proof of vaccination.

We have also seen videos like the one below. Social media users post videos of customers they dub as “Karens.” Often, they are upset with mask or vaccine rules, claiming they are a violation of HIPAA.

So, what is HIPAA?

Some people think it stands for the Health Insurance Privacy and Protection Act. However, that would be HIPPA, and the proper acronym is HIPAA.

That one “P” stands for portability, obviously.

Its actual name is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. It’s a national standard that protects sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient’s consent or knowledge. According to the CDC, the main goal is to ensure your health information is properly protected while it is handled by certain people or organizations.

Those who must comply with HIPAA include healthcare providers, like doctors or hospitals. Then there are health plans, along with healthcare clearinghouses, which would be like a middleman for healthcare providers and insurance payers.

Lastly, businesses that use medical information, like a data analysis company, have to follow HIPAA as well.

You may be thinking, what about all the other organizations that have to handle medical information like law enforcement agencies or your child’s school? Those organizations are not covered by HIPAA.

In general, HIPAA does not apply to most businesses. When a business asks its employee to show proof of a vaccination, it would not be considered a HIPAA violation. However, businesses do have to keep that information private, but not because of HIPAA. It is because of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Now, according to this, employers can ask about your HIV vaccination status

Based on the above article, it would seem employers might feel free to ask about whether employees have accepted vaccinations against HIV or any other specific disease. Based on the article above, it would seem that there are no laws restraining businesses from discriminating against employees. Based on the article above, one would think that there would be no right to privacy of personal information (central to the Fifth Amendment’s right to not self-incriminate).

However, with the direction that Biden is going, it seems that he does not want us to have the right of private beliefs (if those beliefs call us to not submit to his COVID vaccination). Of course, the First Amendment guarantees our right to privacy of our beliefs (also known as our freedom of religion).

However, it seems that the only privacy right that Biden supports is the right to kill one’s offspring in the privacy of one’s womb. And now that the Democrats have declared men to have wombs, we may be in for a season of insanity.

Nonetheless, in one of any of the “right to work” states (where an employer can fire for any non-discriminatory reason), this could turn to an interesting direction that the Biden regime might not like.

Four varying ways Biden has put America last

First, is Biden’s HHS ready to cast off HIPAA rules?

Biden does not champion your health, but control of you

OneNewsNow comments on Biden’s disregard for our health privacy.

AmericaLastThe Biden administration’s goal for vaccinations has been a moving target, but the latest is for 105 million adults to be fully vaccinated and 56% of adults to have had at least one shot. The administration recognizes that even making that goal is going to be a stretch, so the president says they have a plan to get there. (See earlier story)

“Now we need to go community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood, and oftentimes door to door – literally knocking on doors,” President Joe Biden said during a Thursday press conference as he described how the government plans to “get help” to Americans who remain “unvaccinated and unprotected.”

Americans, though, have privacy concerns, and are asking if their vaccine status is the government’s business. HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra says it is.

“The federal government has had to spend trillions of dollars to try to keep Americans alive during this pandemic. So, it is absolutely the government’s business; it is taxpayers’ business,” Becerra argued.

Dr. Alex McFarland, who co-hosts a daily program on American Family Radio, describes the administration’s tactic as nothing less than a brazen power grab.

“They’re using COVID as a contrivance to temporarily – with an eye to ultimately – suspend our constitutional rights,” says the Christian educator. “This is a moment of political opportunity for those who want to further erode our constitutionally protected rights, and we can’t let this happen.”

And he wonders: why the double standard? “What we’re basically hearing are arguments from the Left that we should suspend the very same constitutional right that the pro-abortion and pro-assisted suicide lobby has defended,” McFarland notes.

As he points out, those on the Left have argued for decades that no one has the right to impose or override a woman’s right to personal medical choices.

Of course, Obamacare was not about improving healthcare

Obamacare was promised to provide a benefit of $2,500 per family of four. It was purportedly supposed to allow us to keep our insurance plans, if we liked those plans (it did not). It was purportedly supposed to allow us to keep our doctors, if we liked our doctors (it did not).

What it really seems to have been planned to do was to drive us into a government-provided, single-payer plan (aka, socialist healthcare).

Second, as Biden champions felony bond reform, there are many law abiding victims

Locally, one suspect in deadly home invasion was out on 7 felony bonds

Houston ABC affiliate KTRK has temporarily turned against its Democrat overlords and reported that a felon out on 7 felony bonds killed again.

A man out on bond for seven felony charges was one of two people arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at his apartment.

Qiriathiam Phillips, 25, and Consetta Rao, 24, were both charged with murder in 29-year-old Tevin Watson’s death.

Rao is also charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon.

Biden, with his support for taking funds from police, has failed us here

To be sure, this is the fault of a conglomeration of Biden, Democrat social justice judges, a Democrat social justice District Attorney, and Lina Hidalgo (the leader of a set of Harris County judges all too willing to cut funds from local constables.)

Third, Biden leads in support of a national trend

Crime rates are spiking in Democrat-run cities

Fox News reports on Mitch McConnell’s comments on the rising crime rates across America.

The Left’s “defund the police” movement is “utter nonsense” in light of rising crime rates in cities across the country, Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell said this week.

“Last year, all of this talk about defunding the police was utter nonsense,” McConnell told the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce on Thursday while back in his home state, according to WDRB-TV of Louisville.

“I think communities decide how many police they want to have. And my guess is, in every single community where you have an outburst of violence like this, local governments are going to decide how to respond to that. They don’t need any advice from me. But I think more police, rather than less police, is a really important decision.”

Several large cities like Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore and New York City cut their police department budgets last year as Black Lives Matter protesters demanded fewer officers on the streets.

Department cuts have coincided in many cases with an uptick in crime.

In Portland, Oregon, the city cut $16 million from the police budget last June, including an anti-gun violence unit, but after a spike in shootings since last summer, the city plans to reinstate it.

Therefore, any reader can look at this and compare it to what is known about the local Democrat city

We don’t have to rely on disinformation from the local main stream media. We can know by what we can see with our lying eyes.

Fourth, Biden does not work for your budget

In the face of rising gas prices, Biden threatens to make it more expensive for energy companies to do business

The Daily Caller expounds on threats by Biden to make operation more expensive for energy companies.

TrojanJoePresident Joe Biden is emphasizing a tax code change targeting energy companies that would fund part of his American Families Plan and make gas prices rise.

“If we end tax breaks for fossil fuels and make polluters pay to clean up the messes they have made, that would raise $90 billion. I’m not asking them to do anything that is unfair. Just not going to subsidize them anymore,” Biden told a crowd in Crystal Lake, Illinois on Wednesday. Press Secretary Jen Psaki had touted the speech as promoting provisions of the American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan that congressional Democrats will attempt to pass via the reconciliation process.

Biden appeared to be referencing a series of provisions in his $6 billion budget proposal for 2022. One provision, the intangible drilling cost deduction, would require oil and gas companies to pay more taxes on wells. Another, the Superfund excise tax, adds a tax to every barrel of crude oil that companies produce, in order to fund cleanups of Superfund sites.

Energy companies slammed the proposals when Biden introduced them.

“Increased taxes on American energy will only undermine economic recovery and job creation, push natural gas and oil investments overseas and lead to less government revenue, not more,” American Petroleum Institute President and CEO Mike Sommers told The Hill in May.

The national average of gas prices reached $3.13 per gallon over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, the highest since 2014. The Biden administration has attempted to downplay the costs, with Press Secretary Jen Psaki claiming in May that Americans “are paying less in real terms for gas than they have on average over the last 15 years—and they’re paying about the same as they did in May 2018 and May 2019.”

On 19 July, Biden proclaimed economic victory just as the market tanked

Just as Dementia Joe proclaimed “We brought this economy back from the brink,” the effects of his artificially-low FED interest rates, his 800+ new regulations on businesses, his misinformed policies with supposed allies, and his misguided ban on oil (which causes a tripling of costs of plastics materials and a doubling of hydrocarbon fuels).

Here and abroad, people call bad things good and good things bad

California Legislature passes bill reducing penalties for oral and anal sex with willing children

Breitbart informs us through a 3 September 2020 article of the law awaiting Governor Newsom’s signature that will raise the age of consent in California, allowing predators to victimize children.

California lawmakers passed a bill Monday that would reduce penalties for adults who have oral or anal sex with a willing minor child if the sex offender is within ten years of the age of the victim.

The bill now heads to the desk of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

According to SB 145, the legislation “would exempt from mandatory registration” as a sex offender “a person convicted of certain offenses involving minors if the person is not more than 10 years older than the minor and if that offense is the only one requiring the person to register.”

The measure would allow a judge to decide if an adult who engages in oral or anal sex with a child must register as a sex offender if that person is within ten years of the age of the victim.

In January 2019, the San Francisco Examiner reported on the introduction of the bill by State Sen. Scott Wiener (D), who claimed the current law, which states oral and anal sex between an adult within ten years of the age of a willing minor requires the adult to be registered as a sex offender, discriminates against LGBT individuals.

The bill would put an end to “blatant discrimination against young LGBT people engaged in consensual activity,” Wiener said:

This bill is about treating everyone equally under the law. Discrimination against LGBT people is simply not the California way. These laws were put in place during a more conservative and anti-LGBT time in California’s history. They have ruined people’s lives and made it harder for them to get jobs, secure housing, and live productive lives. It is time we update these laws and treat everyone equally.

Currently in California, judges may decide whether adults who have “penile-vaginal intercourse” with minors close to their age must register as a sex offender.

Californian politicians call this equality. I call it the potential for abuse and the abuser’s potential for unimaginable punishment

Those who promote this law call it equality for LGBTQ kids. However, I see it as a chance for easily-malleable children to be exploited.

According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), children can be pushed into keeping silent through a number of methods.

Abusers can manipulate victims to stay quiet about the sexual abuse using a number of different tactics. Often an abuser will use their position of power over the victim to coerce or intimidate the child. They might tell the child that the activity is normal or that they enjoyed it. An abuser may make threats if the child refuses to participate or plans to tell another adult. Child sexual abuse is not only a physical violation; it is a violation of trust and/or authority.

Therefore, we know the physical potential for abusing children.

Now let’s look at the spiritual component of child sexual abuse.

Jesus says this about the innocence of children and those who would take advantage of them:

Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. (Matthew 18:4‭-‬6 NASB)

Additionally, the Apostle James admonished the early Church:

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (James 1:27 NASB)

In the Old Testament, commands to God’s people came in two forms — commands of what not to do:

You shall not afflict any widow or orphan. (Exodus 22:22 NASB)

The second of the commands in the Old Testament was the commands of what to do:

Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow. (Isaiah 1:17 NASB)

Based on the potential for a lustful adult to use this new law to abuse children and based also on what the above verses say, I would not want to be the lawmaker who stands before God to give an account. I would also not want to be the adult who misused a child because of the permissions this law provides.

With that said, I must admit that many in the church have fallen on these stumbling stones. There are many who, before this law was passed, were guilty of damaging children.

Mom fights for law to protect children after pre-teen daughter’s likeness appears on sex toy

Breitbart reports that a Florida mother finds herself lobbying lawmakers because of a life-like doll made as a sex toy.

A mother in Florida is fighting back after she discovered that a likeness of her daughter had been used as a model for a sex toy advertised for sale online.

A woman only identified as “Terri” said she saw the sex toy, described as “a high quality sexy dolly live dolls for men” for sale for $559 on Amazon and other websites.

A local NBC affiliate reported on Terri’s partnering with a Boca Raton organization, Child Rescue Coalition, a “nonprofit organization that rescues children from sexual abuse by building technology for law enforcement, free of charge, to track, arrest and prosecute child predators.”

NBC 6 reported:

NBC 6 talked exclusively with the girl’s mother to talk about her quest with a Boca Raton organization to fight for a federal mandate banning child sex dolls. Currently, child sex dolls are only banned in Florida and two other states, but advocates and victims say much more needs to be done to expose this secret.

The same doll appears naked on another website, which NBC 6 has verified but we are not identifying.

Terri says she freaked. She reached out to Amazon – and four days later the ad was removed. In a statement, an Amazon spokesperson said, “All sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who do not will be subject to action including potential removal of their account. This product has been removed.”

“When I saw the one that looks just like my daughter, I clicked on it, and when I saw the face, the poses — I was just, I couldn’t stop,” Terri said. “I started crying. I was just completely in shock and angry.”

“This is a real child who’s been affected, this isn’t a hypothetical doll that was created,” said Carly Yoost, the CEO of C.R.C., in the report. “This is something made out of someone’s own likeness and took images from this mother.”

“The C.R.C. wants Congress to pass a federal law banning the sale and purchasing of child sex dolls,” NBC 6 reported.

Again, we must protect children

For Christians, we must remember the commands of God to protect children (which include):

You shall not afflict any widow or orphan. (Exodus 22:22 NASB)

You have seen it, for You have beheld mischief and vexation to take it into Your hand. The unfortunate commits himself to You; You have been the helper of the orphan. (Psalm 10:14 NASB)

A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation. (Psalm 68:5 NASB)

Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. (Psalm 82:3 NASB)

The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked. (Psalm 146:9 NASB)

Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow. (Isaiah 1:17 NASB)

In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (Acts 20:35 NASB)

Grace Community Church continues to stand against Los Angeles County

OneNewsNow points out through a 4 September 2020 article how Grace Community Church has contended with the Los Angeles County authorities who have taken legal steps to deny the church use of parking lots.

john-macarthurPastor John MacArthur is going to court today to argue for his church’s right to continue having church services.

Pastor John MacArthur was holding online-only services for Los Angeles County-based Grace Community Church until July, when people began showing up on campus unannounced and voluntarily. During appearances on various television and radio programs, Pastor MacArthur has stated that congregants “didn’t buy the narrative” about COVID-19.

Local and state officials do not want churches having indoor services, citing concerns about the spread of the virus.

“Our members know the statistical reality that you have a 99.99 percent chance of not being affected by this, and certainly not in a deadly way,” Pastor MacArthur told Todd Starnes in August.

Meanwhile, Pastor MacArthur has consistently pointed out that Jesus, not Governor Gavin Newsom (D) or any other elected official, is the head of the Church.

“The county did not try to enforce the very same measures against entities and gatherings that do not even have the heightened protections that churches do — for example, the George Floyd protests, all of the riots, and Planned Parenthood clinics,” said attorney Jenna Ellis of Thomas More Society, the law firm representing Pastor MacArthur, in an interview with OneNewsNow.

Los Angeles seems to see this as a challenge to their COVID-19 authority. I know this to be a violation of the First Amendment

When you think of the rights that are enumerated in the first 10 Amendments to our Constitution, there are reasons why our Founding Fathers arranged those inalienable rights in the order that they did. The First Amendment was given the Freedom of Religion in order that people could follow (or refuse) God in their own way, the Freedom of Speech so that we might share on all subjects without fear of retribution, the Freedom of the Press in order that all other portions of life might be well-informed, the Freedom of Peaceable Assembly for instances when the community needs to be informed of our support of a topic, and the Freedom to Petition the Government when grievances must be pushed further.

So, our Founding Fathers understood that the right to Freedom of Religion was just as important as the right to the Freedom of the Press and other key rights. If California is going to allow Black Lives Matter and Antifa to march without fining them, they need to allow Grace Community Church and John MacArthur to meet without fines. And now that it seems like the dictatorial elements in California have decided to deny only one part of this, there needs to be a challenge.

Just as the Apostle Paul petitioned Caesar for redress of grievances (Acts 25:1-12), I believe that Pastor John MacArthur and the Grace Community Church should present their case to the courts to get the treatment deserved. And they should get their fair hearing before the court.

Within the laws and traditions of America, their should be equality for the law abiding. Unlike the Islamic states, there is no slave class of unbelievers — there are no kafir, there is no jizya (tax paid by non-Muslims), and there is no nervous waiting for the sword of jihad. Unlike any Hindu state, there are no castes and no untouchables.

In America, in place of these ideologies that favor one group over another, we have the concept of “equality before the law.” In other words, we believe that all law must be applied equally to all people and that, when someone is accused of violating the law, all of us should get due process within our courts. Hence, there should be no discrimination against a Christian church for just performing the rites expected at a church.

Smithsonian Institution still honors Eugenicist Margaret Sanger despite her words on eliminating the Black race

OneNewsNow reports that eugenicist Margaret Sanger still holds a place of honor in the Smithsonian Institution despite her statements about eliminating undesirable races.

margaret_sanger_bustThe Smithsonian is encountering another wave of pressure to remove Planned Parenthood’s founder from its tax-supported gallery.

A bust honoring Margaret Sanger, the founder of what is now Planned Parenthood, is housed in the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in DC, despite of the fact that Sanger was an avowed racist and eugenicist.

“We launched a national campaign in June calling upon the National Portrait Gallery, particularly in light of the national conversation on race and racial justice that we are seeing take place in America, to remove the Sanger display,” relays Pat Mahoney, chief strategist for the Stanton Public Policy Center.

The bust, however, remains in place, so Congressman Russ Fulcher (R-ID) has written a second hard-hitting letter making the same request to the tax-supported museum.

Planned Parenthood recently took action because of its racist image, including its past and present internal accusations of racism.

“Think about this for a moment: The organization that Margaret Sanger founded, Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the world, has demanded that Sanger’s name be removed from their flagship center, which they did, in New York,” Mahoney notes.

So he finds it difficult to understand why the Smithsonian continues to honor a woman who considered Blacks and the poor to be “weeds” that needed to be removed from society.

Why does “Cancel Culture” only focus on flawed past figures like Washington who built great things? Why notfocus on a woman who destroyed multiple millions?

If the cancel culture were really focusing on injustices, they would see the millions of minority babies eliminated by Margaret Sanger.

If cancel culture were really focused on injustices, the removal of a name from one abortuary would not be enough.

At the least, they would demand the removal of this taxpayer funded display of honor for this murderous woman at the Smithsonian. At best, they would demand the removal of abortuaries from all minority communities.

Thirty-three Nigerians slaughtered in mass killing during 24-hour curfew

The Christian Post wrote in a 9 August 2020 article that 33 Nigerians died in a mass killing during a 24-hour-curfew.

NigerianChristianHouseArmed Fulani herders launched a series of attacks during a 24-hour curfew in a predominantly Christian area in Nigeria’s Kaduna state, killing about 33 people and burning down dozens of homes, according to reports.

While police said Fulani gunmen killed 21 villagers, local community leaders put the death toll at 33 in the attacks on five villages, according to AFP.

The attacks took place in the Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the U.K.-based Christian Solidarity Worldwide, which said armed men traveling in trucks killed six people and burned 20 homes in Apiashyim village, and killed seven people in Kibori village.

Locals reported the attack while it was still going on in Apiashyim, but personnel arrived only after the attack was over, a survivor told local media.

The Fulani men then attacked the Atakmawei community, killing 12 people and burning down 10 homes. Later, they killed three people in Apyiako village and five in Magamiya village, burning down several houses in both locations, CSW said.

A truck resembling an armored military vehicle and military motorcycles drove into the Apyiako village square while the attack was underway, but no attempt was made to stop the destruction, according to survivors, CSW reported.

Fulani herders routinely attack predominantly Christian farming communities in Nigeria’s Middle Belt. While some believe the nomadic herders launch attacks as they look for grazing pastures, the radicals are known for targeting Christian villages in a similar manner as the Boko Haram terror group that terrorizes the northern regions of the country.

(Read more at the Christian Post)

One thing not brought out in this article is that the Fulani herders have historically been Muslim

Unlike Christians, Muslims believe in conversion through force and in murdering those who will not convert to their death cult. While it seems that the liberals in the world seem to be fixed on ignoring the violent nature of Muslims, maybe this should be kept in mind (just as we also should pray and send physical support for the livelihood of the Christians).

Pro-life artist paints ‘Baby Lives Matter’ in front of Planned Parenthood

Breitbart reports on the pro-life art of Tyler Hansen in a 19 July 2020 article.

A pro-life artist painted the words, “Baby Lives Matter,” in front of a Planned Parenthood facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In a video message Friday, Tayler Hansen said, given the millions of babies who are aborted each year, he “felt inclined to demonstrate a true peaceful protest dedicated to those abandoned without a voice.”

According to KUTV News, Hansen said he painted the “Baby Lives Matter” mural at 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning, using paint that would endure on the pavement for ten days, at the most, and easily wash away.

“With recent events unfolding, everybody knows about the Black Lives Matter murals unfolding around the nation,” he said, according to the news report. “I thought I would bring awareness to one of the biggest human rights crises that nobody wants to talk about.”

Hansen reported on Saturday that his mural had already been removed as of that morning.

“THIS IS NOT OVER!” he tweeted, however.

In June, a black street preacher confronted Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters inside what was formerly called the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in Seattle, shouting that it is not the police, but Planned Parenthood, that is the number one killer of the black community.

“Why don’t I see my brothers and my sisters outside Planned Parenthood?” Chavannes asked of the BLM protesters. “The number one killer of the black population is Planned Parenthood!”

“Where you all at?” she shouted. “We need you there!”

The BLM protesters attempted to drown her out with megaphones as they shouted, “Police brutality!”

One of the protesters called Chavannes a “coon,” which was once a racial slur but is now used by some blacks to label other blacks they perceive as defending white racism.

If “Black Lives Matter” can be painted in front of Trump Tower by Bill de Blasio without a permit, why can’t this be painted in front of multiple Planned Parenthood locations?

Thankfully, this trend seems to be catching on. Not only has it appeared in Utah.

It also has shown up in Charlotte.

Four problems with focusing only on the coronavirus

  1. Potential ‘massive wave’ of cancer from avoiding routine medical care

Breitbart shows how cancer cases may come as a wave due to our focus on coronavirus.

A physician in Sacramento, California, said this week the cancellation of regular medical care during the coronavirus pandemic could yield a “massive wave” of cancer patients in the future.

Gov. Gavin Newsom
Gov. Newsom

In an interview with California Public Radio (CapRadio) Tuesday, Dignity Health thoracic surgeon Dr. Costanzo DiPerna said even though Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced in late April that hospitals and healthcare providers could resume some nonemergency medical care, many patients are still not scheduling appointments.

“Many patients are concerned about coming to visit us, to be screened for cancer, to be surveilled for their previous cancers we’ve taken out,” DiPerna explained.

From CapRadio:

What I’m concerned about right now, not just for lung cancer but for all cancers, is are there patients out there that don’t want to come in because they’re afraid of getting COVID-19? And, so, they avoid mammograms, they avoid cat scans, they avoid colonoscopies … Then in two years we’re hit with this massive wave of patients that are all at a later stage of essentially incurable cancers.

In California and many other states, medical visits governors decided are of a “nonemergency” variety have included routine mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and colonoscopies – which often detect cancers at their earliest stages, when they are most treatable.

Similarly, heart valve replacements, angioplasty, and tumor removals have all been delayed because of the orders of many governors as they focused solely on the infections caused by the Chinese coronavirus and associated massive testing and contact tracing expansions.

Hundreds of physicians, led by the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), signed a letter to Vice President Mike Pence and the White House Coronavirus Task Force Friday urging the reopening of the nation’s business and schools and warning that delay will show a negative impact on the health of millions of Americans.

This is completely on Democrats

Heath-wise, this is 99% on Democrats. It was primarily Democrats who shut down hospitals from being able to see anything but coronavirus cases. Regarding the lengthing of this pandemic by making the tools needed scarce, it was the Affordable Care Act (voted through by only Democrats) that put a tax on hospital equipment (like ventilators).

It has been only Democrat governors who have placed COVID-19 patients in nursing homes, thus expanding the number of people who have really died of the virus.

  1. Fauci flips on lockdown: Staying home too long could cause ‘irreparable damage’

The Daily Caller tells of the economic damage even a doctor focused on public health could see.

fauciDr. Anthony Fauci said Friday that there could be “irreparable damage” if lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic went on too long.

Fauci explained during a segment of CNBC’s “Fast Money Halftime Report” that there could be numerous unintended consequences to keeping the country shut down longer than necessary.

Fauci began by saying that his position had always been that states and regions should open as they passed certain benchmarks and could do so safely while still protecting the more vulnerable populations.

“We can’t stay locked down for such a considerable period of time that you might do irreparable damage and have unintended consequences, including consequences for health,” Fauci explained, adding, “We are enthusiastic about reopening. I think we can do it in pace that would be reasonable and would get us back as a society from a morale standpoint as well as the economy.”

“I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for prolonged period of time is the way to go,” Fauci continued. “We had to do that when we had the explosion of cases, but now is the time depending upon where you are and what your situation is, to look at reopening the economy, reopening the country to try to get back to some degree of normal. I’m totally in favor of that if it’s done in the proper way in the appropriate setting.”

  1. Thousands in Spain protest as their lockdown kills their economy

The One America News Network reports on the economic damage protested in Spain as their leaders continue the lockdown.

SpaniardsProtestThousands gathered in Spain Saturday as part of a nationwide demonstration, where they spoke out against the country’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Cars and motorcycles could be seen driving in procession through Madrid, honking horns and waving Spanish flags. Protesters demanded officials ease lockdown restrictions, which have been some of the toughest in Europe.

Members from the far-right Vox political party have called for current left-leaning Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to resign over the damaged economy.

“The situation we have at the moment (in) Spain is intolerable. We have an intolerable president, we live in a sociocommunist country. I have had enough. We have to shout it out loud, ‘Out Sanchez and long live Spain!” – Unnamed protester

The coronavirus issue in Spain and Italy seems to center on an influx of workers, tourists, and investors from China

As has been reported within the blogosphere (e.g., A Sign of Hope, Truth2Freedom, and The Last Refuge), coronavirus made its way into Spain and Italy through a number of routes. First, Italy and Spain had agreements with China regarding trade that commemorated the Silk Road. Therefore, Chinese workers, investors, and tourists came to Italy and Spain en masse from Wuhan (even though China stopped travel from Wuhan to other parts of China).

Therefore, when you also mix in the tendency of progressive cultures to feel through problems rather than think through them, a perfect storm of liberality occurred.

  1. U.S. census launches weekly coronavirus report: 47% jobless, 38% delayed medical treatment

Breitbart reports on the weekly census coronavirus report for the week of 22 May 2020.

The U.S. Census Bureau announced this week that each Wednesday it will post online a survey of American households to measure how people are doing during the coronavirus outbreak on a number of issues, including employment, “food security,” and access to health care.

“The survey is intended to provide crucial weekly data to help understand the experiences of American households during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the announcement of the survey said.

The announcement said:

In this initial release, the Household Pulse Survey Interactive Tool provides data for select indicators at national and state levels. National data also are available in table format. We plan subsequent weekly releases through late July, and will include additional estimates for states and the 15 largest metropolitan statistical areas.

For the April 23-May 5 period, invitations to take part in the survey were sent to 1,867,126 households and a total 74,413 responded (63,003 complete interviews and 11,410 partial interviews).

This is already too high. We need to stop this now.

If suicide levels are at the levels reported by the CDC for that week in May, then things have already gone too far. I don’t care what San Fran Nan says now, just get people back to work.

Suicide, depression, and drug use killing Americans because of coronavirus

Breitbart quotes Peter Navarro regarding the other risks of the shutdown.

NavarroWhite House trade advisor Peter Navarro on Monday sounded off on the stay-at-home orders many states are still under as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

While many are pushing to begin slowly reopening the economy and getting Americans back to work, there are still some pushing back against doing so too early.

Navarro told Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom” that the lockdown has been dangerous because it is “indirectly” killing Americans through suicide, depression, alcoholism and drug addiction as many people are losing their jobs.

“The original death estimate was about 2 million Americans dying in the absence of any kind of mitigation or containment, and the president took the very tough choice of entering into a mitigation phase and a containment phase,” Navarro outlined. “It was a manufactured recession that we face. And the estimates would basically take that down to 100,000 to 200,000 deaths. And that is a number that’s still out there. We know what the numbers are today. We’re — we’re just moving through time. We’re trying to simultaneously protect the American people from the effects of the China virus, killing them directly, but it’s also true that the lockdown indirectly kills Americans through the economic effects with a higher suicide rates, depression, alcoholism, drug addiction and all that.”

Five stories and supporting articles on death and coronavirus

  1. NIH Chief: Coronavirus Lockdowns in U.S. May Trigger Suicides

Breitbart reports that the NIH Chief suggests that continued lockdowns may trigger a flood of suicides.

DrCollinsThere is a clear and present danger that lockdown measures aimed at stemming the spread of the novel coronavirus may fuel mental health issues like suicides, Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), warned this week.

During an interview published by the medical news outlet STAT on Tuesday, Dr. Collins acknowledged that quarantine measures like social distancings, currently impacting more than 95 percent of U.S. residents, may increase mental health illnesses, particularly suicides, in some areas, telling STAT:

It is interesting that if you look back over history, when we have had other times of major national stress, it looks as if, for the most part, actually, illnesses, and even mortality, seems to actually not be as bad during those situations.

But that’s not true of specific areas, and particularly with suicide, one worries about the people who already are struggling with depression, and then are put in a circumstance of being isolated from others. That’s exactly the wrong thing.

So that’s one more reason why we need to figure out [the health consequences of the lockdowns] in a safe way, and an evidence-based way how we can get ourselves back out there again, because people are suffering with this.

Dr. Collins’ comments came in response to STAT asking about his views on Trump’s prediction that there is a real health cost to keeping people cooped up in their homes for long periods.

“I think we do have to take that seriously,” the director of the NIH, a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), said about Trump’s warnings.

The director also noted that the NIH is working to determine the expected health consequences from the ongoing coronavirus lockdowns, saying:

We set up a series of 10 significant trans-NIH research initiatives, bringing together all of the best and brightest leaders that we have around us — virtually, of course — to try to address things that we would all want to know about the consequences of this as well as ways that we can help end it.

Obviously, that includes things like vaccines and therapeutics, but one of those initiatives is very much about the mental health consequences of what this has done, socially, by asking people to stay at home for long periods of time, losing those face-to-face personal connections.

Citing U.S. government and independent assessments, Breitbart News has acknowledged early this month that the financial crisis triggered by the coronavirus lockdowns will likely increase deadly drug abuse and suicides, particularly among the unemployed.

The leftist mainstream media, however, had a meltdown over Trump’s warnings of surging suicides if nationwide social-distancing guidelines that have closed many non-essential businesses and have triggered a spike in unemployment stay in place.

Remember Obamacare (where the Congress got exemptions)

Democrats have proven time and time again that they do not care about your health in any way. They have sided with the Chinese over this coronavirus just because it worked as a political football against the President and the Republicans.

Additionally, despite all the “we are all in this together” advertisements, they don’t give a flying rip about your mental health.

One thing that I find odd within all of the politically-related articles in this string is the observation that Democrats either denied or stood against claims that further shutdowns would result in higher suicide rates. What do they think will happen when people lose their jobs, max out their credit cards, become more isolated than usual in this already isolated society, and then get a continual mantra of “isolate, isolate, isolate?”

  1. Study: Coronavirus Shutdowns Could Lead To 75,000 ‘Deaths Of Despair’

The Daily Caller provides an 8 May 2020 article telling of a study that points toward suicide caused by the despair of coronaviurs.

Government-mandated shutdowns over the coronavirus pandemic could lead to as many as 75,000 deaths, a new study shows.

The study published Friday by Well Being Trust (WBT) found that the pandemic could cause an additional 75,000 “deaths of despair,” including deaths from suicide and drug overdoses. The study identified the cause of these deaths as “unprecedented economic failure paired with massive unemployment, mandated social isolation for months and possible residual isolation for years, and uncertainty caused by the sudden emergence of a novel, previously unknown microbe.”

Benjamin Miller, WBT’s chief strategy officer warned that the country cannot continue to ignore the collateral damage being caused by the coronavirus.

“Undeniably policymakers must place a large focus on mitigating the effects of COVID. However, if the country continues to ignore the collateral damage—specifically our nation’s mental health—we will not come out of this stronger,” Miller wrote. “If we work to put in place healthy community conditions, good healthcare coverage, and inclusive policies, we can improve mental health and well-being. With all the other COVID-related investments, it’s time for the federal government to fully support a framework for excellence in mental health and well-being and invest in mental health now.”

The study found that 27,644 people will die from deaths of despair under the best case scenario, while over 150,000 could die under the worst case scenario. The study identified the country’s skyrocketing unemployment rate as a leading factor contributing to these deaths, writing that “Unemployment is an undeniable risk factor for suicide and drug misuse as well as decrease in overall health status.” The U.S. unemployment rate currently sits at nearly 15%, its highest rate since the Great Depression. Most of the U.S. economy has been closed since March, although some states have recently reopened in an attempt to stave off economic catastrophe.

Rather than figuring out how to keep the shutdown, get us back to work

The deaths that essentially result from isolation, loss of income, and lowering of activity can be minimized by just getting more people back to work. Not necessarily just handing out money, but getting people to do something that produces a product that they can point to and smile.

However, what does Nancy Pelosi do? She holds up programs that would benefit small businesses in ways that would allow those small businesses to retain their employees. What did she hold the program up for? One item on her list of give-a-ways was the a gift of $25 million to the Kennedy Center, a place where only the richest in the Washington D.C. area can afford to attend. Once the gift went through, the Center fired the musicians for the Center. That’s a Democrat’s compassion for the little guy.

  1. Suicide mortality and coronavirus

The Journal of the American Medical Association discusses suicide mortality and coronavirus and wonder whether the raising numbers will create a perfect storm.

Suicide rates have been rising in the US over the last 2 decades. The latest data available (2018) show the highest age-adjusted suicide rate in the US since 1941.1 It is within this context that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) struck the US. Concerning disease models have led to historic and unprecedented public health actions to curb the spread of the virus. Remarkable social distancing interventions have been implemented to fundamentally reduce human contact. While these steps are expected to reduce the rate of new infections, the potential for adverse outcomes on suicide risk is high. Actions could be taken to mitigate potential unintended consequences on suicide prevention efforts, which also represent a national public health priority.

COVID-19 Public Health Interventions and Suicide Risk

Secondary consequences of social distancing may increase the risk of suicide. It is important to consider changes in a variety of economic, psychosocial, and health-associated risk factors.

Economic Stress

There are fears that the combination of canceled public events, closed businesses, and shelter-in-place strategies will lead to a recession. Economic downturns are usually associated with higher suicide rates compared with periods of relative prosperity.2 Since the COVID-19 crisis, businesses have faced adversity and laying off employees. Schools have been closed for indeterminable periods, forcing some parents and guardians to take time off work. The stock market has experienced historic drops, resulting in significant changes in retirement funds. Existing research suggests that sustained economic stress could be associated with higher US suicide rates in the future.

Social Isolation

Leading theories of suicide emphasize the key role that social connections play in suicide prevention. Individuals experiencing suicidal ideation may lack connections to other people and often disconnect from others as suicide risk rises.3 Suicidal thoughts and behaviors are associated with social isolation and loneliness.3 Therefore, from a suicide prevention perspective, it is concerning that the most critical public health strategy for the COVID-19 crisis is social distancing. Furthermore, family and friends remain isolated from individuals who are hospitalized, even when their deaths are imminent. To the extent that these strategies increase social isolation and loneliness, they may increase suicide risk.

Decreased Access to Community and Religious Support

Many Americans attend various community or religious activities. Weekly attendance at religious services has been associated with a 5-fold lower suicide rate compared with those who do not attend.4 The effects of closing churches and community centers may further contribute to social isolation and hence suicide.

Barriers to Mental Health Treatment

Health care facilities are adding COVID-19 screening questions at entry points. At some facilities, children and other family members (without an appointment) are not permitted entry. Such actions may create barriers to mental health treatment (e.g, canceled appointments associated with child restrictions while school is canceled). Information in the media may also imply that mental health services are not prioritized at this time (e.g, portrayals of overwhelmed health care settings, canceled elective surgeries). Moreover, overcrowded emergency departments may negatively affect services for survivors of suicide attempts. Reduced access to mental health care could negatively affect patients with suicidal ideation.

Illness and Medical Problems

Exacerbated physical health problems could increase risk for some patients, especially among older adults, in whom health problems are associated with suicide. One patient illustrated the psychological toll of COVID-19 symptoms when he told his clinician, “’I feel like (you) sent me home to die.”5

Outcomes of National Anxiety

It is possible that the 24/7 news coverage of these unprecedented events could serve as an additional stressor, especially for individuals with preexisting mental health problems. The outcomes of national anxiety on an individual’s depression, anxiety, and substance use deserve additional study.

Many studies document elevated suicide rates among medical professionals.6 This at-risk group is now serving in the front lines of the battle against COVID-19. A national discussion is emerging about health care workers’ concerns about infection, exposure of family members, sick colleagues, shortages of necessary personal protective equipment, overwhelmed facilities, and work stress. This special population deserves support and prevention services.

Firearm Sales

Many news outlets have reported a surge in US gun sales as COVID-19 advances. Firearms are the most common method of suicide in the US, and firearm ownership or access and unsafe storage are associated with elevated suicide risk.7 In this context, issues of firearm safety for suicide prevention are increasingly relevant.

Seasonal Variation in Rates

In the northern hemisphere, suicide rates tend to peak in the late spring and early summer. The fact that this will probably coincide with peak COVID-19 prevention efforts is concerning and deserves additional study.

Suicide Prevention Opportunities

Despite challenges, there are opportunities to improve suicide prevention efforts in this unique time. Maintenance of some existing efforts is also possible.

Physical Distance, Not Social Distance

Despite its name, social distancing requires physical space between people, not social distance. Efforts can be made to stay connected and maintain meaningful relationships by telephone or video, especially among individuals with substantial risk factors for suicide. Social media solutions can be explored to facilitate these goals.

Just as the deaths and infections from staying at home were a surprise to Cuomo last week, this will probably come as a surpirse

With a hat tip to the Chris Salcedo Show, CNBC reported recently that Governor Cuomo expressed surprise when he found that most coronavirus cases came from those who sheltered in place.

Most new Covid-19 hospitalizations in New York state are from people who were staying home and not venturing much outside, a “shocking” finding, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday.

The preliminary data was from 100 New York hospitals involving about 1,000 patients, Cuomo said at his daily briefing.

It shows that 66% of new admissions were from people who had largely been sheltering at home. The next highest source of admissions was from nursing homes, 18%.

“If you notice, 18% of the people came from nursing homes, less than 1% came from jail or prison, 2% came from the homeless population, 2% from other congregate facilities, but 66% of the people were at home, which is shocking to us,” Cuomo said.

“This is a surprise: Overwhelmingly, the people were at home,” he added. “We thought maybe they were taking public transportation, and we’ve taken special precautions on public transportation, but actually no, because these people were literally at home.”

Surprise, Mr. Governor? If you would like another surprise, I have a 10-man survey team that would help you find something.

  1. How does the coronavirus pandemic affect suicide rates?

The Hill explores the liberal side of how coronavirus might affect suicide rates.

A new report released this month in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) expresses concern about the potential for increased suicide rates due to economic stress, social isolation, medical problems and other factors related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Concerning disease models have led to historic and unprecedented public health actions to curb the spread of the virus. Remarkable social distancing interventions have been implemented to fundamentally reduce human contact. While these steps are expected to reduce the rate of new infections, the potential for adverse outcomes on suicide risk is high,” states the JAMA report, which also stresses the emphasized need for enhanced suicide prevention efforts.

Although data on numbers of calls specifically related to COVID-19 distress are not yet available for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, a national network of locally operated crisis centers, Lifeline counselors confirm receiving numerous calls from people expressing concern over their health, economic and financial stability, and substance use.

Senior Director of Communications Frances Gonzalez tells Changing America, “In addition, counselors are connecting with healthcare providers and workers expressing their own distress and anxiety related to their work and health, as well as people facing grief related to COVID-19.”

Gonzalez adds that, “Disaster Distress Helpline, a sub-network of the Lifeline that is focused on providing emotional support to people affected by natural and human-caused disasters, has experienced significant volume increases.”

Citing numbers, she says, “During March 2020, the Disaster Distress Helpline saw a 338 percent increase in call volume compared with February 2020.”

Now that The Hill has reported on it, they can now ignore the subject and accuse others of ignorance

The pattern of the main stream media seems to be report on a subject online or on the last pages of a small section — then they claim that people who hold to the theories that depend on that idea are to be discounted. For example, suicide has now been breached; however, the only people suggesting that suicide might be elevated by a continued lockdown are people in the President’s camp.

How can this become a political football? How can people ignore the tensions created by unemployment?

For that matter, how can a Speaker of the House be so tone deaf as to show off a basket of high-priced chocolates and then display a expensive set of freezers full of designer ice creams while the “Regular Joe” family struggled to put food on the table?

  1. Suicide rise from lockdowns to kill more than coronavirus in Australia

Breitbart reports a predicted rise in suicide in Australia.

The rise in the suicide rate caused by lockdowns in Australia is predicted to exceed deaths from the Wuhan coronavirus by a factor of ten, the Australian reported Thursday.

Researchers from Sydney University’s Brain and Mind Centre forecast a 50 percent rise in the national suicide rate because of the economic and social impact of government responses to the virus, which would drive deaths to as much as ten times higher than those causes by the coronavirus itself.

Already this year global deaths by suicide are significantly higher than those attributed to the coronavirus. According to the respected Worldometers running tallies, there have already been 374,225 suicides since the start of 2020, whereas the Wuhan coronavirus has claimed 251,898 lives, Johns Hopkins University reveals.

If the Australian research holds up for other nations as well, the global suicide rate could end up far outpacing the death toll from COVID-19.

The uptick in Australian suicides will be felt over a number of years, the Australian scholars suggest, and the coronavirus response could produce “a generational mental health crisis” resulting in an extra 1500 deaths each year over the next five years.
