Answer this: how can Democrats lock U.S. citizens with “stay home, work safe” orders and promote illegal immigration?

Democrat leaders have a monopoly on the lockdown

Lina Hidalgo, Gretchen Whitmer, Tom Wolf, all Democrats, all extend “stay at home” orders

As posted previously on this blog, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo announced on 21 May 2020 that her “Stay Home, Work Safe” order would be extended until 10 June.

Similarly, Michigan Governor Whitmer has further extended the stay-home order, as well as restrictions that have shut down many Michigan bhusinesses to limit the spread of the coronavirus outbreak to 12 June 2020.

Likewise, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has extended stay-at-home orders in red counties despite mounting opposition.

These Democrat leaders have promoted policies that encourage illegal immigration

Judge Lina Hidalgo proposes and a narrow margin of Democrats approve a taxpayer-funded plan for “Deportation Defense”

Although violation of immigration law remains a civil (not criminal) offense, Judge Lina Hidalgo proposed and got passed a tax-payer-funded plan for defending illegal aliens, as reported by Houston Public Media.

Harris County commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a resolution to create an immigration legal services fund.

lina2The vote was 3-2, along party lines. The resolution, proposed by County Judge Lina Hidalgo, allocates an estimated $500,000 in its first year to help people facing deportation who can’t afford a lawyer. The funds would go toward helping improve due process in the federal immigration system, Hidalgo said.

“The goal is to provide attorneys for immigrants to be able to pursue their case. If it turns out their case has no merit, and they’re not to stay, that’s fine. But they should have a shot at a fair process and they can’t possibly navigate the system, complicated confusing system, without the legal support,” Hidalgo said.

Dallas, Austin and San Antonio have similar city-funded programs in place, but this would be the first county-funded effort in the state and the first program in Greater Houston.

A study by the Vera Institute of Justice found detained immigrants who have a lawyer are 10.5 times more likely to win their case than those without representation.

The report also found that when immigration cases involved women with children, having legal representation improved their odds of winning 14 times.

The county’s next steps are to run a request for proposals from nonprofits likely already working in immigration legal defense, according to the Harris County Judge’s office.

Harris County spends $21 million annually to fund its public defenders office. A large portion of that budget staffs 88 public defenders.

Harris County does not provide citizens paid representation when we get sued. Why do illegals get it?

Two things feed into Lina Hidalgo’s need to provide taxpayer-funded legal representation for illegal aliens:

  1. Her need to perpetuate the class struggle of the proletariat
  2. Her need to perpetuate racism (she calls “equity”)

One thing that baffles me is that Democrats cannot seem to see how supporting one side over another (even if done in the name of purported “social justice”) divides us. Rather than giving special advantages to one side over the other, we should promote equality and freedom (not this division and racism).

On the other hand, why do Americans (as opposed to Democrat socialists) vote for this? My answer is simple: we cannot.

Whitmer backs driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants

The Detroit Free Press points out how Gretchen Whitmer backs providing drivers licenses to illegal aliens.

WhitmerGov. Gretchen Whitmer appeared to support a change in state law to issue driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants, when she gave an impromptu interview to an immigrants rights organization during the Democratic presidential debates in Detroit.

“We need to ensure that everyone’s got a path to getting a license, so they’ve got identification,” Whitmer, a Democrat, said in a video released by the group Movimiento Cosecha after an organizer for the group asked her if she favored issuing driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants.

“That’s something that’s important to me, it’s important to our economy, and it’s important to the people of Michigan.”

Michigan passed legislation to ban the practice in 2008 after Attorney General Mike Cox, a Republican, issued a formal opinion in 2007 saying undocumented immigrants could not obtain driver’s licenses. Cox’s opinion reversed a 1995 opinion from former Attorney General Frank Kelley, a Democrat.

Tiffany Brown, a spokeswoman for Whitmer, would not answer directly Friday morning when asked whether Whitmer favors changing state law to allow undocumented immigrants to hold Michigan driver’s licenses. But she did not deny the accuracy of the video and transcript released by Movimiento Cosecha.

“Not sure I’ll have much more to add outside of what the governor said in the video about ensuring that undocumented immigrants have a path to getting an ID,” Brown said in an email.

She did not specify what that path would look like or whether she was talking about a state identification other than a driver’s license. In the video, Whitmer specifically referenced driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants.

Certainly Whitmer sees that a license gives an illegal alien an avenue to the legal

Certainly Whitmer understands that giving the illegal alien a drivers license also gives the illegal alien the possibility of various legal documents (including the ballot); therefore, for Whitmer to play with this idea is the equivalent of playing with a metaphysical gun. She cannot expect to pick this idea up and not draw attacks from those who stand for our freedom.

So, with this information (and with the knowledge that Whitmer has acted as a little dictator in the name of health while Sweden has fared better without a lockdown), freedom-loving people should vote her out.

Governor Tom Wolf seeks the removal of an ICE detention center in Pennsylvania

The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania CBS affiliate Local21News reports that Governor Wolf seeks the closure of the Berks ICE detention center.

WolfWhile target cities wait, advocacy groups continue working to shut down detention centers. Governor Wolf says he wants the Berks County center closed.

“I haven’t had a conversation on the most recent thing,” Wolf said, when asked about the detention center. “Since I’ve been in this position, since I first learned about the Berks County detention center, I’ve been against what they do, I think it’s wrong. It’s immoral, it’s inhumane and I don’t think we should be doing that in Pennsylvania. It gives us a bad name.”

Here again, Governor Wolf seems to live to produce oxymoronic situations

Weeks ago, Governor Wolf placed COVID-19 patients in nursing homes in the name of health. Now coronavirus reigns in Pennsylvania nursing homes.

Governor Wolf continues to strangle the economic health of numerous counties in the name of health, but where does he expect the funds for their physical and economic health to spring from?

Governor Wolf wants the average citizen to obey his mandates and probably threatens them with jail time and fines if they do not obey. But for the illegal alien who broke into the country and is competing with our citizens for the resources here, he wants to shut down the ICE center (and probably let them all go).

Oddly, Democrats wonder why people cannot take them seriously.

This is the result of Democrat policies

Illegal alien arrested in deadly-hit-and run as county looks to buck ICE

The Daily Caller reports on one illegal alien in Northern Virginia’s Prince William County (where county officials had decided not to work with ICE).

An illegal alien was arrested in a Northern Virginia suburb for his alleged involvement in a deadly hit-and-run accident and handed over to immigration officials, but local leaders are looking to scrap a program that allows law enforcement to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Officials in Prince William County, Virginia, have debated ending a years-long partnership program with federal immigration authorities, the 287(g) program. The introduction of new jail board appointees is expected to lead to the end of this partnership, according to proponents of the program.

As the debate was occurring this week, an illegal alien was arrested after he allegedly struck a man with his vehicle, killing him, and speeding off, according to ICE. Federal authorities and proponents of the program are pointing to the arrest of this man as a prime example of why the partnership needs to stay in place.

Walner Alberto Pichinte Echeverria
Walner Alberto Pichinte Echeverria

A 62-year-old northern Virginia man, attempting to cross a road in the early morning hours of May 6, was struck by two vehicles, with the injuries he sustained ultimately causing him to die, according to news outlet Inside NOVA. The second vehicle that struck him as he laid on the road sped away. The Prince William County Police Department identified and arrested 35-year-old Walner Alberto Pichinte Echeverria May 18, Inside NOVA reported.

Pichinte Echeverria, a Salvadoran national, was living unlawfully in the U.S. and was placed in ICE custody on May 21, a spokeswoman for the agency told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Walner Alberto Pichinte Echeverria, 35, an unlawfully present Salvadoran national, was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on May 21 by the Prince William County Police Department in Manassas, Virginia, after his arrest May 18 for felony hit and run,” ICE spokeswoman Kaitlyn Pote said in a statement provided to the DCNF.

“On May 19, a designated immigration officer with the 287(g) Program at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center in Manassas, Virginia, trained to identify and process removable aliens with criminal charges, served Pichinte a warrant of arrest and an immigration detainer,” Pote continued. “He remains in ICE custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings.”

The 287(g) program allows Prince William County to verify the immigration status of suspects who are arrested and charged with a crime. If the individual is discovered to be living in the U.S. unlawfully, they are subsequently handed over to ICE.

The Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center has been a partner in the program since 2007, according to ICE.

The cooperation agreement also allows the agency to pay for most of the tab for immigration enforcement. Critics of the program have argued that local officers shouldn’t expend their own resources to assist federal authorities.

“The goal of 287(g) is to enhance public safety by identifying aliens, lodging immigration detainers, and initiating removal proceedings by issuing charging documents on criminal and removable aliens booked into the jail facility,” ICE said in a statement.

The partnership has become controversial among progressive community leaders, particularly in response to the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Prince William County, much like the rest of northern Virginia, has shifted toward the Democratic Party, and the now-Democrat-controlled county board of supervisors may have set the stage to scrap it.

So, it sounds like there will be no justice for the victims of this hit-and-run

Oddly, Americans have worked for about 60 years to eliminate giving people preference on the basis of their skin color. No longer are there “Whites only” fountains, cafes, or bars. No longer are there “Negroes only” schools or entrances.

However, now Democrats have worked to establish a separate class for the illegal alien. Unlike citizens, illegal aliens seem to have an agreement with police where the illegals are not detained at auto accidents. They don’t find themselves asked about proof of insurance or title.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg must go

Dolchefino explains why Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg must go

Independent investigative reporter Wayne Dolchefino outlines the nightmare that Kim Ogg has foisted on Harris County by releasing violent criminals

In this video, Wayne Dolcefino starts by interviewing the friends of three people murdered by a felon (Joshua Kelsey) released by Kim Ogg. But, of course, the DA’s office has an excuse for releasing this and many more felons, so Mr. Dolcefino exposes the excuse for what it is: total tripe that was soft on crime. After explaining the violent record of Kelsey prior to his murder spree, Dolcefino goes on to further illustrate Kim Ogg’s soft-on-crime history.

Since Kim Ogg has been the top law enforcer in Harris County, 344 felons in possession of a weapon have been given deferred adjudication (a get-out-of-jail-free card). Actually, this is a promise by the criminals to behave. However, 5 criminals have gotten this twice.

In order that we might understand, Dolcefino provides specifics on 5 felons who got sweetheart deals from Ogg and then wen on to more violent crime.

Of the felons Kim Ogg has released, we know that 135 have violated the terms of their deferred adjudication. This needs to end.

Nine stories on petty dictators, liberal policies, and witch hunts

Petty dictators use the coronavirus to push political narratives

  1. California released seven sex offenders during the coronavirus scare

Townhall comments on the seven sex offenders released by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Seven sex offenders, considered “high risk” by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, were recently released despite minimum required sentences for sex offenders who violate their parole.

Todd SpitzerOrange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer is warning residents about high-risk sex offenders being released by appointed Court Commissioner Joseph Dane. In the name of “safety,” inmates are being released in order to promote social distancing. But it’s also important to maintain social distancing between criminals and potential victims.

Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes told the Orange County Board of Supervisors that the population in the county jail system has been reduced nearly 45 percent since Mar. 7, and there are currently no issues with overcrowding.

“These kinds of high-risk sex offenders are the most dangerous kind of criminal and the most likely to re-offend,” said District Attorney Spitzer. “They are doing everything they can to avoid detection by the parole officers assigned to monitor them so they can potentially commit additional sex offenses. These are not the kind of people who should be getting a break.”

The released offenders were convicted of sex crimes and violated their parole by removing or disabling their GPS monitors.

That is, to paraphrase a conference call by Jim Clyburn …

Representative Clyburn has been reported to have said, “This is a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.” Now it seems that we could safely say that there is no depth Democrats will not dip to while pushing their jackbooted heels into our necks.

  1. Felon released three times due to California coronavirus zero bail policy

The International Business Times reports that a felon was released three times in a day due to the California coronavirus zero bail policy.

Police in Glendora, CA arrested then released a suspect three times in just one day because of California’s zero-bail put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Dijon Landrum

According to police, a 24-year-old man named Dijon Landrum, was caught by police thrice for stealing a variety of items, including the two times he stole a car to escape, but was released after only a citation each time.

California currently has a zero-bail policy in place as the state continues to battle the spread of COVID-19 in its prisons, just as other prisons around the country battle outbreaks.

In a statement, Glendora Police Department said Landrum was first arrested when they responded to a call at 8:28 AM of Wednesday (April 29). He was attempting to escape the scene in a vehicle stolen out of East Los Angeles and was caught with stolen property and drugs.

Due to the zero-bail policy, Glendora PD issued him a citation and released him.

Landrum was arrested again after police responded to another call at 2:20 PM about a man carrying a box and walking through the front yards of several houses. He was caught carrying items he did not own.

So you reported and testified against the deviant who raped the little girl — what do you do now?

Other than protecting yourself from attack, there is little the individual citizen can do. Still, if you have ceded your protection to the state, you have nothing you can do and nobody you can blame other than yourself.

  1. Don’t book em, Dano: HCSO releases burglars on coronavirus fears

The Michael Berry Show on iHeart points out how the Harris County Sheriff’s Office has gone to releasing suspected burglars because they had no record.

Three men were arrested burglarizing vehicles in a West University neighborhood.

Police caught the three suspects, but they were all immediately freed because the Harris County Sheriff’s Office would not accept them because they had “no prior arrests”.

From the West University Police Department: (our emphasis added)

WestU“On Tuesday April 28, officers, after receiving a call from a vigilant citizen, apprehended three suspects that had been burglarizing vehicles in the area of the 4200 block of Tennyson. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted and two counts of Burglary of Motor Vehicles (BMV) were accepted on all three suspects. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Joint Processing Center was also contacted and West U officers were advised that the Sheriff’s Office would not accept the suspects due to the suspects having no prior arrests for BMV. As a result of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office refusal to accept the suspects, West U Officers had no choice but to release the suspects from the scene.”

Harris County citizens, are you protecting yourselves and your property?

If you are, then good. If not, then do not expect the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to protect you (especially as long as Democrat Adrian Garcia works harder to back up Judge Lina Hildago than to protect the citizens).

  1. Liberal Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg’s family violence fiasco of more than 3,350 abusers

Investigative reporter Wayne Dolcefino uncovers a fiasco of family abuse and murder (all blamed by District Attorney Ogg on the coronavirus panic).

District Attorney Ogg
District Attorney Kim Ogg

More than 3,350 domestic abusers have avoided jail time since Kim Ogg became the chief law enforcement officer in Harris County, including hundreds of serial abusers with multiple convictions.

The investigation by Dolcefino Consulting appears to fly in the face of Ogg’s repeated campaign promises to protect the victims of domestic abuse. Just this month, Ogg sent out another campaign mailer on the subject – after women’s groups reported a 40% increase in domestic violence calls during the COVID-19 shutdown.

One of the horror stories uncovered involves Ashley Durrett, a Laporte mother, who was systematically beaten while she was pregnant, jeopardizing the life of her unborn daughter. Durrett documented the bruising all over her body in letters to Ogg’s office and wanted her attacker to get a 10-year prison term. Instead, Ogg’s office gave her assailant, Gene Ysidron, a four-year deferred adjudication term despite the fact that the conviction was his second conviction for family violence. Durrett says she got the news that Ysidron was not going to prison when the District Attorney’s Office called her on the phone.

“I was in the middle of Walmart crying and I asked them why didn’t they let me testify,” Durrett told Dolcefino Consulting in an interview. “For them to tell me he was getting away with a slap on the wrist I was terrified. She is not protecting anybody. Like at all.”

“Kim Ogg swept into office capitalizing on the mistreatment of a rape victim,” says Wayne Dolcefino, President of Dolcefino Consulting. “Ashley Durrett’s story may now haunt Ogg in her campaign for reelection. Talk is cheap. The facts about Ogg’s record are undeniable,” says Dolcefino.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of homicides in Harris County.

Nearly 23, 000 criminal defendants have been granted deferred adjudication since Ogg took office in January of 2017. Of the 3,364 domestic abusers given deferred, 591 of them were convicted of aggravated assault of a family member and 124 were convicted of continuous family violence. Based on the Dolcefino Consulting review of thousands of criminal case files, 561 domestic abusers in Harris County avoided jail under Kim Ogg despite a previous conviction for domestic violence.

I guess this pretty well kills the tagline “We’re in this together” from the coronavirus scare team

Mind you, coronavirus is a real disease that can kill; however, so can influenza, pneumonia, and a number of other diseases. But when it comes to anything that can be weaponized (as COVID-19 has when it comes as a tool for completing Democrat objectives like 1the release of sex offenders, 2the release of murderers, 3the release of abusers,4the harassment of a duly-elected Republican President, and 5anything else on their list), there is no “we” or “us” — there is only the Democrat way.

  1. All types of crime have risen with stay-at-home orders

Townhall points out how crime has risen with the various stay-at-home orders around the nation.

Most types of crime seem to be falling as jurisdictions across the country order residents to stay at home. But auto thefts and burglaries are reportedly on the rise in some areas of the country as criminals take advantage of isolated people and closed businesses all doing their part to stop the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus.

crimeNew York City has experienced a drop in most types of crime since the city’s residents were ordered to stay at home. The New York Police Department’s seven major crimes fell 36 percent overall in the week of March 23-29 when compared to the same period the previous year, according to the city’s CompStat figures. The two exceptions were burglary and grand larceny auto. Burglaries in New York City were up around 22 percent in March compared to the same month the previous year.

Vehicle thefts are up 47 percent in St. Louis, Missouri, according to University of Missouri-St. Louis Criminologist Rick Rosenfeld, while most other types of crime have fallen.

Restaurants around the country are reportedly experiencing break-ins while contending with mandatory shutdowns.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports an uptick of burglaries in the city, following Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s stay-at-home executive order. In the seven day period ending March 24, there were 320 property crimes reported. During the same period the previous two years, there were an average of 285 cases. The Tribune reports the increase is due primarily to an increase in the number of auto thefts. Burglaries of businesses are also making up a larger share of reported crimes, as businesses deemed nonessential have been ordered to close. Robberies in Minneapolis are up as well.

In an interview with Breitbart Texas, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo says burglaries in the city are up 20 percent since stay-at-home orders were issued in Harris County. Chief Acevedo is concerned about habitual criminals now being released by the county following an order from County Judge Lina Hidalgo.

Burglaries are also on the rise in West Palm Beach County, Florida, according to State Attorney Dave Aronberg. Elsewhere in Florida, Collier County sheriff deputies are reporting a surge in the number of car burglaries.

“We have seen an uptick in the number of burglaries because, unfortunately, some people are trying to take advantage of others during this time of crisis,” Aronberg told WPTV 5’s Merris Badcock.

When will the press see a connection between the lockdown and various ill effects?

Before Lina Hildago was overruled in her wear-a-mask order, the President of the Harris County Deputies Organization said (but the emphasis is mine):

I have not met one person in law enforcement who is going to enforce that order.

We are stretched thin. Murders are up 63% and we are concerned about having a citation issued to citizens if they are not wearing a mask?

I have heard more recent, credible sources that have said murders are up 150% and suicides have skyrocketed.

  1. From charges of Russian Collusion to Ukrainian Collusion to Impeachment: Now the Democrats want to investigate Trump on Coronavirus

Breitbart points out how the Democrats want to waste more time and money with a fourth attempt at Trump in the House of Representatives.

impeach-trump-adam-schiff-3President Donald Trump ripped House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday for creating a new select investigative committee to look into his handling of the coronavirus.

“This is not the time for politics. Endless, partisan investigations, here we go again,” Trump said at the White House press briefing.

Democrats announced Thursday that they would create a new select committee to investigate President Trump’s response efforts and his $2 trillion economic relief package.

“Where there’s money, there’s also frequently mischief,” Pelosi said while announcing the creation of the committee.

The president expressed disgust that Pelosi launched another “witch hunt” investigation during a crisis in the country.

Once was enough. Twice was an outrage. Three times is down-right stupid of the Democrats. Now Nancy preps for round four.

Could it be that the media’s continual, sickening focus on “coronavirus, coronavirus, coronavirus” due to an attempt to hide this idiocy on the part of San Fran Nan? Is the media trying to prevent the slow-motion suicide of the Democrat party by continually covering this pandemic?

  1. Democrats more likely than Republicans to report neighbors during pandemic

With a hat tip to Jimmy Barrett on KTRH and Bunkerville (who both beat me to this story), it seems that Just the News reports that Democrats are more likely to snitch on neighbors than Independents and Republicans.

Democrats are far more likely than Republicans to say they’d report neighbors for holding a social gathering in violation of coronavirus stay-at-home orders, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen.

“There is a huge partisan difference,” Rasmussen said. “By a 44% to 31% margin, a plurality of Democrats would turn in their neighbors. By a 60% to 25% margin, Republicans would not. Independents are evenly divided. Other data I’ve released shows that a plurality of Republicans now believe the worst of the pandemic is behind us. Democrats strongly disagree.”

05.01 JTN POLL would you report neighborsJust 36% of voters overall say they would report their neighbors to police for having a social gathering of 15 to 20 people, in violation of stay-at-home rules. Forty-three percent (43%) would not.

  1. Virginia admits to padding coronavirus testing numbers in a way that can easily fool the public

Biz Pac Review reports that Virginia’s coronavirus response team admitted to padding the numbers of those purportedly tested.

At a time when Americans are clamoring for accurate information about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, some officials in certain states are doing their best to make the task more difficult.

Like Virginia.

coronavirus response team
Virginia’s coronavirus response team

Last week, Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam’s ‘coronavirus response team’ essentially admitted to padding the state’s testing numbers after announcing a sudden 15 percent spike.

“You need to know the exact number of tests not the number of people who had tests,” Dr. Daniel Carey, Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources, told reporters.

As such, the Virginia Department of Health announced that it will begin counting the number of positive tests, not the number of people who test positive. So, if the same person is tested more than once and all of those tests come back positive, they will be added to the overall ‘positive’ test count, which makes for a major inaccuracy.

“We realized for Virginia that that change in methodology made a clear sense because we want to make sure that other number that we’re reporting since so many folks are focusing on that as we move into the phases so as one of the important indicators,” Carey said, in what seems like babble.

This system of counting multiple positive tests on the same person is something only a bureaucrat or a functionary would love.

Most Americans don’t care how many tests are being done, they want to know how many people have been tested, and more importantly how many are positive, so they can feel more comfortable knowing how the disease is either progressing or receding before venturing out in public again or going back to work.

The number of positive tests, however, will artificially boost the ‘positives’ and that will be all most people will hear; they will see that ‘X number of positive tests’ and believe that it represents an equivalent number of people, which, of course, won’t be true.

Worse, Virginia isn’t the only state engaged in this chicanery. WWBT reports that “other states” including North Carolina is also counting the number of positive tests, not the number of people testing positive.

What’s more, this development comes as Democrats, especially, have been calling for ‘more testing’ in order to argue against states that are opening their economies, albeit more slowly than many Americans would like.

Without ‘more testing,’ they say, it’s ‘too dangerous’ to reopen. Well, padding testing numbers would seem to add to the justification of reopening economies.

But isn’t Virginia a bluish-purple state? Yes, it is. So why would the state’s Democrat governor be in favor of padding testing numbers? Perhaps because he is beginning to understand how economically devastating it has been to keep his state on coronavirus lockdown.

  1. Salon A La Mode Owner, Shelley Luther arrested: ‘Feeding my kids isn’t selfish. I’m not closing the salon.’

Dallas CBS affiliate CBSDFW reports that the salon owner who opened in order to feed her family and keep her employees fed has remained defiant of the overreaching Dallas government.

Salon À la Mode owner Shelley Luther was sentenced to seven days in jail for criminal and civil contempt and a $7,000 fine today for defying Governor Greg Abbott’s stay-at-home rules.

Dallas Judge Eric Moye found Luther continued to operate her hair salon in violation of the governor’s order and in violation of a restraining order from the court.

She and her business are also each being fined $500 for every day… seven in all so far… that it was open in violation of the governor’s order. Judge Moye said the salon would continue to rack up a $500 fine for every day it remains open between now and Friday – when Abbott has said all salons can open.

Last week, Luther received a cease-and-desist letter from Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins ordering her to close the salon — and she publicly ripped it up. In defying the order, Luther has gained many supporters, among them the Open Texas movement.

Several of her supporters waited outside the courtroom and were visibly displeased by her arrest.

“If you would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge that your own actions were selfish, putting your own interest ahead of those in the community in which you live,” Judge Moye said, offering her a chance to avoid jail time. He said he would consider only giving her a fine, if she apologized, acknowledged she was wrong, and agreed to keep her business closed until Friday, when the governor has announced all salons may open.

“I have much respect for this court and laws. I have never been in this position before and it’s not someplace that I want to be,” Luther responded. “But I have to disagree with you sir, when you say that I’m selfish because feeding my kids — is not selfish. I have hair stylists that are going hungry because they’d rather feed their kids. So sir, if you think the law is more important than kids getting fed, then please go ahead with you decision but I am not going to shut the salon.”

Remember, this decision came from the same county court where 1,000 felons were released

Recently, Dallas Sheriff Marian Brown released 1,000 felons based on her fears of a coronavirus outbreak. With that in mind, consider now that a social justice judge has assessed a $7,000 fine and thrown this woman in jail for little more than her desire to work.

Seven problems with Democrats forcing us into isolation using coronavirus

Harm centering on acts by Democrats

  1. It’s not just burglaries that went up in Houston, chief says

Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reports that Houston Police Chief points out that the “Stay Home, Work Safe” order by Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has resulted in higher violent and non-violent crimes.

Houston Police Chief Art AcevedoAs Harris County prepares to compile a list of non-violent inmates to release in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo has offered a glimpse into how the city has trended in terms of crime in the last two weeks of strict social distancing guidelines.

Aside from burglaries rising by close to 20 percent, the chief said aggravated assaults similarly increased by 19.3 percent. Additionally, given the broad, statewide order to stay at home, domestic violence incidents have jumped by six percent.

In terms of homicides, the chief observed that rate had gone down over the last couple of weeks. The same was said about robberies as well.

The question is whether Hidalgo’s fought for release of felons will cause a bump of violence

A 19% raise in burglaries is nothing to sneeze at; however, since Democrat judges have been enforcing very low bails for violent crimes and because some of the same judges have released felons on coronavirus fears (in addition to Lina Hidalgo’s attempted release of 1,000 felons), one has to ask when this will have affects.

  1. Commercial burglaries soar since coronavirus emergency measures

The New York Post reports a 75% increase in burglaries since the coronavirus scare began.

DolceboardedupCommercial burglaries in New York City have risen 75 percent amid the coronavirus outbreak, according to data from the NYPD.

Police said 254 businesses have been targeted between March 12, the day a state of emergency order was issued by Mayor Bill de Blasio, and March 31.

This is up from the 145 burglaries recorded for the same time period last year, NYPD officials said.

“What we are seeing is that criminals are specifically targeting cash businesses, supermarkets and bodegas,” said NYPD Chief of Crime Control Strategies Michael LiPetri.

LiPetri noted that the method behind many of the burglaries has changed due to the emergency measures put in place to halt COVID-19’s spread, which forced many businesses to shut their doors.

“The opportunities are in a different place. There’s a lot less happening during the day, for example a lot less trucks are getting robbed. The burglaries we are seeing now are more organized and specifically targeted. There’s much more night-time entry, more forced entry, individuals breaking locks to get into businesses while they are closed,” LiPetri said.

This might cause people to rethink going to New York after the pandemic

The pandemic did not cause these burglaries. These burglaries came out of an attitude (commonly known by us religious folk that the New York Times wants to blame for coronavirus as “sin”) that doesn’t have much regard for the needs of others.

The Daily Caller points out how Chicago has lined up to give our tax dollars to illegal aliens.

lori-lightfootChicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Tuesday signed an executive order ensuring that all immigrants and refugees — including illegal aliens — are eligible to receive the city’s coronavirus benefits.

The city of Chicago has launched several programs in order to help residents cope with the financial challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Such initiatives include a coronavirus Housing Assistance Grant program, an online resources program for students through the city’s public schools, and a $100 million Chicago Small Business Resiliency Fund to help small businesses that are struggling.

Lightfoot’s order Tuesday will allow illegal aliens to tap into all of these programs.

“This order is more than just an official decree, it is a statement of our values as a city and as Americans,” the Democratic mayor said during the press conference.

I have no problem with charity; however, I do not want to promote lawlessness

Throughout the arguments over the border, I have continually pointed out my support (that is, the things to which I have contributed either effort or money) of certain Baptist and non-denominational charities that go generally to the poor. However, when it comes to enabling law breaking, I cannot support any such effort.

This quarantine, based on constantly-changing statistics on the mortality of coronavirus, should likewise change. In fact, it should go away in all of the areas where the deaths have not yet reached even one thousand for the state.

As of the writing of this blog post on 9 April 2020, there were 23 deaths in Harris County related to coronavirus. For that, Lina Hidalgo shut down businesses and has issued a month-long house arrest that she wants to extend for 6.33 million citizens (and God only knows how many illegal aliens, but they seem to be allowed to stand on corners in large groups).

This needs to end.

Harm coming from Democrats (in and out of the Press) using misinformation

  1. Pritzker: ‘Frankly, Very Many Fewer People Would Die’ If Trump Had Acted Earlier on Coronavirus

Breitbart reports on the complaining Democrat that had nothing to say about Pelosi’s misdirected actions.

Gov._J.B._PritzkerSunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) said President Donald Trump did not act early enough to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Pritzker said, “We now know that intelligence sources and all the best advice that was given was given in January and early February to the president and the White House, and they seem not to have acted at all upon it. If they had started in February building ventilators, getting ready for this pandemic, we would not have the problems we have today, and frankly, very many fewer people would die.”

Why not bring up the words of Pelosi and Biden?

Trump closed our borders to travel from China by an announcement made on 31 January 2020 (effective on 5:00 p.m. on 2 February). In response to this, Nancy Pelosi called the ban “outrageous, un-American, and threatens ‘rule of law.’

Additionally, in late March 2020, Pelosi brought a group into Chinatown in San Francisco (now an epicenter of the coronavirus) as she encouraged people to come and shop.

Biden called Trump’s closure of America to those who had recently traveled to China “hysterical xenophobia – and fearmongering to lead the way instead of science

As for the acts of Democrat governors to prevent the spread of coronavirus, I cannot find a single article documenting the work done. Therefore, considering the press that works hand-in-glove with all Democrats to promote them, we can assume that nothing was done by Democrats to stop coronavirus. Based on that, please shut up, Mr. Pritzker.

  1. MSNBC host criticizes Republican states over pandemic, but ignores the fact that 36% of cases are in Democrat-run New York

The Western Journal pointed out how MSNBC showed its bias in multiple ways.

The mainstream media never fails to exploit a crisis, and COVID-19 is no exception.

Since the beginning, the media has sought to use the situation as a way to undermine President Donald Trump.

MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell continued the effort on Monday, citing a Washington Post article that attempted to place blame for the spread of the virus at Trump’s feet.

“Well, ‘denial’ and ‘dysfunction’ have been the two words of the day, words that are used by The Washington Post in a searing account of the failures of the Trump administration to take COVID-19 seriously as the virus made its way from China into the U.S.,” Mitchell said, according to NewsBusters.

“For more than two months, time was squandered, warnings ignored, President Trump dismissing the virus as a hoax initially, only to lash out at the press and boast about his social media following.”

Contrary to the establishment media narrative of the administration having been in denial, Trump banned travel of foreign nationals from China to the U.S. on Jan. 31, one day after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed human-to-human transmission of the virus in the United States.

This does not sound like the action of an administration in denial.

As for Mitchell’s assertion that Trump dismissed the virus as a hoax, even the liberal-leaning fact-checker Snopes has debunked this claim.

Trump did not call the virus itself a hoax. He said the attempts by Democrats and those in the media to blame the virus on him were a new hoax, a claim that seems to have been confirmed by their subsequent behavior.

For his decision to ban travel from China, Trump was ridiculed by the media and by Democrats, including former Vice President Joe Biden, who accused him of “xenophobia.”

“We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency,” Biden tweeted.

02 BidenTweet

For weeks after Trump’s decision to restrict travel from China, prominent Democrats demonstrated they were not taking the threat of the virus seriously.

As late as Feb. 24, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was encouraging people to flock to San Fransisco’s Chinatown.

“We want to be vigilant about what is out there in other places,” she said at the time. “We want to be careful about how we deal with it, but we do want to say to people, ‘Come to Chinatown, here we are — we’re, again, careful, safe — and come join us.’”

On March 2, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio encouraged people “to go on with your lives + get out on the town despite Coronavirus.”

03 deBlasioTweet

And on March 10, long after the White House coronavirus task force was up and running, New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was encouraging people to go out to Chinese restaurants because the establishments were “feeling the pain of racism.”

These statements from prominent Democrats sound an awful lot like denial, certainly more so than anything coming from the Trump administration during the same time period.

But, of course, the media does not care about that. With every story, their only concern is how it can best be used to hurt Trump.

That effort continues to this day, and it has now broadened to include not only Trump, but also his supporters.

Citing The Post piece, Mitchell asserted Monday that “there were a number of people in red states early on who didn’t heed the warnings to socially distance because they believed the president’s false comments.”

Instead of criticizing liberal politicians representing urban constituencies for not taking the virus as seriously as they should, she opted to focus on people living in “red states” instead.

But thus far, the hardest-hit areas have not been “red” areas — they’ve been liberal-run cities in states that are either predominantly run by Democrats or that have at least a Democratic governor.

There were roughly 423,135 confirmed coronavirus cases in the U.S. as of Wednesday afternoon, according to data from Johns Hopkins.

Of the 10 hardest-hit states, just two — Florida, No. 7, and Georgia, No. 10 — have Republican governors.

New York state, which is dominated by Democratic politicians, had a whopping 150,697 cases, or roughly 36 percent of the nationwide total.

As anyone who has looked at the media knows, it is biased against conservatism

Even when it would kill main stream media outlets (or their audience) to report the party line, they will report the party line. With only a few exceptions (and these seem to be made in order to bring in the errant conservative), the main stream media stays with the Democrat talking points.

  1. Liberal media lets in Chinese propagandist to White House press briefings, tries to throw out conservatives

Lifezette points out how the liberal media let a Chinese propagandist in to the White House Press Briefings and tried to throw out conservatives.

At Monday’s White House coronavirus task force press briefing, President Trump called on a reporter. She uttered, “Only last week, there were multiple flights coming from China full of medical supplies. Companies like Huawei and Alibaba have been donating to the United States, like 1.5 million N95 masks and also a lot of medical gloves, and much more medical supplies.”

The president smelled a con job. He stated, “Sounds like a statement more than a question,” followed by, “Are you cooperating with China?” She dithered. “Who are you working for, China?” Trump pressed. “Who are you with?”

The reporter said, “Um, no, I’m working for— Hong Kong Phoenix TV,” to which Trump inquired, “Who owns that? China?” Her reply: “It’s based in Hong Kong. It’s a privately owned company.”

Notice the dodge on the question. It turns out, according to Fox News, “Within minutes of the exchange in the briefing room, consultant Elliot Schwartz flagged that in 2018, a former Phoenix TV news director testified as part of an FCC filing that the outlet is essentially controlled by China’s Communist Propaganda Department, and follows a directive to not report positively on the United States.

“Specifically, that former TV news director, Chung Pong, remarked: ‘I know from personal experience that Phoenix TV‘s content is subject to the dictates of the leadership of the Central Communist Propaganda Department, Central Communist Overseas Propaganda Office, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which often directly sent instructions to Phoenix Satellite TV.’”

Why would the main stream media outlets pull a Chinese propagandist into this?

Unless there is an ideological agreement between the main stream media and the Chinese Communist Party, why would they pull a woman into the press briefing who had previously produced propaganda for the CCP?

  1. American media still using China’s bogus numbers on new Wuhan Coronavirus cases

Townhall comments on the way American media has still using been China’s bogus numbers on new Wuhan Coronavirus cases.

Despite mountains of direct evidence the Chinese Communist Party lied about the number of cases and deaths from Wuhan coronavirus within its own borders, members of the United States media are still touting their fake data.

04 NBC Tweet

First, China has stopped conducting or reporting testing. No testing magically means the CCP can report no new cases.

05 LoKinhei Tweet

Second, the Chinese people have exposed their own government for lying.

Remember also that China early-on refused help

Remember that the Chinese Communist Party would not allow members of the Centers from Disease Control or the World Health Organization entry into China. That (along with the changing narrative out of China on the origin of the disease) would suggest that they have something to hide.

Harris County Jail inmate release halted by court order

Lina Hidalgo’s inmate release halted by court order

With a hat tip to the Chris Salcedo Show, Houston Fox affiliate KRIV reports that a court order has stopped Lina Hidalgo’s plans to release felons.

idiotA court order has reversed course on Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo’s order to release inmates from the county jail.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted the update on Friday afternoon. He wrote, “Per a Court Order just received, halting any further inmate releases related to County Judge Hidalgo’s Order. This is a legal matter and will wait for further information.”

The order states, “Most of the inmates in the Harris County Jail are defendants charged with felony offenses, whose cases are assigned to one of the 22 Felony District Courts, each of which independently lawfully sit and exercise exclusive jurisdiction in such matters in this County.”

It also went on to say, “Only the State District Judges of the 22 Felony District Courts of Harris County, Texas have exclusive constitutional and statutory jurisdiction over all felony cases assigned to their respective courts.”

Thank God for sane courts within our system

Thank God that there are checks on those Democrats who would both enforce a house arrest on law abiding individuals (putting many of those law abiders out of work) at the same time that those Democrats would release felons.

Who is served when a felon released?

Thank God also for those in power who have worked to preserve our Second Amendment rights (over the Democrats who would shut gun stores and ammunition manufacturers).

Harris County judge frees suspected murderer on coronavirus fears

Harris County judge releases murder suspect on bond after the inmate said he feared coronavirus in jail

With a hat tip to the Chris Salcedo Show, Judge DaSean Jones has been reported by the Houston Chronicle to have released a murder suspect on a pretrial bond.

A Harris County judge released a murder suspect on a pretrial bond Thursday, after the man requested a bail reduction, saying he feared that COVID-19 would strike the county lockup and “spread like wildfire.”

CruzDavid Cruz, 29, was detained in connection with his friend’s death because he couldn’t afford a $60,000 bond. He asked Judge DaSean Jones to lower his bond to $30,000 and impose electronic monitoring and pretrial supervision. His lawyer stated in court documents Monday that COVID-19 “is certainly going to strike the Harris County jail population and spread like wildfire among inmates.” If Cruz were released, the lawyer said, Cruz would live with his parents and work as an estimator at the family’s lamination business.

Cruz was arrested in what he told relatives was the accidental shooting of his friend in August.

The judge did not reduce the bond as Cruz had requested, but let him go without paying his original $60,000 bond upfront, instead he asked for a 3.5 percent payment to pretrial services. If he violates the terms of release, he would owe the full amount and could be returned to jail.

New Orleans Mayor issues coronavirus order allowing ban on sale, transportation of firearms

Breitbart reports on the action of the New Orleans Mayor as she works to restrict the ability of citizens to protect themselves during this crisis.

NewOrleansMayorLaToyaCantrellNew Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell (D) signed a coronavirus emergency order last week allowing her to ban the sale and transportation of firearms.

She signed a follow-up proclamation on March 16, 2020, further emphasizing her emergency powers to “suspend or limit the sale, dispensing, or transportation, of alcoholic beverages.”

The declaration declaring the mayor’s power to restrict gun sales and transportation says she is “empowered, if necessary, to suspend or limit the sale of alcoholic beverages, firearms, explosives, and combustibles.”

On March 16, 2020, the Second Amendment Foundation responded to Cantrell’s claims of emergency powers over firearms by reminding her that they sued over Second Amendment infringement following Hurricane Katrina and will do so during the era of coronavirus if needed.

What could the reason for this ban be, other than symbolic?

This does not stop any law-abiding gun owner from protecting his or her property. However, it might keep a cash-strapped gun owner from paying his or her mortgage or rent in the event that there have been coronavirus-related layoffs. Additionally, it would prevent a law-abiding person from buying a firearm in a time of need.

However, there will be criminals in New Orleans with new guns. There may be coyotes selling an array of firearms not available legally and LaToya will not have a thing to say about it.

Still, now that she has pulled this little stunt, she will later produce a Mike-Bloomberg-esque commercial claiming that she stood up to the National Rifle Association.

Harris County Democrat Judge Lina Hidalgo restricts the operation of restaurants and closes bars

Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reports that Democrat Lina Hidalgo unilaterally closed all bars in Harris county and restricted the operation of all restaurants.

On Tuesday, bars closed in Harris County and restaurants switched to take-out, drive-through or delivery only. Those are just two of the big changes underway as officials try to slow to spread of COVID-19.

On Monday, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, alongside Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, announced the changes would take effect Tuesday morning and will be in place at least 15 days.

Since the county is under a public health emergency declaration, the county does have the authority to close down businesses, according to KHOU 11 legal analyst Gerald Treece.

“If the county deems that there is a health emergency, the county has the authority to close any establishment, including a bar,” Treece said. “You put the rules in neutral and general police power takes over. General police power: to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of that jurisdiction.”

During this time, if a business refuses to comply, the county does have authority to fine an establishment and then take the owner to court to seek an injunction, which would shut a business down, according to Treece.

If there are widespread compliance issues, the National Guard could step in.

“They can prevent violence, they can enforce the law, including injunctions, including an order from the city or county,” Treece said.

Take this with a grain of salt, since this order comes from a left-wing ideologue

Before you come to the defense of this woman, remember that Houston Public Media pointed out that this little dictator also dedicated taxpayer funds to the creation of an illegal alien defense fund without any public input. On multiple occasions, she has spoken out against the border wall (a stance that has disappeared online now that the poll suggesting that Americans favor an open border has been discredited).

Additionally, Ms. Hidlago can be remembered as the politician who allocated Hurricane Harvey’s disaster-recovery funds on the basis of skin color rather than damage, citing her theory of “equity.” What’s more, this egotistical, left-wing Millennial also answers to  the moniker of the liberal who attempted to triple Harris County’s property taxes just after a disaster and during a time that no no extra funds were needed (refer to the first paragraph regarding her creation of the illegal alien defense fund).

So, here you have a liberal who stands against the border wall (somewhat silently now), but builds borders around our bars and restaurants. She complains about equiity, but directs disaster-relief funds by skin color and not need. She wants to take from the rich (that is, anyone making over the median wage), but doesn’t mind making us all poor.

Although I do not support disobedience in this case, it seems that this liberal would stand much watching (just based on her track record). Remember, Jesus told us to be as innocent as doves and as wise as serpents.

Is this the new standard Democrat?

Previous Democrats issued subpoenas for pastors’ sermons, this one shuts down all churches with an order

Not that many years have passed since Mayor Annise Parker issued subpeonas to Houston-area pastors to intimidate them into not preaching against her transgender bathroom bill. Thankfully, Annise Parker lost in the courts of public opinion, in the ballot box over her bathroom bill, and in the separation of church and state decision.

Still, this blanket closing of all churches seems to be an overreach and the meeting of the goal imagined by Houston’s previous mayoral administration. Admittedly, as Christians, we must take into mind the needs of the least powerful among us. In this case, the least powerful would be those with compromised immune systems and the aged (which, depending on the person’s health, may vary from 65 to 85 as a in-risk group). The problem with just submitting to the whims of a dictatorial Millenial is, of course, that we may not be submitting to the will of God unless we submit the whole issue to prayer.

Additionally, in light of the following article, we have to ask whether we are praying to God or our own hubris.

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling. (Proverbs 16:18 NASB)

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (James 1:27 NASB)

Baton Rouge area pastor defies governor, welcomes large gathering into church service

Baton Rouge CBS affiliate WAFB reports that Reverand Tony Spell has chosen to hold church meetings in violation of the order by the governor of Louisiana.

The Louisiana National Guard says it has not been tasked with breaking up large gatherings in the state, including at churches.

The statement comes on the heels of a pastor of a Louisiana church defying government orders by welcoming in hundreds of people into his church service Tuesday evening (March 17).

The gathering directly defied an order by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards that bans groups larger than 50 from gathering at any one time, including in churches. President Donald Trump has recommended no groups larger than 10.

TonySpellThe pastor, Rev. Tony Spell, says police showed up at the church after the service telling him the National Guard would break up any future gatherings that exceed 50 people.

However, Louisiana National Guard Colonel Ed Bush said Wednesday that is not accurate.

“The National Guard has not been tasked with enforcing any of the curfew, social distancing or meeting requirements as set by the governor,” Colonel Bush said. “Our focus right now is completely with helping state agencies with preparedness and medical readiness,” Bush added.

Numerous churches across the state have canceled services until further notice because of the governor’s proclamation, which he says aims to control the spread of the virus.

Harris Co. considers releasing inmates over COVID-19 concerns

According to Houston’s Fox affiliate, Democrat Sheriff Ed Gonzales wants to open the jails due to the coronavirus.

Jails and prisons can be breeding grounds for disease.

EdGonzales“We do have an aging population here we have several hundred that are above 55 years of age and also very sick,” said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

With more than 8,000 inmates at Harris County Jail, social distancing is not possible.

“We operate in tight spaces,” the sheriff said. “So there’s not a lot of opportunity for social distancing.”

There have been no known cases of COVID-19 in the Harris County Jail, but that will likely change.

Remember, most inmates in the jail are pre-trial, meaning they have not been convicted of a crime.

“We are working on our compassionate releases that are smart, that make sense, that don’t put the community at harm,” Gonzalez said. “It’s important for us to balance this public health crisis with public safety. So we are working with our judges and other avenues to see how we could, in a smart way, release population, if it makes sense.”

“There are no cases of TDCJ in or connected to any TDCJ facility,” says TDCJ spokesman Jeremy Desel.

Take in mind I have blogged repeatedly about murderers being released on bail

On numerous occasions, I have blogged about the result of electing the social justice judges who continually let murderers and other violent criminals out on the streets based on their inability to pay for the bail bond that a sane justice system would require.

Just in case you have forgotten, there was the case where Chicago’s Mayor defended the release of an illegal alien who raped a 3-year-old.

There is the case in Houston where a man on bond for murder robbed a convenience store while wearing an ankle monitor. During that armed robbery, surveillance cameras show him jumping over the counter and threatening the clerk with a gun. This man has been accused of murder in 2017 and 2018.

On 14 February 2020, I blogged about seven stories that concerned the numbers and types of criminals released by our Democrat judges.

As early as 7 February 2020, I blogged about a career criminal who killed three family members because he was out on bail.

So, if these past blog posts warm your heart, get ready for more (thanks not only to the social justice District Attorney Kim Ogg and the social justice Democrat judges, but also the social justice Sheriff Ed Gonzalez).

Not to be outdone by Texas, New York Democrats release inmates

With a hat tip to sfcmac, we find from the New York Post that New York Democrats have announced the release of inmates from city jails.

Mayor Bill de Blasio plans to release “vulnerable” inmates from city jails to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic into local lockups, he said Wednesday.

“In the next 48 hours, we will identify any inmates who need to be brought out because of either their own health conditions — if they have any pre-existing conditions, etc. — or because the charges were minor and we think it’s appropriate to bring them out in this context,” de Blasio said on WCBS radio Wednesday evening.

“That said, we still need our criminal justice system to function,” he added.

The announcement comes as a correction officer and an inmate both tested positive for the deadly illness in the past day.

The Correction Officers Benevolent Association union has called for new masks to protect its members and for all new detainees to be housed in facilities other than Rikers Island amid the outbreak.

Some city officials, including Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, have pushed for the city to begin releasing prisoners who are over 50 years old and at a low risk for reoffending.

What can I say?

I could ask that New York keep their criminals where they should be; however, the moving of criminals where they should be to other places seems to be the entire point of the article above.

The only thing I might suggest would probably be an impossibility in New York: vote conservative.
