How a enforced border keeps us healthy

Border Patrol struggles with flood of sick migrantsSick migrant

The Washington Examiner reports in a 27 January 2019 article how the Border Patrol has started to feel overwhelmed by sick illegal aliens.

Border Patrol agents have spent nearly 20,000 hours since October driving asylum seekers to and from hospitals for medical evaluations, according to newly released Department of Homeland Security data.

Since Oct. 1, 2018, the Border Patrol, which works in rural areas between border crossings, has “seen an increase in the numbers of apprehended individuals requiring medical assistance.”

A total of 2,224 migrants, primarily from Guatemala and Honduras, have been hospitalized due to health issues that could not be treated on site in the last month alone, according to a CBP statement.

With a small (but significant) minority of our population not trusting vaccinations, we don’t need the added burden of a sick population coming into the nation. In the past, America quarantined sick immigrants.

With flesh-eating bacteria and Ebola causing problems in certain sectors of the globe, is there a reason to open up a portion of our border by not having a barrier?

Los Angeles typhus epidemic

Typhus Epidemic Worsens in Los Angeles

According to a 31 January 2019 article from the local affiliate of NBC, a typhus epidemic has worsened.

A veteran Los Angeles City Hall official is one of the latest victims of an epidemic of the infectious disease typhus that continues to worsen across LA County.

For months, LA County public health officials have said typhus is mainly hitting the homeless population.

But Deputy City Attorney Liz Greenwood, a veteran prosecutor, tells NBC4 she was diagnosed with typhus in November, after experiencing high fevers and excruciating headaches.

“It felt like somebody was driving railroad stakes through my eyes and out the back of my neck,” Greenwood told the I-Team. “Who gets typhus? It’s a medieval disease that’s caused by trash.”

(Read more at NBC)

Admittedly, the typhus epidemic in LA likely stems from the weather, drug use, and cleanliness issues of the homeless community.

Still, do we need to make this worse by keeping our Southern border open?

Migrant with flesh-eating bacteria detained at US border

Migrant with flesh-eating bacteria detained at US border

We read in a 25 January 2019 Associated Press article that an illegal alien with flesh-eating bacteria has been turned over by Border Patrol to a US hospital.

A man among a group of migrants detained in a desolate part of New Mexico near the border with Mexico has been diagnosed as infected with flesh-eating bacteria, the U.S. Border Patrol said Friday.

The man was taken to a hospital in recent days after telling a federal agent that he had a growing rash on his leg, U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Carlos Antunez said.

Flesh-eating bacteria are a rare condition called necrotizing fasciitis that spreads quickly and can be fatal. The bacteria usually gets into the body through a minor cut or scrape and can cause a serious infection that can destroy muscle, skin and other tissue.

Another 300 migrants, mostly Central Americans, were detained Thursday south of Lordsburg near an official U.S.-Mexico border crossing, Antunez said. Some had illnesses and injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The sparsely populated, desert area has experienced a significant influx of large migrant groups recently.

Nearly 10,000 migrants have been detained at New Mexico’s three Border Patrol stations since Oct. 1, officials said.
There were 12,800 detentions at the three stations from October 2017 through September 2018.

Since this bacteria generally comes from open wounds contacting sewage in warm water, this might underscore the magnitude of the numbers coming to the US. Shouldn’t we be securing our Southern border?

Texas says it found 95,000 non-citizens on voter rolls

The importance of a border shown in elections

Texas says it found 95,000 non-citizens on voter rolls; 58,000 have voted

According to a 26 January 2019 Fox News article, over 58,000 fraudulent voters have been identified in Texas.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Friday that the state has discovered 95,000 non-citizens on the voter rolls going back to 1996, 58,000 of whom have voted in at least one Texas election — an announcement likely to raise fresh concerns about the prospect of voter fraud.

Texas has some of the toughest voter ID laws in the nation and has been one of the main battlegrounds in the Republican-led fight against alleged voter fraud. The office, in a statement, said that 33 people were prosecuted for voter fraud last year, and 97 were prosecuted between 2005-17. There are 16 million people in Texas registered to vote.

“Every single instance of illegal voting threatens democracy in our state and deprives individual Texans of their voice,” Paxton said in a statement.

The New York Times reported that the findings were a result of of an 11-month investigation into records at the Texas Department of Public Safety. Gov. Greg Abbott praised the findings and hinted at future legislation to crack down on voter fraud.

If we do not secure our voting, then we do not have verifiable elections. This needs to be fixed.

We need to prosecute those who voted illegally. Additionally, we need to take steps to ensure this does not happen again. That includes building a wall.

Migrant Caravan Swells to 12,000

Migrant Caravan Swells to 12,000 at Mexico’s Southern Border

Breitbart tells us in a 26 January 2019 article how another 12,000 potential illegal aliens have aimed at the the US Southern border.

The ranks of a new Central American migrant caravan reportedly grew in size to more than 12,000 as of Friday. The caravan is now heading to Mexico’s southern border.

Mexican immigration officials in the city of Ciudad Hidalgo, which borders Guatemala, are establishing procedures to expedite the process in which to approve one-year humanitarian visas for members of the Central American migrant caravan who are arriving daily. The one-year humanitarian visas, promised by Mexico’s new President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, is a newly adopted policy which allows migrants to legally travel and work during their stay in Mexico.

The new policy of handing out humanitarian visas began on January 17 in response to the new caravan of primarily Honduran migrants who left their home country and headed towards the Mexican border on January 15. Officials originally estimated the caravan’s size at about 2,000. Mexico now claims the caravan’s population swelled to over 12,000 migrants, according to local media and Breitbart Texas sources.

Officials put the new visa policy from President López Obrador in place to deal with caravan migrants as an attempt to prevent them from traveling unaccounted for throughout Mexico. Officials say it will also prevent the caravan members from having to illegally enter Mexico from Guatemala by crossing the Suchiate river.

(Read more at Breitbart)

As long as there is a better economy in the US than in Central America, it looks like this will keep up. One news source even said that one country was paying caravan members to come to the US. For this reason alone, we need a wall.

borderdeaths

Mortality on the border: it’s a dangerous trek

Nearly 400 Migrants Died Crossing Unsecured U.S. Border in 2018

In a 1 January 2019 Breitbart article, the deadliness of the trek to America comes into focus.

Nearly 400 migrants lost their lives while or shortly after crossing the U.S. border with Mexico. More than half died in Texas.

In 2018, at least 376 died while crossing the border from Mexico into the U.S. or shortly thereafter, according to the International Organization for Migration’s Missing Migrant Project. Due to the partial shutdown of the U.S. government, the organization has not updated the numbers since December 21.

The organization reported the deaths of 214 men, 20 women, and four children. In addition, 138 sets of remains could not be identified by age or sex.

Of the reported 376 migrant deaths, more than 230 occurred in Texas, Breitbart News reported. Forty-eight of those occurred in Brooks County alone, which is located about 80 miles north of the Texas-Mexico border.

An exact number of migrant deaths is not known because many deceased migrants are never found.

With the exception of the two Guatemalan children who died recently after crossing the border into New Mexico, the deaths of the other 374 migrants drew little attention from U.S. media.

In order to prevent people from attempting this deadly trek, we need a wall.

Democrats provide ammunition against themselves

Democrats Offer Plan to Release All Child Traffickers at Border into U.S.

Brietbart reports in a 3 February 2019 article how Democrats have plans to release child traffickers at the US border.

The House Democrats’ first offer to President Trump in negotiations to fund his proposed United States-Mexico border wall includes a provision that would end all immigration enforcement for migrants trafficking children across the southern border.

The draft budget provides the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency with $7.4 billion, nearly $850 million less than requested by the Trump administration, and funds only 1,250 beds for adults and migrant children coming across the border this year, a decrease in detention space.

Attached to that funding, though, is an immigration enforcement ban first introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and supported by every Senate Democrat. The Democrats’ offer demands that all immigration enforcement end for any adult crossing the border with a child by the end of Fiscal Year 2019.

Rather than being held in detention for a period of time, those adults and the migrant children they trafficked across the U.S.-Mexico border would be released immediately into the interior of the country.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) previously called the plan the “Child Trafficking Encouragement Act” as it ensures that adults bringing children to the southern border would gain immediate access into the U.S. without fear of being deported or turned away.

No need for Nancy’s approval for funds

10 U.S.C. § 284 allows the military to build walls and roads

I have included a transcript of the words exchanged between Representative Mo Brooks (R) and Under Secretary John Rood.

Speaker Testimony
Rep. Brooks: I want to direct your attention to 10 United States Code § 284 which authorizes President Trump to deploy the United States military to the southern border to build fences and to do a lot of other things, and for clarity, if you look it up in the dictionary the word fence includes the word barrier and the word barrier includes walls made of a wide variety of different materials. So that having been said, it seems to me that 10 U.S. Code § 284 can be used by the President of the United States to direct the United States military to build a wall. Now as of today, you’ve mentioned military forces along the southern border, have any of them been deployed pursuant to 10 U.S.C. § 284?
Under Sec. Rood: Congressman, I don’t believe any of our forces have been deployed pursuant to 10 U.S.C. § 284. You are correct, however, that that use of authority would authorize the secretary of defense to erect barriers, roads, fencing, those types of materials to disrupt drug smuggling.
Rep. Brooks: Does 10 U.S.C. § 284 as you understand it, require the declaration of a national emergency before it is implemented?
Under Sec. Rood: No.
Rep. Brooks: It does not?
Under Sec. Rood: No.
Rep. Brooks: Has President Trump, to your knowledge, ever used 10 U.S.C § 284 to direct the military to build the wall that is necessary for border security?
Under Sec. Rood: No, not to my knowledge, Congressman.
Rep. Brooks: If President Trump were to direct the Pentagon and the United States military pursuant to 10 U.S.C § 284 to build such barriers as are necessary to secure our southern border from drug trafficking and international crime cartels would the United States military obey that order?
Under Sec. Rood: If we judge it to be a lawful order, yes sir. And I assume it would be.

The best summary of the Covington Catholic kids situation

Glenn Beck provides the most succinct summary of the confrontation surrounding the Covington Catholic High School kids

In a video posted at YouTube (https://youtu.be/da1Wy4O2shc), Glenn Beck of TheBlaze provided the most informative and least offensive summary of the event surrounding the Covington Catholic High School kids. Since he provided such a good summary, I felt that I should do my part to put the story in black-and-white media.

The following is a transcript of his video (as well as I could piece it together).

Beck:
A group of boys from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky, were finishing up after a long day. They attended the March for Life and they were given permission to do a little sightseeing before meeting up at the Lincoln Memorial to depart.

They arrived and they saw a pair of dueling demonstrations. There were two demonstrations when they arrived. A group of Native Americans had gathered as part of the Indigenous Peoples’ March (which the Indigenous Peoples’ March was about indigenous peoples, stolen land, and borders without any walls).

Then there was another group: the African-American street preachers. These guys — and I say this because I saw then daily for a long time in New York — they are truly violent, vile people. A very small group called the Black Hebrew Israelites.

So the boys stood there for a second and watch this show, really. They watched and they listened.

And the Black Hebrew Israelites screamed, not at the boys, but at the Native Americans — telling the Native Americans that they were evil for practicing their cultural beliefs.

It got so bad that some of the Native Americans walked up and pleaded with them to stop interrupting their gathering.

Here’s the videotape. Listen.

Black Hebrew Israelite (BHI) 1:
You are the children of Israel. Before you started worshiping totem poles, you were worshipping the true Living God.

BHI 2:
That’s right.

BHI 1:
Before you became an idol worshiper, you was worshipping the true and Living God. And this is the reason why this land was taken away from you, because you worship everything except the Most High. You worship everything in creation except the creator.

BHI 2:
That’s right.

BHI 1:
And that’s what we are here to tell you to do. We are here to tell you to wake up to the four corners of the earth. This is the truth of the Holy Bible.
(Talking to a pair of Native Americans)
We don’t have a microphone, brother. This is a part of the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion.

Beck:
These are two Native Americans who walk up peacefully and say, “Please stop.” They turn around and walk away.

BHI 1:
… your religious philosophies and doctrines and start worshiping the True and Living Power, which His name is YaHaWa. That’s who’s the Most High God.

BHI 2:
That’s right.

BHI 1:
The Most High God. His name is YaHaWa. You’re not supposed to worship eagles, buffaloes, …

BHI 2:
That’s right.

BHI 1:
… rams, all types of animals …

BHI 2:
That’s right. That’s right.

BHI 1:
… the reason why the Lord took away your land.

Beck:
Ok. Now, I want to make sure that you have that. If you don’t — if you’re not watching us on BlazeTV, let me describe the scene.

It’s very different than the scene you will see in just a few minutes later, because the Covington boys are not around. It’s very sparsely populated. You’re seeing a lot of the Native Americans there and they are trying to be kind, but it doesn’t get any less insulting than this. He calls them idol worshipers, totem pole, eagle, and buffalo worshipers until a Native American man was forced to come over and kindly plead with them to stop, which they didn’t.

The Black Hebrew Israelites then go on with their insults directed directly at the Native Americans.

Now, it is right about this time that the Israelites decided that they would then direct hostility over to another growing group. A group of boys who were from Covington that were standing close by, just watching and listening to these two groups.

Here it is.

BHI 2:
That’s right.

BHI 1:
We wouldn’t …

BHI 2:
That’s right.

BHI 1:
… you corny-assed Billy Bob. Yeah. Go talk to them with your Make America Great Again hats on. Unbelievable.

Tell them to come over here in the lion’s den instead of mocking over there. You lurid, dirty-ass crackers, your day coming. Your day coming. Your day coming. Cause your little dusty-asses wouldn’t walk down the street in a Black neighborhood and go walk up on nobody playin no games like that. Yeah. I will stick my foot in your little ass.

Beck:
Ok. If you all saw the videos, which will all be available on BlazeTV and Blaze.com, you see the video. There’s only about (maybe it looks like 10), but in the first part of the video, you only see about four of them. Only one is wearing a Make America Great Again hat. Only one of them seems to be wearing it in the video that we are showing you. They’re still gathering, so there’s very few people there. But you’ll notice what the Black Israelites did. They were arguing with the Native Americans and then said, “Why are you arguing with us? You should be going after those little bastards over there wearing the Make America Great Again hats. Little corny-assed Billy Bob. Go talk to them dirty-ass crackers.

When the Black Israelites start to address them, you also see on the video — the boys do nothing.

They have their hands in their pockets. They are just watching from a distance. They all turn around and start to walk away.

Now, this is a fight between the attendees of an indigenous peoples’ march and their hecklers — the Black Hebrew Israelites.

Now it begins to get out of hand here, because the Native Americans have been kind. That’s where things really go awry. We’re not including this on air, because it is absolutely uneditable and unairable. It is full of profanity, so it would be just one giant bleep. But we will tweet this scene out to you.

This is when some of the Native Americans had had enough and they get into what looks like is going to become a street brawl between the two. And as it begins to get completely out of hand with several Native Americans returning shouts and profanity of their own, the Street Preachers result to saying, “Why are you attacking us?”

They redirect their racial insults and they point again to the Covington High School students to get them out of this jam with the Native Americans.

Here it is.

BHI 1:
… always talking out they ass. Always talking out they ass. But you won’t say that to this peckerwood wearing the Make America Great Again hat.

BHI 2:
That’s right. That’s right.

BHI 1:
Idolaters.

BHI 2:
That’s right. That’s right.

BHI 1:
Why don’t you practice …

BHI 2:
That’s right. That’s right.

BHI 1:
You don’t speak to him like that.

BHI 2:
That’s right. That’s right.

BHI 1:
Cause you’re an Uncle Tomahawk.

BHI 2:
That’s right. That’s right.

Beck:
I just want to make sure you understand what he was saying to the Native American. “Why aren’t you talking to the peckerwood wearing the Make America Great Again hat? You’re an Uncle Tomahawk. You’re all a bunch of Uncle Tomahawks. Why don’t you crack the head of that peckerwood with the Make America Great Again hat?

The media has completely dismissed this. Why, I wonder? This goes back and forth for over an hour with the Black Hebrew Israelites even resorting to calling other African Americans in the area the “n” word, because they don’t agree with them.

Now, it is about this time that the boys from Covington High School all began gathering in large numbers waiting for their ride home.

We’re going to play a small portion of what ensued next, because it leads directly to the incident that would immediately go viral, but keep it in mind for later (because I’m gonna come back to this clip — this specific line of insults toward the Covington again directly followed another instance where the Black Israelites were being confronted for their racism and bigotry.

Listen.

BHI 1:
… look all these dusty-ass crackers with that racist garbage on. Look at these dirty-ass crap. Can’t stand in the sun for five minutes.

BHI 2:
Build that wall. Build that wall. Why don’t you build that dam wall? Ya’ll going to build that wall for Mexico!

Beck:
Now, remember this clip — because I have to come back to it. By now, they boys from Covington were not only getting annoyed, but the entire area in a 300 meter radius was trying to get the Black Israelites to shut up. There was disunion and disharmony with everyone they touched.

The high school kids, in order to drown out the racism and bigotry decided that a pep rally would be louder than the hate coming from the Street Preachers. Now, this is something they do every year. They have done this for 10 years. Every year, they meet at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and they shout their pep rally shouts.

This time, it worked also to help drown out the hate directed mainly towards Native Americans.

Here’s what happened.

[Applause and cheering.]

Beck:
This is their prep. They had nothing to do with anything. They’ve done it for 10 years and it did drown out the hatred. Now, it’s a kid thing to do, but — honestly — if I were there, I would have said, “Thank God. Look at these kids.” It’s much better than listening to the bigotry coming from the mouths Black Israelite and some Native Americans who just lost their temper.

But right as this is going on, one of the Native American attendees of the indigenous peoples’ approaches the Covington group.

He walks away from the area that the Native American demonstration had gathered and walks right past the Black Israelites, directly into the middle of high schooler’s. Now he stops right in front of a 17-year-old, banging a drum a couple of inches from his face. This is the moment where it began.

Watch and listen.

BHI 1:
Here comes Gad! Here comes Gad!

Look at their Make America Great Again hat. Look at they hat. Look at they hat. We not take it. That’s right Gad!

Beck:
Notice the drum beats with the chants. The kids are doing their chants. They don’t know who this Native American is. They know that the Native Americans have been hassled by the Black Israelites. That they have watched and seen. So when the Native American comes over, they think that he’s on their side — trying to drown out the Black Israelites.

But did you notice what the Black Israelites were calling the Native American with a drum? They called him, “Gad.” They said, “Here comes Gad. Here comes Gad.”

“Gad?” Who the hell is “Gad?” You have to go to Isaiah, chapter 65. The Black Israelites still are continuing to insult the Native Americans. This is the name of a false god. When he says, “Oh, here comes Gad” he is mocking the Native Americans.

Again, the totem pole worshiper. Oh now here comes their false god with the drum.

Nobody in the media said anything about this. Nobody in the media had a problem with any of this. The Black Israelites continued to insult the Native Americans, but not a mention of any of it.

Now the Native American — his name is Nathan Phillips. He is a 30-year, left-wing activist and he marches right up to one of the students and gets right directly in his face.

Now the media left all of the priest’s stuff out. So you have no idea that these kids are actually helping the Native American.

How betrayed they must have felt.

So as Nathan Philips, the Native American, walks over with the drum, the Black Israelites are still calling them names. Calling Nathan Phillips “Gad,” the name of a false god. And they continue to insult them, but not a peep in the media.

Now, Nathan Philips initially told the Washington Post that the boys surrounded him as he was just preparing to leave.

There is zero evidence of this. In fact, our video shows the exact opposite.

He later contradicted this in an interview with the Detroit Free Press, admitting that it was he — no they — that initiated the contact.

He also stated that he did this because the Covington kids were attacking the Black Israelites.

This is clearly not what happened. Clearly, if you’ve watched the video, it is painfully obvious this is not what happened. The white boys stayed way away from the confrontation. It was a confrontation between the Black Israelites and the Native Americans. And it was the Black Israelites who are known by reporters in New York to be vile, despicable street thugs.

Now Phillip’s actions seem completely at odds with every other Native American present at the rally that day. There was only a handful that were nasty. The vast majority were either debating or getting confrontational with the Black Israelites. None of them were at odds with the high school kids.

Not a single Native American — not one.

One of the reasons for why some say Phillips decided to do what he did was due to the claim that the boys were saying, “Build that wall” and he felt insulted by that. Now remember Nathan Phillips is part of a group that is against the border wall, “No borders, no wall.” Ok.

That’s why he was protesting. He was protesting the border wall. So, of course, someone wearing a MAGA hat has to be for the border wall. That’s why he targeted that boy.

Now, in interview after interview, he said that they were chanting, “Build that wall.”

In zero instances that we have found on videotape (and we have watched it all) — zero times have the boys said, “Build that wall.” But we did find it and I played it for you earlier. The organizer of the indigenous peoples’ march claims I heard that. The New York Times was quick to point out “that was ‘Build that wall.’ It’s a rallying cry of supporters of Mr. Trump.” Which brings me back to the video I told you to remember. Listen to it, but this time, listen to the Black Israelite leader and what he’s saying in the background to the Native Americans.

Beck:
He’s saying to the indigenous people, “Build that wall! Build that wall! Why don’t you build that wall? They’re so worried about the people from Mexico.”

So it was said, but it was said by the Black Israelites, not one of the Covington kids. Out of all of the video evidence — from the entire event — the only time “Build that wall” was ever heard was when it was said by the leader of the Black Israelites.

The media never did any of this work. They never looked at the entire body of evidence to find out what really happened. They saw young, white boys from a Christian school wearing a MAGA hat and they instantly handed out a verdict of guilty.

Did Nathan Phillips do this as an activist looking for exposure? Well, I will tell you about that old man who cried on TV. Here’s what he said in an interview. Now that you have the video and you’ve seen it with your own eyes — exactly what happened — now let me repeat what Nathan Phillips said happened. He told the Washington Post and then the Detroit Free Press:

Phillips words, read by Beck:
… They (the Covington boys) witnessed these individuals (the Black Hebrew Israelites group) on their soapbox about what they had to say. Well, they didn’t agree with it and they got offended. They were in were in the process of attacking these four black individuals. I was there. I witnessed all of this and it kept going on and on and escalating.

It just got to a point where you have to do something or you’ll walk away, you know? You see something that’s wrong and you’re faced with that choice of right or wrong and that is the moment that I knew I had to put myself between beasts and prey. These young men were beastly to these old Black individuals and that was their prey. I stood between them and so they needed their pound of flesh and they were looking at me for my pound of flesh.

It was ugly what these kids were involved in. It was racism. It was hatred. It was scary.

I mean, if you go back and look at the lynchings that were done in America, you’d see the faces on those people. The glee and the hatred on their faces. That’s what these faces looked like. The Black Israelites were saying some harsh things, but some of it was true.

These young, white American kids who were being taught in their Catholic school, their doctrine, their truth, and when they found out there’s more truth out there than what they’re being taught. They were offended, they were insulted, they were scared, and that’s how they responded. One thing that I was taught in my Marine Corp training is that a scared man will kill you. And that’s what these boys were. They were scared. I’m still scared. I’m still feeling vulnerable, but I will not back down.

Beck:
This man is despicable.

Democrats in the House of Representatives stand up

Democrat Elaine Luria proposes end to shutdown

Congress agitates to end relentless shutdown

Certain Democrats may be working around the senseless leadership in the House according to a 22 January 2019 story in Politico.

A group of centrist House Democrats, sick of political posturing, is pressing Speaker Nancy Pelosi to counter Trump’s immigration proposal with her own potential compromise. The group, led by freshman Rep. Elaine Luria of Virginia, is asking the California Democrat to offer Trump a vote on his border wall or some sort of negotiated security package in February if he first signs a bill reopening the federal government, according to a draft of the letter obtained by POLITICO.

(Read more at Politico)

As of the writing of this blog post, Trump has offered:

  1. A three-year reprieve from deportation for DACA program recipients,
  2. A similar protection for TPS program recipients,
  3. A reduction to 100 miles of wall built under this bill,
  4. $800 million for humanitarian assistance along the border,
  5. $805 million for drug detection technology, and
  6. 2,750 border agents, more law enforcement officials, and teams of immigration judges.

In response, Pelosi:

  1. Complained that the three-year reprieve for DACA and TPS is not permanent.

(She should note that it would get anyone who played their cards right into the next presidential term — but she seems to be a nearsighted idiot.)

  2. Passed a continuing resolution that would re-open the departments of government supportive of the Democrats

(Never mind that this had no prayer of being signed because Trump announced during the summer of 2018 that he would not sign another continuing resolution.)

  3. Passed bills that would open agencies supportive of the Democrats

Still, with this one-sided conversation, most of the media coverage has focused on putting Trump and the Republicans in charge of the shutdown. I guess if your educational system is built of a model of teaching kids to repeat stupid lines back rather than thinking for themselves, this should be expected.

Senator Joe Donnelly pledges to consider both sides

Moderate Democrats want Nancy Pelosi to make counteroffer to stop shutdown

This breaking of ranks may have been in the works for a little while according to a 11 January 2019 Washington Post

Some of the most influential senators in the new Congress are neither in the majority nor among the longest-serving. They don’t show up on the Sunday-morning talk shows, and they aren’t talking about running for president in 2016.

Instead, they’re a pack of Democrats from mostly smaller, rural states who are inclined to work with Republicans on legislation President Obama doesn’t support. They may even be willing to help the GOP override his vetoes.

Some of them support building the Keystone XL oil pipeline and are expected to be active as the Senate begins to debate the issue this week. Others want Congress to pass tougher sanctions against Iran, and all are open to making changes to Obama’s health-care law. All three issues have drawn veto threats from the White House in recent days.

One of the biggest unanswered questions about the week-old Congress is whether the new Republican majority will be able to overcome Capitol Hill’s culture of stifling partisanship and cultivate enough Democratic support to challenge Obama.

These moderate Democrats say they will cooperate if Republicans don’t use the Senate floor to score political points — as Democrats have done over the past several years. They have big expectations for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who will need to keep his larger conference unified while sustaining his promise to allow a more open and nonpartisan debate process.

Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), who is firmly planted in the middle of both parties, said he’ll support bills “that both Republicans and Democrats who sit down and talk to each other think will make things better for us. I think you’ll see that extreme legislation — whether right or left — is going to go nowhere.”

(Read more at Washington Post)

While I put a lot of the blame for the lack of border wall funding on Pelosi, I also blame McConnell for not using the nuclear option the Democrats used to force through Obamacare.

But what do you expect from Democrats? Do you expect them to compromise after 8 years of the no-compromise Obama?

Tom Brokaw says Democrats as much to blame as Republicans

Tom Brokaw says Democrats as much to blame as Republicans as shutdown drags on| Senate may vote Thursday on Trump’s offer

Even one of the mainstays of the main stream media has given San Fran Nan the old heave-ho according to a 22 January 2019 article in Market Watch.

As shutdown drags on, Tom Brokaw says Democrats as much to blame as Republicans: The ongoing partial government shutdown has now lasted a record 32 days, and veteran newsman Tom Brokaw is wagging his finger at all of Washington.

“I think the Democrats are as much to blame right now as the Republicans are,” Brokaw said Tuesday in an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program. “They’ve got control of the House, but they’re mostly just ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. We’re not going to do you want to do.’ I haven’t seen a grand plan.”

Recent polls of voters show President Donald Trump and his fellow Republicans getting blamed for the shutdown more than Democratic lawmakers. Some “Morning Joe” viewers were quick to criticize Brokaw, with tweets along the lines of “Tom Brokaw piling on the both sides — absolutely NOT. This is the Republicans.”

Brokaw on Tuesday also blasted Democratic newcomers to Congress, without naming names. He said: “You’ve got the young people running through the halls who are the new members of Congress — who are conducting pep rallies every day, instead of getting together with the more moderate people. … They’re being driven hard by the left, so it’s a time of great chaos.” The longtime NBC anchor said people around the country are asking him when Democrats and Republicans will “get together and talk to each other.”

Of course, a Twitter personality jumped up to defend Pelosi against the observation of Tom Brokaw. (At about 10:00 a.m. on 22 January 2019, I was certain I had seen vile comments against the Covington Catholic School kids on this account; however, by noon, there was no tweet regarding the high school kids on her account. In retrospect, I hope that the tweet against the high school kids was never there; however, if it was posted and then removed, I wholeheartedly support the concepts of repentance and redemption. If it was never there, I hope all will forgive my mistake.)

Considering the January 2019 Rasmussen poll saying that 53% of likely US voters want border security, the AFA poll showing strong support for the wall, and the June 2018 Harvard/Harris poll showing 65% approval of the border wall, you would think that the Democrats might start to come around.

Three things local news hasn’t reported about the wall

Murders in Mexico rise by a third in 2018 to new record

Reuters reports in a 21 January 2019 article that murders rose in Mexico by 33%.

Murders in Mexico rose by 33 percent in 2018, breaking the record for a second year running, official data showed, underlining the task facing the new president who has pledged to reduce violence in the cartel-ravaged country.

Investigators opened to 33,341 murder probes compared with the previous year’s record of 25,036, according to information from the Interior Ministry published on Sunday.

Mexico has struggled with years of violence as the government has battled brutal drug cartels, often by taking out their leaders. That has resulted in fragmentation of gangs and increasingly vicious internecine fighting

Never mind the opioid crisis made possible by the cartels sending illegal drugs across the border, Nancy. Never mind the lives destroyed by the illegals who kill our mothers, sisters, brothers, and fathers — all the while you refuse to meet with grieving angel moms, Nancy.

Nancy, since you don’t recognize facts brought to you that you don’t like — why didn’t you live by your own words. If walls are immoral and keeping people out is not what Americans do, why don’t you open your doors to Laura Loomer and the friends she brought you?

Border security is national security

2: The local press doesn’t report the desire for the wall

Most voters want secure border and say wall not immoral

OneNewsNow reports in a 15 January 2019 article how a recent poll from Rasmussen Reports contradicts the Democrat message.

In the face of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) charge that building a secure wall at the United States-Mexico border is immoral, most American voters (53 percent) disagree, while less than four in 10 embrace the pro-immigration Democrat’s advocacy of open borders.

“Fifty-three (53) percent of likely U.S. voters think it is better for the United States to tightly control who comes into the country,” Rasmussen Reports announced Monday from its latest phone and online survey conducted on 1,000 likely American voters from Jan. 10–13. “Thirty-nine (39) percent disagree and say it is better to open our borders to anyone who wants to come here – as long as they are not a terrorist or a criminal.”

One insane point that comes out by reading the OneNewsNow article seems to be how closely those self-identified Democrats in the poll fashion their opinions so closely to the talking points of the Democrat leadership (as opposed to the talking points of the Democrat leadership in 2008).

American Family Association Survey Finds Support for Wall Funding

The AFA publication The Stand reports in a 15 January 2019 article how their poll also supports the President’s message on the wall.

American Family Association (AFA) conducted a new survey on border security. The purpose of the survey was to identify the interest of AFA supporters on the issue of border security and to gauge the level of support they had for President Donald Trump’s plan for constructing a wall on the southern border. In the first few hours, nearly 20,000 people responded! In all, 34,514 respondents weighed in for the three-question survey that ended Friday afternoon.

First, nearly all respondents (96%) said they support President Trump’s plan for a physical barrier at the southern border. A very small number of respondents (3%) opposed the president’s plan. Respondents having no opinion on the president’s plan were few (1%).

The most startling statistic of the survey is that an overwhelming majority (90%) of AFA supporters want President Trump to continue the partial government shutdown to force Congress to fund construction for the border wall.

Building a wall on the U.S. southern border was a signature campaign promise of then-presidential candidate Donald J. Trump. His strong stance on border security was one of the main reasons he was catapulted into the presidency.

Despite a partial government shutdown, President Trump is maintaining a firm resolve to secure government funding to build the wall. Democrats in Congress seem determined in their resolve to obstruct the very agenda that put the president in the White House and are refusing to allocate funds for a border wall. Congressional Republicans are standing with the president.

Take in mind that most of these respondents hold a Christian faith. According to the main stream media, that disqualifies us.

Angel moms try to meet with Nancy Pelosi

3: The local press will not show the Democrats when they refuse to listen to American victims of illegal alien crime

Angel Moms Show Nancy Pelosi’s Office Walls Kept Them Out

Breitbart reveals through a 16 January 2019 article how Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi dodged a meeting with the mothers of victims of illegal aliens.

Angel families stormed Pelosi’s office Tuesday asking for the Speaker to meet with them and hear their pleas for a wall and border security.

“It’s nice walls in here, all the way, four walls in here,” said angel mom Sabine Durden. Her son Dominic Durden was killed by an illegal alien. Durden asked the staff if she was to go through the secondary office door, would she be arrested. A Pelosi staffer simply told Durden she would ask her not to go through.

Durden then told the staff, “We asked my son’s killer not to and he still did.” – a reference to the foreign national who illegally crossed the U.S. southern border before killing her son. “And Pelosi doesn’t care about that.”

But, of course, nobody ever accused San Fran Nan of being broad minded. Or open. Or fair.

I only wish that local angel moms (like Pasadena, Texas resident Mary Ann Mendoza) would get a response from local Democrats — especially those [like Lizzie Fletcher] who promised they would not be under the thumb of Nancy Pelosi).

5 reasons to support building the wall

Featured

Call the bluff of the liberals

Reason 1: To call the liberals’ bluff

The liberals (including the press, as demonstrated by the article below) have put together a mesh-mash that reflects poorly on the Trump administration. That mesh-mash includes accusations against President Trump, stories reflecting well on the illegal aliens, and favorably quoting sources from the aliens’ countries of origin. Without making outright statements of “this is wrong and that is right,” the articles push an open-borders, free-healthcare perspective.

Therefore, the first reason to push toward building the wall is to call the liberals’ bluff and start an honest conversation on the topics surrounding immigration, national sovereignty, and law beyond our national boundaries.

Too bad liberals don’t seem to aspire to those goals.

Trump widens demands in wall standoff, threatens Mexico border closure

A 28 December 2018 Reuters article does its best to lay the blame on Trump (starting with the heading [quoted above] and proceeding to quotes from the incoming Mexican President [not included in the blockquote below]).

President Donald Trump threatened on Friday to close the southern U.S. border with Mexico unless he gets the money he wants for a wall, raising the stakes in a standoff that will present an immediate test next week for the new U.S. Congress.

When Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats take control of the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, they plan to quickly approve a spending measure meant to end a partial government shutdown that began on Dec. 22, triggered by Trump’s demand for $5 billion in funding for his proposed wall.

Democrats have made clear that the House measure, which would then have to go to the Republican-controlled Senate, will not include $5 billion Trump says is needed for the wall, a central part of his tougher positions on immigration than his predecessors.

“Democrats are united against the president’s immoral, ineffective and expensive wall … that he specifically promised that Mexico would pay for,” Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said in a statement, referring to a Trump 2016 presidential campaign pledge.

One of the reasons that I voted for President Trump rests firmly in the fact that Trump takes no guff. This is one instance where it would greatly benefit the Trump administration if he were to remain true to this trait.

Anyway, considering the fact that few of the average Americans seem to be even marginally effected by the shutdown, maybe some government savings are in order.

Pueblo sin Fronteras of Chicago leads the invasion

Reason 2: To expose the liberal organizations in their tactics and motivations

Another reason to push for a border wall is that, in doing so, we might expose the tactics of the liberal organizations that oppose the wall.

As with the article used to illustrate the previous point, the liberal perspective central to its writing suggests some fuzzy anti-Trump and pro-liberal ideas.

Although the following article does start with a statement of fact that exonerates Trump and his Border Patrol, the rest of the article seems to suggest a number of liberal talking points that most Americans will not support.

Guatemalan boy who died in U.S. custody had the flu: state officials

In light of the wailing by liberals regarding the second death of an underage illegal alien brought by a parent invading from Guatemala, we have to wonder whether liberals want us to:

  1. Sue the organizations that obviously have been trolling through communities and suggesting that a child is a ticket for access to Easy Street in the US or
  2. Provide health care to any potential invader to the US

Otherwise, it would seem that their complaints about our protecting our sovereignty are all just proofs that liberalism is a mental disease.

Nonetheless, the account of the death of the Guatemalan boy and accompanying statements by the Guatemalan and “advocacy organizations” found their ways to a 28 December 2018 Reuters article.

The 8-year-old Guatemalan boy who died in the custody of U.S. border agents this week had the flu before he passed away but the cause of his death is still unknown, state officials said on Friday.

Felipe Gomez Alonzo was the second Guatemalan child to die this month while being held by U.S. authorities, sparking outrage from immigration advocates.

In the wake of the deaths, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was traveling to the border to observe medical screenings and conditions at Border Patrol stations while Democrats in the House of Representatives and Senate have called for a full investigation.

Gomez fell ill after being detained near the U.S. border with Mexico with his father. The two had traveled to the United States from their remote village of Yalambojoch in Guatemala.

New Mexico’s Medical Investigator’s office said in a statement that nasal and lung swabs during an autopsy found Gomez had influenza B, but said “determining an accurate cause of death requires further evaluation.”

Any American who has had a young child knows the trips to the hospital that we experience (even with the multitude of vaccines available). Since early-childhood sickness is a common evil for parents even in affluent America, what would tempt a parent of a more-susceptible Central American family to take a young child on a stressful trip and expose that child to many sources of infection?

Let me suggest that these groups that advocate for “immigrant rights” (meaning “illegal alien rights”) have traveled to Central America and are telling people, “Increase your chances of getting in and remaining in America by bringing a young child.” Why else would these parents bring 6 and 7-year-old children on a 3,000 mile walk in the cold part of the year? When does the flu normally come to the Americas? Do they not know this?

If proof comes forward that these “immigrant rights” advocates have pushed susceptible young parents into making this trip with children, they should be held accountable.

Gustavo Perez Arriaga arrested

Reason 3: To protect America

A third reason to push for a border wall becomes evident through examination of any of a number of articles describing the murder of Americans by illegal aliens.

Although these articles rarely accuse President Trump of wrongdoing. Nonetheless, these articles (especially those covering the death of a law enforcement official) drive home the need to protect our citizens from illegal alien lawbreakers.

Police arrest illegal immigrant suspected in California officer’s killing

One 28 December 2018 Reuters article presents the bare facts on the death of an officer and the apprehension of an illegal alien suspect.

A suspected illegal immigrant accused of shooting to death a California police officer was arrested on Friday after a two-day manhunt that President Donald Trump cited in his push for building a wall on the border with Mexico, officials said.

Gustavo Perez Arriaga, 32, a Mexican national, was arrested in Bakersfield, a city less than 200 miles (320 km) south of Newman where the officer was shot on Wednesday, Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson said at a news conference.

The shooting and manhunt in California’s agricultural Central Valley entered the national debate over immigration, after Trump tweeted about it in his advocacy for a border wall and Christianson criticized California’s sanctuary law for immigrants.

Arriaga is accused of shooting to death Newman police corporal Sonil Singh after Singh pulled him over on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The suspect, who exchanged fire with Singh, has claimed to be involved with a criminal gang called the Sureños and was trying to escape to Mexico, Christianson said.

On Friday, heavily armed police officers surrounded the Bakersfield home where they believed Arriaga was hiding and he walked out with his hands up, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood told reporters.

I have to ask this: if we could build a structure that would discourage (even turn back) one or two people who feel entitled to kill our police, why wouldn’t we?

America's collective pocket is being picked

Reason 4: To show even more that we will not be the continued object of financial abuse

One last reason listed in this post for supporting our building the border wall could be expanded into infinity — our need to rein in our habit of throwing cash at everything. In this case, America needs to stop throwing money at regimes that do nothing to further our interests.

In other words, we need to stop sending millions of dollars to countries that support our enemies or send their criminals or otherwise try to confound our systems.

Of course, if we are going to eliminate our international largess, why not pare down our bureaucratic waste? Why not eliminate federal departments that have not improved the overall performance of fields that they duplicate state and local efforts?

Trump threatens to cut aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador

According to a 28 December 2018 article in The Hill, talks about how Trump “threatened to cut foreign aid” (as if these funds were guaranteed and owed in perpetuity the American people to these foreign nations).

President Trump on Friday threatened to cut foreign aid to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, accusing the Central American countries of “doing nothing for the United States but taking our money.”

“Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are doing nothing for the United States but taking our money,” Trump tweeted.

“Word is that a new Caravan is forming in Honduras and they are doing nothing about it. We will be cutting off all aid to these 3 countries – taking advantage of U.S. for years!”

This is not the first time that Trump has threatened stop providing foreign aid to countries he says are not doing enough to stop migrant caravans from forming. In October he said that “no more money or aid will be given to Honduras” if a migrant caravan was not stopped.

I want your ideas

Reason 5: To put flesh to other conservative ideas

Since I don’t pretend to have a monopoly on conservative thought, I am open to hearing from other conservative thinkers.

Please either post your ideas on why we should support the building of the wall in the comments or put a link in the comments to your post on the same topic.
