Fifteen stories on the Left’s double standard on violence

  1. A former Democratic Politician says anti-Semitism in New York comes from the Left

Townhall quotes Dov Hikind, a former New York State Assemblyman, regarding the anti-Semitism in New York.

Following a spate of antisemitic attacks in Democratic-led New York, Democratic politicians have been busy trying to shift the blame on Donald Trump.

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, New York City Mayor Mike de Blasio blamed Donald Trump for creating an “atmosphere of hate” that has somehow fueled antisemitic attacks in New York.

DovHikindIt was too much for Dov Hikind, a former New York State Assemblyman and founder of Americans Against Antisemitism. Hikind, a Democrat, told Fox News that antisemitism is coming from the left and said that he is tired of both Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo and Democratic Mayor Mike de Blasio doing absolutely nothing to protect Jews living in New York.

“When you have the Farrakhans of the world,” Hikind began, “when you have members of the United States Congress — Tlaib, Omar, AOC — when you have them indulging in hate speech themselves and to get away with it. You know, there’s a new standard, one is for antisemitism and one is for other types of hate. Unfortunately, people within my party — I’m a Democrat — within the Democratic Party there’s a double standard. The hate, the antisemitism that emanates from within the left, you don’t hear anything. You hear very little. Anything that comes from the other side, it’s all — I mean, even the mayor of the city of New York, has continued to call the hate, ‘coming from the right.’ All the hate in New York is coming from the left.”

Police have not yet identified a motive in the machete attack on Saturday night that left five people injured at a Hanukkah party in the New York home of an Ultra-Orthodox rabbi. Police arrested Grafton Thomas hours later after finding the suspect covered in blood. Grafton is linked to another stabbing of a man that was beaten and knifed while walking to the Mosdos Meharam Brisk Tashnad religious center in November.

According to an Anti-Defamation League survey conducted in Oct. 2013, only eight percent of whites were found to hold antisemitic views, while 36 percent of hispanics born outside the United States and 14 percent of hispanics born inside the United States harbored such beliefs. The ADL survey also found that a much higher percentage of African Americans, 22 percent, held antisemitic views when compared to whites.

It seems sad that the people who have lectured us have the propensity for hurting the most defenseless

Since the Jewish community stands as a relatively small group, they also stand as a more vulnerable group. Therefore, when evil whims are allowed within a criminal element of the larger group, these evil whims affect the small group to a greater degree.

As Christians, we must stand against anti-Semitism due to this multiplying affect.

  1. New York’s bail reform has had a bad impact on the Jewish community

A 29 December 2019 Townhall article tells how two politicians have started to stand against a policy that has been hurting New York Jews.

New York State’s new “bail reform” initiative has been thrown into the spotlight following Saturday night’s stabbing attack on a Jewish congregation gathering to celebrate Hanukkah.

Beginning Jan. 1, criminals charged with most misdemeanors and Class E felonies will be released from jail without having to post cash or a bond. The goal is to not criminalize “poverty by keeping someone in jail only because they can’t afford to get out,” the Albany Democrat reported.

District attorneys and law enforcement officials across the state took Issue with the initiative because some misdemeanors and felonies, like theft, assault and aggravated harassment, aren’t eligible for cash bail.

ChaimDeutsch&KalmanYegarNew York City Councilmen Chaim Deutsch and Kalman Yegar have repeatedly spoken out against the initiative, especially as anti-Semitism continues to rise.

“For two years, we have been sounding the alarm and asking for resources to confront rising anti-Semitism. We have begged for extra cops, for security funds, for more cameras, and for more attention towards this growing problem. Day after day, month after month, we had doors slammed in our faces. We were told to relax – that this isn’t as big a deal as we think it is. Do you believe us now?” Deutsch and Yegar said in a joint statement.

“We renew these calls for extra resources – we need to be able to tell our communities that New York is doing everything possible to keep them safe. That fact that our constituents have been seeing video after video of their neighbors being beaten on the street and harassed,” the duo said. “Then they have watched as the attackers walk out of the courthouse scot-free, with a City-sponsored gift card in their wallet.”

Councilman Deutsch launched a petition for New Yorkers to express their concern over the new criminal justice reform initiative:

Dear Governor Cuomo,

We write to you as New Yorkers united in concern about your criminal justice reform initiative that takes effect on January 1, 2020. We have watched with growing discontent during the last several years, as city leaders tout the phrase “safest big city” to describe the streets that we often feel unsafe on.

Rising hate crimes, prolific drug usage, and frequent news of violent attacks, such as the murder of young Tessa Majors just this month, leave us wondering why you have chosen to implement vast changes in the way our state approaches suspects in criminal activity.

Bail reform, which will revamp the criminal justice system and release thousands of suspected offenders onto the streets, is of grave concern to us. While there are certainly crimes that should be punishable by just a ticket (such as a traffic violation), that is not the case with many others. Crimes like selling drugs to children, arson, promoting a sexual performance by a child, assault, and stalking are serious offenses that could potentially result in extended prison time. We believe that disallowing judges to use discretion in such cases will result in the release of dangerous criminals onto our streets.

New discovery laws will also have dire implications, including making it more difficult for police and district attorneys to protect witnesses and victims. Requiring discovery documents to be turned over to the defense in all cases within 15 days of arraignment has serious implications.

Only 3% of all cases result in a trial. Until now, that meant that only 3% of all defendants would get access to witness and victim statements and contact information. These new laws will allow all defendants to receive that information, not just in cases where it goes to trial.

With these changes, along with the rise in crime and bias incidents and the closing of Rikers Island, we are deeply worried for the future of this great city. We don’t want to see our streets turn back in time, to the dangerous days of the 1980s.

Deutsch highlighted the case of 30-year-old Tiffany Harris as a prime example of why the initiative is a failure.

This further underscores the need to stand against anti-Semitism

Just as Martin Niemöller said in his admission that we should stand up for the weak:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Or, more to the point, maybe I shoud quote Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who identifed the source of providing such support:

We are separated from one another by an unbridgeable gulf of otherness and strangeness which resists all our attempts to overcome it by means of natural association or emotional or spiritual union. There is no way from one person to another. However loving and sympathetic we try to be, however sound our psychology however frank and open our behaviour we cannot penetrate the incognito of the other man, for there are no direct relationships, not even between soul and soul. Christ stands between us, and we can only get into touch with our neighbors through Him.

  1. Anti-Semitic attacks rule in Democrat New York

Rep. Lee Zeldin: “People are getting hurt” because of de Blasio’s “feckless leadership”

In a 28 December 2019 Breitbart article, we find that a series of anti-Semitic attacks have occurred in New York.

LeeZeldinOn Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Representative Lee Zeldin (R-NY) criticized New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) in the wake of several antisemitic attacks in the city, and stated that “people are getting hurt” because of the ineffectiveness of de Blasio’s leadership.

Zeldin said, “There’s a massive leadership failure in New York City, and Bill de Blasio’s answer has been, have another press conference, and if it happens again, have another press conference.”

Zeldin praised de Blasio increasing the police presence to stop antisemitic attacks, and argued that “It needs to happen more, and there needs to be some level of burden-sharing here. You need to see, on all levels of government, elected officials and community leaders going all in to confront this and crush it.”

Why do Democrats in politics and the press assume the press to be all knowing and all powerful?

That is, why do they assume that, if it does not appear in the New York Times, then it really didn’t happen? Why do they create such blow-back when an outside-of-the-beltway source (or a out-of-power Representative) points out the obvious?

  1. Pew: 91% Democrats see violence next in war of words

In a 19 July 2019 Washington Examiner article, we find that a poll says 91% of Democrats expect violence to erupt from the next war of words.

After a week that saw President Trump and his foes toss toxic words at each other, there is now a warning that the next phase could be “violence.”

Nearly 8 of 10 Americans told the Pew Research Center that supporters for both sides could “act” on the politically charged rhetoric with violence. It was higher for Democrats, 91%, than Republicans, 61%.

And they want politicians to cool it.

“Americans broadly agree that elected officials should avoid using heated language because it could encourage violence. Nearly three-quarters of Americans (73%) say this, while just a quarter believe that elected officials ‘Should be able to use heated language to express themselves without worrying about whether some people may act on what they say,’” warned the center.

“While majorities in both parties say officials should avoid heated language, this view is more widely held among Democrats (83%) than Republicans (61%),” it added.

Think about this and then think about the one-sided “impeachment” where the President could not call his own witnesses without the approval of Schiff

The two do not fit. Hopefully, the numbskulls that lead the Democrat party will also understand that.

  1. The provocative messages of Ilhan Omar get ignored as Democrats go on vacation

When you add the mocking videos to her anti-Semitic tweets and her victory lap tweets (along with the fact that she has committed campaign finance violations), I don’t understand why she still sits in the House.

  1. Exposing The Media’s Double Standard On Political Violence

The Daily Caller uses a 1 July 2019 article to point out how the attack on journalist Andy Ngo fits with the Left’s double standard on violence.

Ngo

Portland Antifa put a journalist in the hospital over the weekend, and almost every blue checkmark on Twitter immediately condemned the act.

Oh wait, the exact opposite of that happened.

Daily Caller Editorial Director Vince Coglianese and Staff Reporter William Davis are here to break down the media’s blatant double-standard when it comes to policing political violence.

(Read more at the Daily Caller)

Considering the messages of “tolerance” and “love” the left spew

Additionally, considering that the left calls for tolerance of gays (and Andy Ngo, while being a great photo journalist, is also gay), then the beating of Mr. Ngo by Antifa seems doubly hypocritcal for the left.

Although I do not agree with the actions of many gays, I don’t call for their beating (as Antifa practiced on Ngo) or their death (as many hard-line Islamists do).

  1. Brookshire Woman Admits Mailing Bombs to President Obama and Governor Abbott

With a hat tip to the Chris Salcedo Show, we find that Katy News tells us in a 1 July 2019 article (and not the Houston Chronicle or the New York Times) that a Texas woman has mailed bombs to Governor Abbott, President Trump, and President Obama.

A Brookshire woman admits she transported explosives with the intent to kill, injure or intimidate the President of the United States, the Texas Governor and a former acting Social Security Administrator. Detectives caught her using hairs from her cat.

Julia-PoffJulia Ann Poff, 47, admitted to mailing a package on or about Oct. 2 – 3, 2016, that contained a homemade bomb that was addressed to former President Barack Obama. As part of her plea, she also acknowledged mailing two similar packages addressed to the Governor Abbott and the then Acting Social Security Administrator. Each of those packages contained a victim-activated, booby trapped, improvised explosive device.

U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick along with Special Agent in Charge Perrye K. Turner of the FBI announced the plea deal Monday where Poff admitted guilt.

According to court documents she was upset with Governor Abbott because she had not received support from her ex-husband.

  1. Antifa Has Shown Why It Should Be Designated A Domestic Terror Group

The Daily Caller points out how Antifa has shown itself worthy of the title of “domestic terror group” in a 1 July 2019 article.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation defines domestic terrorism as violence perpetrated by groups with “extremist ideologies of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.”

Antifa meets that definition. The group consists of American citizens radicalized by left-wing ideology who carry out threats of violence. It’s high time to classify Antifa as a domestic terror organization.

Over the weekend, the group exploded in rage once again in Portland, Oregon. Antifa members injured several people, including an elderly man. Journalist Andy Ngo, who was covering the event, went to the hospital for a head injury and brain bleeding.

To date, federal officials have not classified Antifa a domestic terror group despite endless photographs, eyewitness accounts and video evidence supporting the designation.

During a protest of conservative speaker Ben Shapiro last year on the University of California’s Berkeley campus, Antifa members reportedly destroyed campus property, set fire to trash cans, beat up college Republicans and forced students to shelter in place. (Campus police stood by doing nothing.) The school settled the case, paying organizers nearly $100,000.

It’s difficult to understand why the group hasn’t received a terror designation.

  1. Antifa Members Have Repeatedly Attacked Journalists Who Cover Them

The Daily Caller reports in a 1 July 2019 article how journalists who report against Antifa have experienced multiple attacks.

Members of the violent left-wing movement Antifa have repeatedly harassed and attacked members of the media who cover them.

andy-ngo-portlandMasked individuals at an Antifa rally Saturday violently attacked Portland journalist Andy Ngo, sending him to the hospital.

While some members of the national media — including CNN hosts Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo — have been sympathetic toward Antifa in the past, that hasn’t kept Antifa members from attacking the journalists actually covering them on the ground.

The U.S. Press Freedom Tracker, a collaboration led by the Freedom of the Press Foundation and the Committee to Protect Journalists, includes numerous instances of “anti-fascist” agitators harassing and assaulting journalists since Trump took office.

Protesters at an Antifa rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, harassed and attacked an NBC crew in August 2018. NBC reporter Cal Perry tweeted out a video of the attack.

  1. Here’s How Liberal Journalists Reacted After Andy Ngo’s Attack At A Portland Rally

The Daily Caller shows in a 30 June 2019 article how liberal journalists reacted to the attack on Andy Ngo.

Several media pundits dismissed reports of a conservative journalist’s attack during a rally Saturday in Portland, Oregon.

AlheliPicazoAlheli Picazo was one of several media talking heads who appeared to partially blame Quillette editor Andy Ngo after he was assaulted during a street protest. Ngo’s past record of antagonizing activists played a role in his attack, she wrote in a tweet Saturday.

“Andy Ngo is someone who antagonizes those he knows will react in a disproportionate way and this exact outcome was inevitable. Everyone knew it,” Picazo told her followers before noting that Antifa’s members are ultimately responsible for their actions.

She also lamented that the incident could tarnish the group’s image.

These leftie journalists do what guilty rapists do: blame the victim

So if Andy Ngo were to have written lies about Antifa and said that the group was “good” and “gentle,” then this could have been avoided, in their view.

Do you think that Ms. Picazo would apply the same standard to CNN were President Trump to blockade the doors of that group?

  1. Journalist Andy Ngo Assaulted by Antifa Protesters in Portland

Breitbart reports through a 29 June 2019 article the details of the attack on Andy Ngo.

Antifa-Attack-Andy-NgoJournalist Andy Ngo was assaulted by Antifa protestors in Portland Saturday afternoon, according to video taken of part of the assault and Ngo himself.

The video showed Ngo, editor of Quilette, being punched and kicked by masked assailants dressed in black and then being hit by various containers of liquid as he is retreating.

He later live-streamed a video of himself describing the assault. His face is scratched and he has blood on his neck. A police officer is heard interviewing him on the livestream.

“I just got beat up by the crowd, with no police at all, in the middle of the street,” Ngo said during the livestream.

“Where the hell were all of you,” he is heard asking the police officer. He is also heard saying he was assaulted twice earlier in the day, and reported both incidents to the police with no response.

He said he was hit by milkshakes and hit on the back of his head as well.

Portland Police Department tweeted for protestors to disperse or be subject to arrest or use of force.

Ngo is known for covering the far left and is often targeted by the left for his reporting. The day before the planned protest, he expressed fears of being singled out and assaulted:

  1. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler Under Fire for Not Stopping Antifa Protests

Liberal Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler comes under fire according to a 29 June 2019 Breitbart article.

Portland-Mayor-RyanPortland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s hands-off policy when it comes to Antifa protestors came under scrutiny on Saturday after journalist Andy Ngo was assaulted by masked Antifa assailants.

Wheeler, who is also police commissioner, said nothing on Saturday, as hundreds of Antifa protestors gathered on the streets, with some throwing milkshakes — potentially mixed with quick-drying cement — and assaulting Ngo.

Ngo, shaken and bloodied, began livestreaming on his phone after his assault, and could be heard asking a police officer, “Where the hell were all of you?”

U.S. Ambassador to Germany Ric Grenell, who is openly gay like Ngo, tweeted, “Where is Mayor @tedwheeler?”

Wheeler was silent on his Twitter account and issued no statement to media.

Let me repeat, if the insane rule the assylum, why not escape the assylym?

There is plenty of room in Texas for conservatives. Liberals can stay in Oregon and California.

  1. Al Green: Impeach Trump or House Members Could Be ‘Harmed’

Breitbart reports in an 18 July 2019 article how Democrat Representative Al Green threatened harm to House members.

Al-GreenRep. Al Green (D-TX) on Thursday declared that he will be “marching on until victory is won” on impeaching President Donald Trump a day after the House tabled his impeachment resolution, which Green suggested is needed so that members of Congress are not harmed.

Green boasted that he got 95 Democrats to support moving forward with his impeachment resolution, which he said was up from 58 the first time he introduced articles of impeachment in 2017 and 66 the second time in 2018.

“We are marching on to 212,” Green said. “We are marching on until victory is won.”

Green, who has also said that the House should impeach Trump to “punish” the president, urged House members to vote against Trump’s “bigotry and hate” days after he said Trump’s tweets about the “Squad” and his words could incite or “cause others to act.”

Why doesn’t this hit the evening news?

If a 10-year-old tape of Donald Trump making locker-room banter surfaces, the press focuses on it for 6 months. If Representative Al Green (who has been in the House since 2005) makes threats like this (and like Maxine Waters made several times), the press imitates crickets.

  1. Tacoma Police: Immigration Center Firebomber Claimed to Be Antifa, Member of Antifa Gun Club

Breitbart.com reported in a 19 July 2019 article on how the man who firebombed the Tacoma immigration center claimed both Antifa membership and membership in an Antifa gun club.

Tacoma Police Department said in an update late Thursday that the 69-year-old man who tried to firebomb an immigration detention center on Saturday claimed association with Antifa, a violent far-left “anti-fascist” movement, and was once a member of a self-proclaimed anti-fascist gun club.

Tacoma Police Department Public Information Officer Loretta Cool said in an update emailed to reporters:

Subsequent investigation into the events leading up to the shooting and possible motivations for suspect Willem Van Spronsen have been discovered. Detectives have learned that the suspect claimed association with Antifa. Willem Van Spronsen was a known anarchist as well and was once a member of the Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club, a self-proclaimed anti-fascist organization.

Willem-Van-SpronsenIt is the first time the Tacoma Police Department, which is leading the investigation into Van Spronsen in cooperation with the FBI, has acknowledged a link between Willem Van Spronsen and Antifa.

It is also the first time the police department is acknowledging his membership in the Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club, which was featured on CNN’s United Shades of America in a May 5th episode. Van Spronsen was featured throughout the episode, in which the host praised the club’s members.

Cool also acknowledged for the first time that Van Spronsen left behind a “manifesto.”

“Detectives are still reviewing a ‘manifesto’ letter authored by Willem Van Spronsen which was widely distributed by him prior to his death. The Tacoma Police Department was not made aware of the letter prior to the investigation of the incident,” she said.

Local TV station KIRO-TV published what it said was Van Spronsen’s manifesto on their website, which showed he used the term “concentration camps” when referring to immigration detention facilities, echoing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)’s use of the term.

Interesting. So Tacoma Police have changed the motto of police.

According to Tacoma Police, they no longer serve and protect. It seems that the Tacoma Police inform and conform (to leftist idiology).

  1. Tacoma ICE Attacker Urges Leftists to Ignore Laws, Arm Themselves

In a 15 July 2019 Breitbart article, we find how the firebomber of the Tacoma immigration center urged leftists to ignore laws and arm themselves.

Tacoma Police Department said in an update late Thursday that the 69-year-old man who tried to firebomb an immigration detention center on Saturday claimed association with Antifa, a violent far-left “anti-fascist” movement, and was once a member of a self-proclaimed anti-fascist gun club.

The manifesto said:

There’s wrong and there’s right. it’s time to take action against the forces of evil. evil says one life is worth less than another. evil says the flow of commerce is our purpose here. evil says concentration camps for folks deemed lesser are necessary. The handmaid of evil says the concentration camps should be more humane.

It also stated, “I am antifa, i stand with comrades around the world who act from the love of life in every permutation.”

Ocasio-Cortez this week did not respond to a Rebel News reporter asking if she would condemn Van Spronsen’s attack or Antifa:
